Excellent book on ISO 9000

ISO9001 deeply explained
If you consider ISO9001 more than a paper on the wall then you should read this book. The author tells you what to do rather than a detailed prescription of how to do it. But more important he explains the reason of each ISO9001 requirement. This helps anybody that works with this standard to think about what the rational behind and how does this fit in each business. Decent explanation, no examples.
The author does a decent job explaining ISO requirements.Contrary to the other reviewer's claims, there are "no" examples in the book.Another useful tool would have been examples of ISO systems / process flowchart.Instead, the author tries to get you to buy his software if you want to see any example at all.I give the book 2 stars because it tries to do marketing instead of doing it's job of giving buyers useful information.

This book is wonderfully written and the author really does a nice job presenting the information clearly. Our company also purchased the software documentation quality manual and procedure package that really complemented the book and its information. The author presents and suggests information throughout the software presentation that is all within the ISO standard. This approach allowed our company to be as flexible in editing the manual and procedures as necessary. During our assessment process, how well written and the structure of our documentation was specifically noted. Jack Kanholm is a foremost authority in the area of ISO standards and their structured approach to organizational improvement. He has several books on the subject to his credit.We were certified to the new standard thanks in part to Jack Kanholm's book, software, and his organization.

Excellent for quality professionals, especially assessors
This is a technical reference book of the ISO/IEC 15504 standard for process assessment. The author provides lots of guidance based upon his personal experience on the standard and clarifies several aspects that are not always clear to the new process assessors and organizations starting to perform assessments. He provides a reader guide at the start to direct readers of varying experience and roles to what may interest them most.

Terrific Resource!
This wonderful fourth edition of this classic ISO 9000 resource was released in late 2002. The ISO 9000 Handbook Fourth Edition from Robert Peach contains all new content on the most recent revisions to ISO 9000 and includes a bonus CD-ROM containing transition guidance from each of QSU Publishing's Big Ten Registrars of North America along with the verbatim text of ISO 9000:2000, ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9004:2000. This is a very good deal considering that the standards alone, if purchased separately, cost more than the price of the fourth edition Handbook. It is also important to specify that you want The ISO 9000 Handbook Fourth Edition Edited by Robert Peach as there are several similar-sounding titles out there.

Great Desktop Aid for Implementors
Immensely useful to me as a implementor, thanks to the various subject matter experts that have contributed their knowledge. Gave me a goodperspective on QS 9000.

Nice printing but the Publisher skimped on bookbinding
The Publisher chose a hardbound book with gold foil stamping on the spine only with a nice UV coated dust jacket.The paper is a nice 90 lb enamel stock.But the publisher skimped on the book binding.On a two and 1/4inch thick book the Publisher chose not to sew the binding.The Publisherchose not to burst-bind either.The binding is milled clean then a perfectbound notch was used with PUR glue.The book doesn't even have headbandswhich would have cost 1/10th of a cent per book!Why choose such niceprinting and then skimp on the most important part, the binding? Thebinding is all right.The problem is that the price is not commensuratewith the quality of the binding.McGraw-Hill priced this book like a textbook where there is only a limited market and a limited time window thePublisher can sell the book.This is not the case with this title.ThePublisher should engage in market segmentation pricing tactics that doesn'tconsider it's customers merely students with no choice in the purchase.Ihave only read the first 30 pages.I will review content when I'm done. Very useful book
This book has a very good explanation of ISO 9001:2000 standard. It has several examples to understand how to apply the standard's requeriments. Also, the audit check list is a high value reference at the end of each requeriment. It has helped me in my consulting and training job. However, I would recommend Ch. Cianfrani to develop the "process interaction" requeriment (using graphs), for next edition.

ISO 9001, The Standard Interpretation
A quick read and easy to follow manual. The explanations and straight forward approach to the meaning and purpose of the various parts of the standard make this an easy to use reference.

Read before your revisions
As known by its users; ISO 9000 certificates must be revised and converted into ISO 9000:2000 certificates before December'2003. The book explains changes in the standard in detail, therefore provides a very good understanding of the new version in an easy way. It must be read by internal and external quality auditors besides quality management educators.

ISO 9000:2000 In a Nutshell
I believe this title is mis-leading, since it is written from the perspective of the 1994 standard. Comparing the old standard to the new is a excellent thought, but it should of been reversed. Infusing the old standard into the new, instead of the way it is layed out elements 1-20 interspersed with the new standard. If I were using this book as a resource in helping me capture the intent of the standard I would be sadly disappointed. This book misses the mark.

simple and concise

Not for the novice or the expert
I was disappointed. If you don't know ISO 9001 this book will not help you much. If you know ISO 9001 you probably don't need this book. This expensive, slim volume was not very usefull for me. I got some information but not a clear overview of ISO 9001. I was looking for something like "ISO for Dummies". Limited scope, not very complete.

Great Book for the Small Company
I have successfully used this book at 2 companies as a guide to implement quality systems compliant with and registered to ISO 9001-2000.I just started with company #3.If you have less than 100 employees, this book is for you.

Not for Beginners
While the book does deliever on what the title suggests - a guide to the 2000 version requirements, it is definitely not for a reader who is new to ISO and the ISO standards. It almost felt like I started the book after skipping the first several chapters.
