Our school has used the Labyrinth books in Adult Education for Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access for several years.Out of all the books we reviewed, the Labyrinth series is by far the best.

Passed My Expert Certificaiton with this Book

Watch out for typos and misdirections
This book got me through the exam but only because I was fortunate enough to sidestep the authors' numerous errors, whether typos, incorrect instructions or omissions.Read the book, take the test, and then get ridof the book--don't hang onto it for reference.

This was a good resource, but needs some work.
This book was a good overview of what will be required on the exam.I took the expert level and passed the first time.But, I did find the sections about macros frustrating, because of errors in the documentation. If needing accurate information on macros, you might want to use adifferent resource.Otherwise, the general instruction in this book willhelp with the exam.

Excellent preparation forthe MOUS Expert exam
Exam Cram for Word 97 will provide all the information that you will need to prepare for the MOUS Proficient and Expert exams. It covers the topics that are on the exams. The review questions at the end of each chapterprovide excellent tools to practice the skills presented in the chapters,while the example exams at the end of each section (Proficient and Expert)are good practice for the actual MOUS Exams.The exams are task orientedand the tasks on these reviews are grouped into multiple instructions thatsimulate the exam and the real world.Read more

Outstanding Book
Each skill is presented on two facing pages, with the step-by-step instruction on the left page, and large screen illustrations on the right. Valuable hands-on experience is applied throughout the instruction pages. Then each section has a practice which uses the CD-ROM material for concepts review, skills review, and finally a visual workshop. I am going to purchase the other Coriolis books on Excel, Powerpoint, and Access.

WorthWhile!
After taking a semester-long WORD 2000 class at the local community college, I was still nervous about taking the MOUS test.I got this book and faithfully read and worked my way through it.Believe it or not, it cleared up some questions I had never gotten answers to in my class, and also taught me a few shortcuts not presented in class. Excellent preparation guide
The book is well laid out and easy to understand. After each chapter there are well thought out exercises and tasks to consolidate what you have just learned. The pinpoint exercises on the CD ROM are an excellent additional resource to enable you to practice what you have learned using the actual office application. There are easy to follow demonstrations too for anything you are unsure of. Pinpoint ran perfectly on my computer which runs on windows XP. Also check out Prentice Hall's website where there are additional resources.

Excellent book to pass the core and expert exams
No need to buy any other books.The CD has practice questions and hands on exercises which are very close to the actual exam.After reading this book I took my expert exam and aced it.

Too easy for the MOUS Master
Not to be self-aggrandizing, but instead I'll be rather blunt - I am a MOUS Master.That being said, Emily Ketcham's feeble attempt at MOUS prep for Word 2000 is infantile to someone who knows Word 2000 (and Notepad no less) inside out.Her lengthy explanation of how to use bold fonts just about put me to sleep, let alone into a permanent coma.I teach the MOUS certification track(as well as Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.1) with Tony Muser here at Kansas City Community College and, suffice to say, we've decided to invent our own textbook before resorting to Emily Ketcham's sophomoric effort.Word of advice on your next edition, leave out the how-to chapter on the importance of backing up a document every 2 minutes - in case you didn't know there's this new thing called UPS.I mean, get a clue already. ... Not too bad of a book
I worked though the entired book and did all the exercises.I can honestly say I learned a lot of stuff I did not know before.The exercises were straight forward and clear; I had no problem doing them.But compare to other books about Office programs this one is somewhat boring.There are none of the color pictures.Also while this book will introduce you to most of Word's functions, but will not explore those functions in great detail.Shop around before buying this book. ...
