5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and with depth
Well, I wrote about 10 reviews on trading books so far, so that should clear off some doubts of the previous reviewer.
1-0 out of 5 stars You've got to wonder
Every reviewer rates this an exceptional book and every reviewer has only rated one book, this one. Isn't that strange (rhetorical question). I read a great many reviews of trading books; go to a book by Elder or one of the other market gurus and you'll find reviewers who have read and reviewed scads of trading books. There's of course no way for me to know, but maybe the author's real talent is writing trading book reviews.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best traders manual
I bought this book due to the excellent reviews and I agree with all the 5 stars that everyone has given it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid this book at all costs
Fortunately I only paid a few pound for this book at a book fair. I have been successfully day trading for over 5 years, have read in excess of 60 books. This is the worst I have seen. Oliver Velez should be taking out the backyard and horse whipped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beware of superbookdeals seller
If you want to buy the book, go ahead, just be careful of superbookdeals, they take your money but don't deliver and don't answer emails. Caveat Emptor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must read for those who want to make money
Great book. Covers all the bases, including fundamental and technicals. I have read a few of the other Dummies books on investing and all were well written. This book is for those who want to make money, not just buy and hold and hope for the best. I learned more about trading/investing with the Dummies series than 4 years of college majoring in finance. And yes, I have made money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction
IMHO The reason the "for dummies" brand has been successfull aside from the catchy name, is the actual content and material of the books themselves.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good book + Free trading
This book is especially good for the person who wants a broad overview of investing. It will give you a solid foundation to begin growing your money from. After reading, I opened a Scottrade account because they had the lowest rates ($7), and no inactivity fee. [...] to get a referral for 3 free trades. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Concise Overview to Get One Started
You can't watch television these days without getting bombarded with ads for on line brokerage companies. What's been missing has been a centralized source for information about the whole thing. This book provides that source. It's not complete - if it were it would be so big that you couldn't carry it around - but it's a great start.
5-0 out of 5 stars Get Up To Speed With New Strategies, Tools and Resources
This newest edition of "Investing Online for Dummies" reflects the latest changes and improvements to online investing Web sites. Addresses building an online information system, setting up a basic investment strategy, determining how much to invest, selecting an online broker and trading online, finding the right investments, performing Internet transactions securely, saving on commissions, managing a portfolio, and much more.
5-0 out of 5 stars A great guide for online investing
As I surf the Web, I often feel that it's like visiting a library where all the books have been spilled on the floor. The information is there but I don't know where to begin my search. "Investing Online For Dummies" explained how to get started, steered me to free or low cost online services, pointed out the important parts of Web sites, and showed me the process of online investing.

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful but
remember: there is no such thing as a free lunch..you have to build systems yourself and test test test and then optimise a bit.(I said a bit :-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Good techniques for developing a system
If you want a caned system, this is not the book for you. What this book will teach you is how to evaluate a system that you are developing. It is a little hard to read, but the excel formulas are worth it.
5-0 out of 5 stars professional methodology of systems dvelopment
Very good book for serious system developers. Most books on the topic present a system, optimize it so it fits a particular market, show couple of very convincing graphs and voila, here is the contribution to the trading science.

5-0 out of 5 stars get your highlighter, you can find something of value
Mr. Schafer writes about several different option strategies.More importantly, he covers several tools you can use ranging from magazine covers to VIX.He also touches on the "Greeks" and money management. The first 130 pages covers the tools and basics of options and the second half of the book covers specific option strategies and more details on how to spot a trade.
1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Newsletter Service
The service is a sure way to loose money. I consider myself as a novice investor but I can do better on my own than following his advise. Talking to service rep is waste of your time and effort. The service rep will listen to you but do nothing.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Technical Analysis
Only 50% of the book is about options. The other 50% concentrates on how to use technical analysis to find winning stocks. It is probably the best book for the beginner and intermediate trader. With the Technical analysis, it can be used for both stocks and options. It belongs on every trader's shelf. The reason it didn't get a "5 Star" is that he really doesn't go into closing a position if the trade is going the wrong way. I pretty much had to learn that on my own. I have read it cover-to-cover 3 times and certain chapters at least 6 times. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ FOR NEWBIES, BUT DON'T STOP THERE AS THERE IS A LOT MORE TO IT
Overall a good book for a beginner, the best thing about this book is that it walks you through the first steps of understanding markets and fundamentals with ease, it's was written in user friendly way, with simple terms and examples.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic
This book lives up to it's title in grand fashion. It is a delightful and eye-opening read for anyone interested in learning about daytrading and swing-trading stocks. The negative reviews have absolutely missed the point entirely. Of course a beginner is not going to read this book, open an account, and start trading profitably. She tells you that right in the book!
4-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to daytrading
Good book for the beginner to get his feet wet in the merky waters of daytrading. Good explanation of support and resistence which are critical concepts and used by the most successful daytraders. Helps you to think deeply about yourself and trading which is a unique feature of her books. value for money. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A book from a REAL trader
What I really liked most about this book is that it was written by someone who actually trades for a living instead of a vendor who makes his living off selling courses, classes, and books. Gary Smith took a $2,000 account which he struggled with for 19 years to a $700,000 account after reading hundreds of trading books. How did he do this? By finally quitting trying to go for the big when and focused on gaining money each month. He really made the big money at first by trading S&P futures then when he got in the 6 figure range he switched to mutual funds only because he can not deal with the volitilitu of individual stocks. This book is like a modern day version of Nicolas Darvas's "How I made $2,000,000" it is the true story ofhow an individual broke the trading code. Here are my key learnings:
4-0 out of 5 stars Refreshing honesty with no hype
This was one of the first books I bought on trading while I was doing it part time. I was struck by all of the parallels between what he had experienced and what I was experiencing in my trading.
5-0 out of 5 stars Gary Smith Is the Real Deal
I first learned about Gary Smith on the floor of the CBOT, where he was something of a living legend to speculators there. This man is the real deal. Yes, he actually knows how to trade, unlike the myriad of charlatans in the trading book business. One of the most important points to emanate from Smith's book is the fact that the man went through years of suffering as he attempted to reach his goal. Trading is not something you can master in a few months. Many people quit lucrative jobs thinking they are going to be the next Jesse Livermore or Nicholas Darvas. Folks, it's not going to happen unless you are prepared to study, work hard and take a series of blows to your trading account and your ego.

1-0 out of 5 stars totally worthless
It always amazes me how some people have the ability to write a whole book with nothing to say. If you can make money using the techniques in this book please email me, as far as I'm concerned this book is only meant to promote their services. The second half of the book is surely meant to impress, not to teach. I hate these selling techniques: they even make us pay for their promotional material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pragmatic advise to those who can listen.
If one were to follow the advise in this book, they would be successful. The author leaves nothing to chance and is trying to teach the reader that he too must leave nothing to the whim of the market. The premise on which this excellent book is founded is to react to the market and not forecast it.As Jea Yu points out, it is harder to do than you might expect. The battleground is really the "baggage" that we all bring to the table - our ego's, our budget and most of all our bad judgment. This is a great book and teaches a winning style, if the trader has the discipline to follow it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding. Read it again and again.
A novice should probably read that fluffy Toni Turner book to get an idea of the lingo, but no one should contemplate day trading without reading Lu. This book is a detailed description of the intricacies of no-nonsense, hardcore daytrading, written by a consistently successful practitioner. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good primer but not very useful for traders
This text contains a lot of information on online trading in general and trading of options in particular. But be careful, you need to know more than that to succeed in this business. Although this book will tell you how to go about placing your orders and which option strategy is good for which situation, making money comes down to predicting the behavior of your stock price and volatility, something you will have to learn elsewhere. Incidentally the book was most likely written to increase subscriber base of the author's website, so don't let your guard down.

2-0 out of 5 stars Time value of that book is zero
First 8 chapters give you a very superficial introduction to the options trading and some strategies. Let me repeat - very superficial. If you want to learn that matter, you definetely need another book.2-0 out of 5 stars Decent Introduction to the Options Arena
I won't pretend to be an expert option trader.I'm in my third year of seeking a bachelor's, and the degree will not be very finance or investing related. This is the first book I read about options, and it successfully heightened my interest by introducing me to some basic option strategies.Another success of the book is the advice it gives on how to initiate and monitor trades throughout the trading day.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars He really trades
Most of the books on trading are written by unsuccessful traders or technicians who are frustrated traders, Larry Williams is one of the few great traders, who keeps trading and making money which shares his methods, strategies and thoughts in a book in a comprehensible way. Larry Williams is among the best and newbies and wannabes like me have to listen to him.

1-0 out of 5 stars Shame
I do not know why he decided to recycle his "Long Term Secrets to Short Term Trading" book. He is selling the same old stuff in a new book with a different name. Even the examples and the explanations of his setups are word to word the same. Nothing new at all. No need to buy the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Updated Long-Term Secrets...
Mr. Williams specializes in the S&P 500. You won't find a better or more proven trader than Mr. Williams. He is very generous with his techniques and trading methods, complete with well researched studies of successful trades. His ideas can also be applied to other trading vehicles. You can't lose reading any and all of Mr. William's books. Well worth the purchase price, as you are capturing over 35 years of successful and documented trading experience. This is the updated version of "Long-Term Secrets To Short-Term Trading", with some new material added.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book with rare insight
The chapter on level 2 alone is worth the price of the book. Yes the markets have changed and will continue to change, but you can always apply the general principles. Example: accumulation is accumulation regardless of what the market conditions are. Chris points out how to spot accumulation on level 2 and T&S, and if you grasp the idea, you should be able to spot them in any market with the tools available.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very useful, if somewhat out of date...
There is much useful material, along with a thoughtful approach to creating a daytrading discipline, in this book.I don't fully agree with (and wouldn't expect to) all of Lewis' statements, and, as you might expect, given the changes in the trading environment over the last couple of years, many of his methods and observations are arguably already out of date, but others still apply, and his overall philosophy, perspective, and attitude are probably more important, in my opinion, than the particulars of his personal approach as practiced in and around late 2000.The text includes numerous clear, concrete, and detailed examples, though you may have to look past an L2 screen with a stack of QCOM buyers at 343 13/16 (I just never get over mania-market prices) to receive the message.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOMEONE SUCCESSFULL WITH THE SAME INTERESTS AS US FINALLY TA

5-0 out of 5 stars Online Marketing Success Stories: Insider Secrets from the Experts Who are Making Millions on the Internet Today
Online Marketing Success Stories: Insider Secrets from the Experts Who are Making Millions on the Internet Today by Rene V. Richards, published by Atlantic Publishing Group, Inc.
3-0 out of 5 stars Very general and not very useful
First off, I will say I did not read this book cover to cover.I read probably 75% of it, all in one afternoon. The first half to three quarters of the book are a collection of personal stories of people that have had success with their online businesses. As I was reading through these stories, they started sounding the same."I was poor growing up, knew nothing about computers, then I found these people that hooked me up with an idea or helped me in some way (sales pitch feeling here).Add a lot of hard work, determination and customer service and i'm a big success!"And that's it - no helpful tips or tricks in these stories. I plan to start a serious online retail business and there was one story that could have been helpful to me had it devulged some detail, but no such luck.None of them listed out the steps they took to launch their business...that would have been helpful!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginners' reference
This book mixes useful online information with engaging presentation to produce an effective, tried and true, how to book.Interesting and candid case studies of winning online businesses illustrate the journey from idea to success in layman's terms. The reader is invited to check out a wealth of website information online for the businesses profiled.

I have Terry's book but also enjoy listening to quality material in my car so bought the cd as well. This is a very complete, financial education program. SHE COVERS EVERYTHING. And I found the tax information very beneficial as well.5-0 out of 5 stars A fresh, new perspecive

5-0 out of 5 stars Data, data and more data - all well organized
While ETFs are increasing in popularity, there are few objective sources of analysis. Look no further than Morningstar's book. In a comprehensive, well-organized manner, the book provides you with information about the largest and most actively traded ETFs. The first part of the book provides an overview of ETFs and comparisons with traditional mutual funds (no new earth shattering information can be gleaned from this part if you are familiar with ETFs already). The main component of the book is a series of 1 page report for each ETF providing data on performance, style, holdings, and their analysts "take" on that ETF, among other data. The third part provides detailed tables on past performance of these ETFs and provides rankings. The book also includes a 2 week research "pass" to their ETF website.

3-0 out of 5 stars nice read but not sufficiently hands on
At first, i was enthoused by the uplifting style in which the book is written. That is an asset in itselft as it contributes to giving you a positive attitude. But once you have finished the book and try to elaborate some plan to implement some long term goals, you reckon that there is no specific help on how to define short term goals which is in essence the most important message of the book. It is apparent that the autors have extensive experience sport psychology and i think the book is actually more helpful if you are into weight lifting than into trading as it is somewhat more difficult to formulate goals that relate to emotional issues than easily measurable results in sports (power, speed etc.) and fixing short term monetary goals is counterproductive as the book states itself as the most important thing in trading is consistency. So there is no information on how to put the ideas into practise which considerabely decreases the practical value of the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Light reading
Buy Elder's trading for a living. This book is so light that I read it in one night and listed it on Amazon to sell the next day.

2-0 out of 5 stars The concept is okay. The book is not.
I did have great expectation on this book. I had been quite disappointed. Instead of elaborating on the similarities for playing pro sports and trading, it's more like a business management book emphasizing on setting achievable, strategic, measurable, controllable, flexible and positive goals of daily, weekly, monthly and yearly time span. I am not kidding. The authors did put tables of the above goals for you to fill in te blank. Though the authors also had chapters on motivation, concentration, pressure handling, routine setting, loss handling stuff but the coverage of them, in my opinion as a veteran trader and frequent trading book lover, were far from sufficient and sophisticated to help traders to turn themselves into a pro athlete and win this highly competitive game. The analogy is brilliant, but is only limited to the title. The content is not. It's just like reading one of those common psychology or life management books. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars To be considered a 'gem' in relation to its price.
I decided to give this book a chance in providing me essentialelements of a typical intraday technical trading system. Sure I wasn't expecting a copy-paste daytrade system that suits everyone.. if there ever was one...
4-0 out of 5 stars Decent book
This is not your ordinary trading book, but one that teaches some real "usable" techniques. The book is broken up into chapters written by different people, so the tone of voice will change frequently. The prize of this book is the Seleznov breakout method, which anyone can use to trade profitably for life. That alone is worth thousands of times the price of this book. I'd recommend this for any serious amateur/semi-pro level short term trader who may be lacking a consistent trading system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Strategies you can use
I have read many "trading" books, and find this one a pleasant suprise. Section Two includes a good source of trading strategies that work, each one written by people who actually trade. Strategies covered include 1) pure price action by Gary Smith, 2) breakouts by Mark Seleznov, 3) seasonals by Steve Moore, et.al., 4) patterns by Mark Etzkorn, 4) springs and upthrusts by Hank Pruden, 5) Bow Tie patterns by Dave Landry, and a few others.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars IPO - The Greatest Legal Creation of Wealth ...
I first decided to check out this book after having read Kiyosaki's Rich Dad's Guide to Investing. In his book, Kiyosaki touched on being the Ultimate Investor i.e. the selling investor, the kind of investor who putstogether businesses that the public crave for and would pay a premium for.The IPO is the Holy Grail for those want to make it big. In the words of aventure capitalist, the IPO vehicle is "The Greatest Legal Creation ofWealth in the History of the Planet".5-0 out of 5 stars An exceptionally useful and detailed book.
This is the perfect starting book for young men and women thinking about getting involved with startups, even if as employees. An ideal book for use in the classroom.Going Public is not superficial; it probes deeplyinto SEC rules and regulations and explains in considerable detail thefinancial quagmire of the first few years.Probably the best text on thesubject.

5-0 out of 5 stars Goldmine

This comprehensive guide to publicofferings in the electronic era delivers on the promise of its title--andin clear, engaging style. It takes a practical, step-by-step approach to anextremely complex area. It's a must for any firm considering an IPO! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much use for me.
I bought it and not much to learn from it. It would not improve my bottom line, This is my opinion.
1-0 out of 5 stars Much overrated!
I had read Douglas's Trading in the Zone before. I had a very high expectation on this one. However, I was very disappointed. 3-0 out of 5 stars Not his best...
I personally admire Dr. Kiev's work and contribution to daily psychology. However I would suggest any trader - or any other person, for that matter - to read and apply the ideas in his " Daily Living Strategy". His goal-based approach is what I live on, and I certainly understand the positive comments made by his clients, but I think the reviews are concerning the book + the counselling they took personally from Dr. Kiev. By itself, the book is not complete. It is helpful, and it certainly adresses several important issues, but it doesn't go deep. Also, it is a product of Dr. Kiev's work with the professional traders working in huge trading firms or departments, and as such, addresses the problems and solutions that can be found in such settings. Even the trading methodology Dr. Kiev seems to advocate sounds very institutional: he is talking about how to get real info from analysts that call you up. Well, being a full time trader who strikes on his own, that didn't help me. Again I recommend buyiing his now-classic book, the Daily Living Strategy, and apply it to whatever it is you want to achieve in your life. ... Read more
