This book will keep your eyes focused on the goal of getting your Network+ certification!Mike Myers writes in a way everyone can understand, and has many examples and pictures. The book does look big, and it is.Just remember that all the pictures take up about half the book (good thing to, some of it would be hard to understand if they weren't in there!).Go and get this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars I was very happy with this book
I used this book as my main study guide for the Network+ exam, along with his Network+ Passport.Mike says that you will pass the exam, not that you will score a 900 on it, and I think this is probably accurate.I studied this book, taking notes and reviewing as well as using the practice exams.I also bought my test voucher from Mike's company which gave me additional practice exams.I passed with a decent score (763)and most of the material I saw on the test was in the All In One book.
4-0 out of 5 stars it's a good place to start, but not all-inclusive
i have my A+ cert but i did not have any experience with networking prior to reading this book. i passed with a 715, so for newbies like me, it can be done.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for the exam
I really enjoyed using this book to prepare for the Network+ exam. I used another book from McGraw-Hill/Osborne and it just didn't help me as much. What I liked the most was the fact that the author did more than prepare me for the exam, he helped me prepare for actually supporting networks. Great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Passed it!
First off let me say that I managed to pass the Network+ test with a 715 (thats about a low "B" but a pass is a pass). I also used the Exam Cram 2 book as well because its always a good idea to study from at least two sources. One of the sources may cover something in more depth or is easier for you to understand then the other and vice versa.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good book
I found this book (the deluxe edition) well written and I learned a lot from it along with the lab and test CDs included with the book. As far as preparation for the exam, I used this book along with Craig Zacker's Microsoft Press Network+ Certification book. I passed, not with flying colors, but I'm satisfied considering I had very little work experience involving network administration. There were a lot of questions on the exam that the book did not seem to cover well, particularly the ones on fiber technology. The assessment and bonus tests that came with the book were, like the book itself, educational but not the best exam prep materials. With all the braindumps available it seems that COMPTIA has made the test unrealistically difficult. Even though I have very little networking experience, I find it hard to believe that network professionals have all the network protocols and associated cable types, lengths, connector names, and speeds memorized. That's the kind of stuff reference books are used for. So, although the book provides a lot of the knowledge network professionals have, it's not the best exam prep material and would probably be a boring read for those who have a year or so field experience. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely terrible!!
I thought the book was good - while I was reading it! When I went to use the Measure Up testing software that came with it the test only offered 97 possible questions. This seemed to be a weak attempt at randomization and none of the graphics referenced in the test questions displayed! After two weeks of emailing back and forth with the software publisher tech support I was given an update to the testing software that offered 668 possible questions which only used one graphic. My biggest complaint at that point was that I repeatedly found discrepancies between the information contained in the testing software and the book!Everything from connection speeds to distances was different between the two. Some of the testing software questions were simply terrible!Obviously this leads the student to question EVERYTHING they thought they had "learned" from the book! I also found elementary typographical errors in both the book and the testing software (e.g. throughout where it should be throughput, etc.). A local testing facility said they use the Measure Up testing software, but they dont suggest a student schedule the test until they start scoring in the %90+ range.
2-0 out of 5 stars Mistake-ridden
"Looking inside" above shows you the old version of this book, not the N10-003 version. You might not notice that this book has been updated though. It tells you that there are 72 questions on the test and that you have to score a 664 (?) to pass. In reality (I just took the test yesterday (and passed)), there are 85 questions and you only need a 554 to pass.
5-0 out of 5 stars Get's the Job done

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy read
I used the Passport series books when preparing for A+, Network+, Security+ and Server+ and passed them all. I would recommend using this book along with another bigger textbook and some free online study guides. (Check out MCMCSE.com)
5-0 out of 5 stars This book will definately help you pass Network+.
I bought this book last month, read the whole thing in less than two weeks, and today, passed the Network+ exam with a 749 (the minimum passing score is 554). I highly recommend this book to anyone considering taking this exam.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
This is the 3rd book I used to help me pass the Exam.First, I bought a big thick one, then a smaller one, and finally this one.The main reason I bought this book was for the questions: 650 practice questions! All the other training books just give you 10 questions per chapter; no way near enough to test someone. However, my suggestion is to not even use the book.Just use the CD that comes with it, becuase it has all the questions from the book, and you can grade your answer instantly instead of having to turn to all different pages.
2-0 out of 5 stars Frustrating
I'd say about 70% of the book's content is okay. Not an excellent measure of your networking knowledge, but a start. The other 30% is purely fluff. But when you add it all together, this book is 100% frustrating.
1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy This Book!
I was highly disappointed at the inaccuracy of the questions (min 4/per chapter as another reviewer wrote). I had taken a Net+ class about a year ago and worked 5 yrs in Techsupport so I wanted this to be a refresher. ExamCram test prep showed I was scoring 95 - 98% so I felt confident on taking the exam. When I read the questions on the exam, my heart sank. The book did NOT prepare me for the exam. There were items on there the practice questions didn't cover. Needless to say I didn't pass, am very disappointed in this product and it's going in the trash. Don't make the same mistake I did! Buy another book!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars If you want to pass the test, read this.
This book is the antidote to boring or overwhelming text books. In actuality, you need to learn and memorize the same facts and figures but the author's style makes it much less of a chore. In addition, the included CD allows you to get comfortable with the taking of the certification test. The book and the CD allowed me to confidently and successfully pass my certificationtest.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the paper it was written on and way overpriced.
The information in this book is worse than incomplete. The practice questions in the book and on the CD are nothing like those on the EXAM. There are many practice questions that are poorly worded, and have WRONG answers. There are also many questions with TYPO's. Example there was a question comparing DIMMS and RIMMS, but all the the answers referenced SIMMS. Stay away from this please!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This was the texbook we used in our Net+ class in Spring '05, and it will be used again in Spring '06.I still refer to it on occasion. It covers everything essential, and explains the topics deeply but in plain terms. The chapters are distinct, with appropriate diagrams and tables, and the index is elaborate, which make it a good reference resource. This book is expensive, but it's been worth it to me. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars For newbies to Networking
If you are brand new to the world of network administration this is the book for you. It covers everything IN DEPTH, and will give you enough knowledge to function as a Junior Network Admin. It will give you the answers to questions most other books will not. This book is more of a text book for Network Administration as well as a cert guide. For those who are looking for a more "refresher book" or have been in the field for awhile, I recommend something that gets more down to the necessities of the test. I found this book a long read and since I have been in the Networking field for well over 4 years I switched to the Sybex 4th. edition. I still use this book as a reference book for things I don't understand and for real life issues.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book
I got my net+ certification by using this book as my main source, along with some online q&a tests. It's not the greatest network+ book ever, but if you want to know the basics of networking (and want to be network+ certified) without spending too much money, then this book it's for you. If you want something more than that, look for another book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent presentation for a book!
Excellent book. Every chapter has Review Questions, Key Terms and an in depth Summary, not to mention illustrations, tables (and even pics of how the hardware and cables look like!). Each chapter is well written. The book is deep in material. Some books will throw you into the deep end of the pool for each topic. I like this author in how the reader is gently walked through so as not to get confused. I think its better than the exam cram book. I didn't notice the problems the other poster mentioned, maybe I better read it again to try to find what that person is talking about. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I bought this book and passed the test.
This book is easy to read and well laid-out. I took the practice exams on the CD and downloaded the free Cramsession study guide. I higly recommend this book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not even close to the VUE exam for Network+
I recently took the exam and was shocked how different the exam questions and topics were vs. what's printed in this book. This book is easy to read and you do learn a lot ..but just don't let it be the only book you use to prep for the exam.I don't think any of the sample test questions from the CD (included with the book) were even close to the exam questions.Despite all the negatives, I ended up passing the exam but I'm giving the credit to my own luck and experience instead of this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great review book
This book is a great review book and a great source to give you a feel for the test. It is not a study guide or ref. book. It does have a few technical errors covered by another reviewer but overall it's a book very worth the money and time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome Book
This book is incredible, although you should probably use this book in conjunction with your studies, if you are a genius you could pass with just this book. It has enough information to cover the entire exam.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good book but not enough.....
This is my first book by which I prepared for Net+, this is really good book but not enough for studying. You will need 1 more book for complete preperation - Network+ Exam Cram 2, and plus make practice tests as much as you find. I made a lots of notes which helped to me for preparing.
5-0 out of 5 stars A must buy for those who want a Network+ certification!
I give this book 5 stars!I've picked up quite a few certification books and this was one of those which didn't put me to sleep. I found it explained concepts fairly well, especially the IP address section, and many of the questions at the end of the chapter were taken straight from the exam as if it was written by Comptia themselves.Because it was only 288 pages I only needed 3 days to read through it, and passed the exam with no prior hands on Networking experience.A must buy if you want to quickly get your Network+ certification. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!
It is WAY overpriced and as stated previously by Teresa of Ausin, TX, customer service is terrible!!! I also attempted to get the answers to the review questions at the end of each chapter: a NIGHTMARE!! The saying that "you get what you pay for" does NOT apply!!! Save yourself a lot of money and even more time & buy something else!!! Don't buy from this publisher! Buyer Beware!!! I cannot recommend AGAINST buying this book any more! If I could've given it a lower rating I would have!!! Also, notice that the few reviews that gave it high marks are several years old, so they're not talking about this edition!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Edited
There are review questions at the end of each chapter. I have progressed through Chapter 11 to date. Every single review section contains questions that cannot be answered by information in the text. Replies from the publisher revealed that needed information was deleted in the editing process. Their suggestion was to buy the next edition. (Customer service at its best, eh?) My suggestion is to skip this book altogether and find a better edited Networking Fundamentals guide.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not accurate
I'm studying for the Network+ Exam. The book has a lot of inaccuracies. Careful if you are using this box as a study guide. I recommend Exam Cram 2 - much better. About 1 in every 15 review questions is either mis-guiding, improperly stated or just plain wrong. I give it about 2.5 stars. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely a worthwhile read!!
I just took the test yesterday and passed, first try. This book is well constructed in terms of keeping the user interested. Without saying technology has it's fun, sexy areas and the grueling, mind numbing areas that will bore you to tears no matter how much you love computers - this book balanced that out nicely so that you are not reading 400 pages of sure-fire insomnia cure. Likewise, with the accuracy - I have been working as an admin for a few years now and what I did know matched Mike's knowledge almost perfectly. All in all it is definitely worth your time whether or not you decide to take the test. However, it is sad this book will be out dated after the first quarter of 2005. (The new test comes out.) However, I would definitely buy another book buy Mike Meyers; I have no doubt that the 3rd edition will be just as good.

2-0 out of 5 stars Out of Date
I am very disappointed in this book.I used the A+ book to study for and pass the exam but the Network+ book was a grave disappointment.
5-0 out of 5 stars A well written, effective study guide.
Thank you, Mike!I just passed my Network+ exam with 860 out of 900, using this guide as my primary study source.I also bought his 600 practice questions bundled with a Prometric exam voucher for $157 from his website, www.totalsem.com.The practice tests were quite close to the actual exam.I recommend following up with the Network+ certification soon after completing the A+ certification because there is a large overlap in material.Together these certifications can be used to cover the elective exam requirement for Microsoft's MCSA certification. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book, would recommend
I am the network admin for a company based in austin, tx and this book has been very good in helping teach our students material in the network field.
5-0 out of 5 stars Challenging practice, really helpful!
There are a lot of lab manuals out there and I am sure this is a best I've used. As a student, I wanted labs that would challenge me with problems just like those I'd find on the job. That's what I found here. It's a great book!

1-0 out of 5 stars Network+ All-in-One Lab Manual
This lab manual is bad. Because the the person who wrote the lab manual I don't think has a clue what level of difficulty on the questions and situations ina real network should be. A lot of the questions where too advanced for the scope of the textbook was trying to get across. The textbook was great. Mike Meyers should have wrote the lab book like he did when he wrote the A+ Textbook and Lab Manual, those were great tools. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book is the Best There is for NETWORK+
I just got back from taking the exam and got a 833/900 which yeilds a 92%! I was on a timed deadline for the exam as my voucher was about to expire. I read this book front and back and feel Ive gotten the grade because I did.

Excellent, excellent book. This was my main study material for the Net+ exam and it didn't fail me.Like another review noted, read the Fast Facts!Memorize them, get a solid understanding of various environments with different OSs, and know how to troubleshoot networks (hands-on helps if you are new to this).
4-0 out of 5 stars Great for exam prep, not for beginners
I'll get right to it and list the good and bad about this book:

5-0 out of 5 stars The Test, Just the Test
The Network + certification by CompTIA is an internationally accepted validation that an individual has a basic background and understanding of at least the basic information regarding networking.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference material
I recently discovered that the Network+ exam was going to the 2005+ syllabus, and given my nine-year career in IT, I thought it bennificial to certify in a vendor independent exam.

2-0 out of 5 stars Book definitely is outdated. I wouldn't purchase it again.
Unfortunately the book came wrapped up in plastic, so I couldn't see the contents of it. And I bought it at a book store before checking the reviews on Amazon.com. If I could do it all over again, I definintely would not buy this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Covering the new exam objective by objective.
Network+ is fast becoming necessary certification to gain employment as a basic network technician. This manual does cover the exam objectives, however there are needed improvements, especially in the grammar and typos.5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
I found this book extremly useful. This is the only text I used and Passed My net + test with a 96 %. I also used this text to teach a Net + class for my employer. Every student that I had that took the test passed. Well worth the money. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars not sueful any more . . .
This book is a neat book and all, but the questions are too simple compared to the actual test.I took the test today ... and passed but with no help from this book.I got most of my useful information from the examp PREP book, but not all of it.That book is better, but goes into certain details that you will NOT have to know.I would say to invest in the larger book, but not this smaller one.In fact, I would suggest not getting ANY book rated for the old test to prepare for the new network+ test form.Check out mcse.com for a good review and check out jeff richard's geocities site for good info on important areas to study....

5-0 out of 5 stars Exam Cram books are great study guides
I just took my Network+ exam and did pretty well, and the book I mainly used to study from was the Network+ Exam Cram.I can't think of a question on the test that wasn't covered in that book! I also used the A+ Exam Cram to take the A+ exam and also passed only using that book! The Exam Cram series is great! The information is accurate, and the book price is more than reasonable for the help it gives you.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for beginners
I bought this book because I taught it would be like the Network+ Exam Prep and cram pack. But to my surprise it was not written for a beginner like me. I took the exam on the Network+ after reading the books and had no problem passing the exam. After rerading this book I was left standing with my mouth open.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Too Much Informatin
I have many Network+ books. This one in particular has a lot of information other books do not contain. However, this is way too much information for a Network+ book. The information in this book would be well suited for a book on "In-Depth Networking". Yes it can help you with the Network+ exam, but almost half of the information in here will not be needed to pass the Net+ exam. I have even written to the author and was told this book was written with "The learned in mind". I would say you need at least 2 years of Networking experience to fully understand the concepts in this book. This book is not written for beginners, so I have to say its not a very good book to prepare you for the Network+.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Main Book for the Exam
This is a great book.I passed my Network+ today on the 1st try.The in depth coverage and overall organization of the book is great.I would also recommend the Preplogic study guides to be used with this book.It makes for a good combo learning tool.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost the complete package, definitely enough to pass!
If you want to take the Network+ exam, and don't want to trough through 1400+ page books when the exam is so simple anyway, this is THE book for you.
