5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
I love this book so much. I checked it out from the library 5 times and am now ordering it finally. The beer can chicken is the best in there. I have tried a couple recipes and love them all. Great source for those of us wondering how exactly to do something on the grill-very informative!

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific for the Novice or Expert!!!
This book has everything from temperature control and technique to rub and sauce recipes. It covers all the bases from porterhouse to leg of lamb to veggies to tofu, even pizza!!!I have purchased this for myself, as well as for gifts for experienced grillers and beginners. They all love it!It also takes into consideration both charcoal and gas grills. One of the best grill books I have found.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT BARBECUE BOOK.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL BOOK. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES MY HUSBAND AND I RUINED MEAT AND VEGETABLES. WE ALWAYS HAD THE HEAT TOO HIGH OR LEFT THINGS ON THE GRILL FOR TOO LONG MAKING SURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS COOKED THOROUGHLY. I EVEN SENT AWAY FOR THE THERMOMETER THAT YOU COULD GET PAYING FOR SHIPPING AND HANDLING ONLY. I RECEIVED THE THERMOMETER PRETTY QUICK TOO AND IT WORKS GREAT. I HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING ONE. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More than just a cookbook
I bought this book mostly for the recipes. It is full of the "philosophy according to Ted" (which I love by the way). The book may leave you wanting more if all you want is a wild game cookbook.I do have to say that the recipes are excellent. My kids beg for the Deer Stroganoff. It is also one of my all-time favorite dishes to eat with the deer that I harvest.I have tried several recipes from the book and all were accurate and very tasty. Thanks to Uncle Ted for creating more than a cookbook - I read from it while I am cooking.

As my husband loves to hunt wild boar and wild duck, I bought this book for him as a farce. However, it has turned out to be a great purchase. We both were at a loss as how to clean, store and cook wild game until "Kill It and Grill It" came along. This is the only cookbook I've bought that my husband hasn't complained about and it's an entertaining and "colorful" read as well. ... Let me first say that I love barbecuing, and I guess you do, or you wouldn't even be checking this or any other barbecue book. I try to grill my family dinners almost every weekend, so I would have to say that I have put on thousands of barbecues this far. I consider this book great because with the recipes on it I can try every now and then to make something a little bit different (I guess just to avoid a mutiny among my family crew, Ja Ja).

Great book!! Not only are there over 400 great grilling recipes but recipes for rubs, sauces, and more. The writer also shares some historical information throughout the book making it a great read. Steve Raichlen's PBS show is the companion to this book, as many of the recipes are in there. Considering the price at Amazon this book is a lot of bang for the buck.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect sandwich!
Jo McAuley's PANINIsurveys the grilled Italian sandwich which is becoming so popular in bistros and delis in North America. You'd think panini sounds too exotic to produce at home, but quite the opposite: McAuley demonstrates it's the perfect sanwich for producing in a home kitchen and packs her cookbook with recipes for vegetarian, meat, and even dessert sandwiches to prove it. Color photos face nearly every page and encourage cooks to sample.

    5-0 out of 5 stars 1 for 1 - so far it's been great
I'm by far an inexperienced amateur chef...I tried one recipe so far: Salmon filets w/ pepper relish & anchovie vinaigrette. It took me two hours to prepare a 1/2 hour meal but the end result was great. I'm looking forward to my next conquest. Give this book a shot. Happy Grilling!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but misleading!
I liked the book but was surprised by the amount of fat in some of the recipes. Although I believe grilling is healthier than pan cooking or frying, I was surprised by the amount of recipes that had nothing to do with grilling. From salads to desserts. I was hoping for more on grilled desserts that are light and fresh off the grill. Liked the book, but was disappointing in many of the recipes and the fat count on alot of the recipes are high!

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy, quick and great tasting food
I became interested in this book after watching the TV show BBQ Bootcamp on the Food Network (try to watch that show if you can, it will help you understand the logic behind the recipes). Now that I have the book and have tried some of the unusual easy recipes I am more pleased than ever. The Beer Can Chicken alone may be the best chicken I've ever had. It's extra juicy and a little spicier than I would have expected but VERY GOOD.

There's a world of grilled food out there, and Steven Raichlen seems to have wandered through all of it the State Department deemed "safe." No Afghanistan, for instance. No Iraq. But not to worry. Any decent conflict produces refugees, and nothing travels quite so easily as your own way with food. So Raichlen availed himself of restaurant cooks in this country where and when he had to--all to get right down to the meat of it.Read more

For me, cookbooks have two functions. The first is to act as a spur to the imagination. A properly provocative cookbook would be one you could browse through with the same pleasure that you might take in reading an adventure novel. You get to have the excitement without the danger (or the calories). As an added benefit, you increase the store of ideas from which you put together your own cooking. While gas grilling is pretty straight forward for most cooks, I recently purchased a charcoal smoker/grill and sought info on this whole new area of backyard cuisine.

This is a goldmine for explaining the intricacies of meat5-0 out of 5 stars Such a unique grilling book
The Lobels' have introduced a very nice and unique cookbook with the release of this one.I own several other grilling cookbooks, and there are many good ones out there. This one is my absolute favorite because therecipes are a little more than your basic grilled steak or hamburger. Trythe grilled filet mignon with gorgonzola-scallion compound butter and thesirloin steak with rosemary brushed potatoes and red peppers.Don't forgetto try the barbeque sauce. It's fantastic. The book's contents includetips on grilling, burgers, beef and veal, lamb and pork, poultry, game andgame birds, and sauces, salsas, maranades, rubs and other condiments. There are no fish recipes so if you are looking for that specifically, findanother cookbook. If everything else sounds good to you, you will enjoythis inovative book by the Lobels'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!
I have several books on dehydrating your own trail meals and this iseasily the best. It is concise and full of good ideas and recipes. The guidance is flexible enough for the lightweight backpacker or for the canoe or pack mule traveler. For example, some of the recipes call for a dutch oven (too bulky and heavy for the lightweight backpacker) and others are suitable for a one pot meal (ideal for the lightweight backpacker).

Good book about the subject. No frills, but lots of good info in a small package.

5-0 out of 5 stars straightforward drying advice
I've had this book for a few years now, and have read it cover to cover several times. It gives good advice on how to dry everything from plain vegetables to your leftover dinner.I even started to dehydrate my own eggs, and let me tell you they come back wonderfully.Great book that will have you tossing aside those $6.00 nasty premade meals. ... Paul has outdone himself this time. This is the best BBQ "how to" in print.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for those who like BBQ.
I love to cook, especially out in my backyard with the smoker. If this is you, then you will want this book. It has a plethora of recipes that will make you the envy of your neighborhood. It also explains the differences in slow smoking and grilling. You cannot go wrong in buying this book!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Barbecue Education
I bought this book under unusual circumstances. The day before I bought it, I complained to my sister I have way more recipes from cook books and newspaper clippings that I could ever possibly make. And I'm trying to eliminate more meat from my diet.So with a glut of recipes and a desire to eat less meat, it would only make sense for me to buy a book with 575 recipies devoted to grilling and slow smoking of dead animals. But I'm really glad I did!

4-0 out of 5 stars great recipes and fun to read!
This is my son's favorite tv chef;I bought this for him for his birthday, and right away made several recipes, that all worked perfectly (often they do not!)The flavors were interesting and the directions clear and helpful. The desserts are fabulous too, especially the ice cream sundae frozen pie;I've already made it twice. The cookbook is a fun read and the recipes delicious! My family loves grilled food and bobby flay just makes it more interesting with his combination of flavors and unusual food pairings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome grilling
Bobby Flay has great recipes, ideas and techniques for grilling. This book is great and will take a long time to use them all.

    3-0 out of 5 stars Not-easy grilling
I am a huge Bobby Flay fan, and this book turns out some great recipes, but they are very time consuming, difficult recipes. If you want to turn out some high-end barbecue dishes, this book is for you.Be prepared to put in some serious prep time though. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dutch Oven cooking at it's best
For me as a German "Dutch Oven Lover" this cookbook is an easy and efficient way of learning how to cook with a Dutch Oven; the recipes are explained in detail and easy to change with other ingredients that are handy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Too Funny
I havn't had the opertunity to try the recipes yet but this cookbook is a great read. The recipes all look basic enough with a good mix of simple supermarket ingrediants as well as wild game recipes.I have about a 1/2 dozen dutch oven cookbooks and these are by far the best read so far.Unfortunatly despite the listing this is *not* spiral bound and wont stay open while cooking hands free. The second book, "more Cee dub's Dutch Oven and other camp cookin" is still spiral bound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best ever cookbook!
Never have I laughed so much as I did reading this cookbook. The stories are great and the recipes are even better.I used this book extensively while camping this year and it was the first time I ever used a DO(dutch oven). When my very picky middle daughter started looking for seconds and thirds at our meals, I knew I had learned a good thing. If anyone is just starting out or even is already using a dutch oven, this book is a must have! (Try the blackberry dump cake, I had'em licking out the dutchy!!)You will enjoy and use this book again and again! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Guy meals on the grill
This sturdy paperboard cookbook, presented by Men's Health magazine, is geared for guys who are novices at cooking and looking for easy meals to prepare on the grill. These 50 recipes, each of which is enhanced with ingredients out of cans, include beef, chicken, fish, pizza, pork, Spam, turkey, and veggies. Among the recipes are beer-can chicken, red-hot ribs, Dr Pepper-glazed ham, teriyaki turkey, and spuds on a stick.5-0 out of 5 stars The secret is the can!
Let's face it, we all love being a little creative in the kitchen or around the grill every now and then. Who would have thought ordinary canned cola or beer would add great taste to the best meats on the grill? Mix a budweiser with worcestershire sauce, grilling mix, and a small jar of chopped jalapenos and you have a wild barbecue mix making you believe you may be out in the Caribbeans. Or a can of sloppy joe barbecue sauce mixed with jalapenos. There are recipes a plenty guaranteed to fire up your taste buds.Read more
