Microsoft is great with software but not with documentation
I ordered this book as well as Special Addition Using Ms FP 2003The only FP2003 book you'll ever need.This is the book to get!!The microsoft book does not really do a good job of fully explaining the topic.To me it was very confusing.The other book I just mentioned is 3 times as thick and goes from very basic to very advanced.So as you grow the book will be there for all the information.I will be returning this book and keeping the Special Addition.

I actually bought 3 books: Microsoft FrontPage 2003 Step-by-Step, Microsoft FrontPage 2003 Inside-Out, and Que Special Edition Using FrontPage 2003.
Provides Only a Spefic Example Included on The CD
Does not provide directions for "Step-by-Step" creation of your own original web site. It continously refers to the example on the included CD so you recreate that website.

mr. buyen Frontpage 2003 Book is a Failure
This book was a total failure and utterly devoid of structural instructions which would take an intermediate person from frontpage 2000 to 2003! It seem to be predicated with giving information in a BACKWARD fashion interwoven in such a way that left me more confused and dissatified! If I were to grade this book, I would give it a double triple FFF of the lowest order. How serious am I, well I intend to buy another frontpage book, and I am a senior citizen on SS and money is very scarce!

A lot of text that's spread out and difficult to follow.Would have been nice to see more examples.eg, constructing drop down menus section provides a lot of text but few examples to carry you through to actually creating drop down menus.More how to and less theory would be helpful.

Special Edition Using Office Microsoft FrontPage 2003
This is a great book for starts with MS FrontPage.A great way to get started with HTML.

I know my way around front page. I bought this book so that I could learn more. I found that it offered me nothing but hundreds of pages of text that really did nothing for someone like me who wanted to create a visully stimulating website.
Great addition, but not for beginners.

great starter
this book is an excellent starter.with it building a first websiteis a breeze.well organized, easy to read.buy this and a reference volume (like the "missing manual") and you are good to go.

If you're brand new to web page authoring like myself, the "Bible" is an excellent guide.I bought it on the strength of a review here at Amazon....Everything "ep"wrote on that review is true.The Quick Start Book is exactly what it is -a quick start, and it's good.It helped me quickly understand the basicsof FrontPage 2000. This book is good, but the problem lies in the application software itself. Frontpage is the worst ever happens to me. If I'd known Dreamweaver, I'd never had spent 2 weeks learning the Frontpage. You'd lovethe bible series if you're a beginner, but if you want something moreadvanced, then look else where.

Very Pleased

Although the book description says it is for beginning to advanced users, this books is really only for absolute beginners to web publishing and to Windows apps as well. If you want to be a FrontPage expert, do not buy this book.
I purchased this book because this was made by Microsoft Press, hoping that this book has a complete information on using FrontPage 2000. However, upon completion of reading and following procedures on every single page in 2 days, I found that it only covers certain basic features and does not cover any of the advanced features. (e.g. editing frames, creating search menus, using data base, displaying and replying to comments, etc.) I have to buy another book on FrontPage and wasted money and time on this book. If you want to be a FrontPage expert, do not buy this book, but buy the book with more detailed explanation on advanced features. (Running FrontPage 2000 from Microsoft or FrontPage 2000 Bible from IDG are good choices.) ... Read more

The FrontPage 2000 Version
I can't believe I bought this, one of the worst purchases I've ever made.Far from being a step-by-step how to actually set up a web site, it's filled with "if you want to do this, then do this, or if you want to do that, then do that."Perhaps I'm more comfortable with programming books that actually step you through a series of ever-increasingly-complex projects in order to teach you how to use the languange.This book reads more like a reference book for those who already know FrontPage, or a page-by-page description of what the controls will do rather than why I would want to use the control in the first place.IMO, it's hardly a beginner's book, and not worth the deeply discounted price it's selling for.

Yes, I used this well-illustrated and easily understandable book and designed a web site in one (long) weekend.The structure is in four parts ascending from the general to the detail, from easy to difficult. The examples are EXACTLY like the screen, unlike other guides in which there were variations.

Too scenario based to learn anything
I had to buy this book for a class and I do not recommend you purchase this book if you want to learn just the basics.It makes you go through scenarios and they do not always build on each other so there is a lot of rework.Also, you must read a lot before you get to actual instruction.Don't buy the book if you don't have to! ... very helpful
This book consists mainly of 5 projects. The text guides you to complete each project with very clear written instructions and outstanding illustrations. By the time you complete each project, you have learned specific skills in FrontPage. I like this book very much and recommend it as a way to become familiar with FrontPage. I would also recommend two books from Microsoft Press: FrontPage 2000 Step-by-Step and Running FrontPage 2000. I would also recommend FrontPage 2000 Simplifed, by Ruth Maran.

Too Fast - Too Easy - Too Simple
This is a very simple book - really just screen shots of the menus for various tasks and it steps you through the most general and simple use of them.For all practical purposes, there is no information about anything in this book!The typical treatment of a subject is a simple paragraph that essentially says "You might want to do this with your web page - well you can!"Then screen shots of the process involved in its simplest form.Next topic... What an Awsome Book!
This is an excellent book if you are starting to learn how to design Web pages.Make sure you follow each step.It is an excellent step by step book, which also shows pictures to make sure you are in the right dialog box, etc.

Good for the computer illiterate
I just substituted my own files for the ones named in the bookand had my web page up and running in just a few days.I liked the picutures of what to push on the screen. And I'm only up to the third chapter.

NOT a good way to learn FrontPage
I bought this book to help me learn FrontPage, and I cannot recommend it. The step-by-step instructions have errors, which makes it frustrating for a beginner to complete the exercises (the book is structured around practicing with files that come on an enclosed CD-ROM). Moreover, the explanations of how the program works are woefully inadequate. Whether you want to learn by practicing or learn by understanding principles of web design, you will be thwarted. Don't buy this book!
When I was looking for a beginners book on Frontpage, this seemed like a good buy. I was WRONG. This is truly a book for dummies. I hate the way the Dummy Series seem to be written like you are in a classroom with one of those instructors that love to make cute comments and crack dumb jokes. I will never buy another Dummy Series book. This book is a waste of money. The built-in help with Frontpage is better...

Right to the Point
I looked at this book in the library only after spending much time with other books.For me it hit the major points and also pointed out the significance of these points in language I could understand.
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!
It is a waste of money. This book did not help us at all. It is not a standard "Dummies" book. It is poorly organized and poorly written. After much frustration, we ended up spending more money to buy Microsoft's Step-by-Step to finally learn everything we needed to know about FrontPage. OK if you want to stick with templates
I bought this book on the same day as I purchased frontpage, in hopes of creating a relatively simple, but original website. No fancy graphics, but a nice design that I could hopefully het frontpage to code for me. What a dissapointment. For example, I attempted to put in a navigation bar. The book covers this decently, but only if you use the pre-made buttons, and doesn't cover how to alter the buttons to look how YOU want. No thanks.

Faster Smarter Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003
This book with the title of faster smarter did not prove to live up to its name.Another book pertaining to Frontpage 2003 with the name "FrontPage fast & easy" was a better fit to its name.Both books are from Microsoft Office, therefore, each has its place in the development of Microsoft's fine product.
