1-0 out of 5 stars Simply
Annoying.
5-0 out of 5 stars Something for the rest of us..
I keep hearing about how many people get offended by this series and want it banned, or make comments about how "sick" one would have to be to enjoy this or get turned on by it. I find all this very sad. Imagine having a series of books that you love, that you've read when you were much younger and adored ever since. Well, that's me and this series. I read quite a bit of erotica as an early teen, and most of it bored me, vanilla sex, everyday occurances, and the same. This was something unique, and also something that happened to turn me on very much so, as I had fantasies of being forced to become a sex slave. Beyond those fantasies, I'm a normal girl. Anyways, I guess my point is, if the 'normal' erotica isn't doing much for you, or if you just want a unique fantasy world erotica, check this out and ignore all the silly outcry.

1-0 out of 5 stars Way beyond ridiculous.......
This book was nothing like its advertisement.I thought it was going to be a new take on the sleeping beauty fable, but it wasn't.It took the fabled character Beauty and made her a sexual slave at the mercy of a medival sex ring. All the surrounding kingdoms sent beautiful princes and princesses to this castle as a tribute. This young royals were subjected to horrific tortures and were treated worse than livestock. The characters who led this sex ring claimed it made these spoilt royals better people and better rulers when they were returned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love This Work
Again, Anne does it.I have read this one at least six times and am glad I own it.I do have some grave doubts in that I cannot see how a male can understand and appreciate this work as much as most females. This is erotica for girls, not guys.I don't think they have the capacity to truely understand the wonderfulness of this work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't read this while driving
I was surprised that I'd like the series, as I had never read any erotic books before.Unfortunately I bought the audio tapes from Amazon rather than the actual book and listen to this stuff can really take your mind off the road.Wow.Hot!

3-0 out of 5 stars This trilogy sure opened MY eyes.....
All right; growing up I was kinda sheltered.Until I picked up the second book in the series by "accident"--my dad had brought it home discarded from a rest area thinking it was just a fairytale book without looking and I took a peek and YOWZA!--I had very little insight into the world of S&M.I was nineteen years old at the time just for the record.

5-0 out of 5 stars thoroughly enjoyed
This is another book in the dark series that was hard to put down. I felt as if I was one of the characters and hated for it to end. The author kept me intrigued from beginning to end. I was excited about starting the next book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Vampires, Lycans, and King Arthur, OH MY!!
I'll keep this short and sweet.I enjoyed all stories in this anthology.I have not been able to say that before.Feehan does a great job with her Carpathians as always, but the ending was a little too abrupt.Being from Louisiana myself, I loved Shayne's rendition of "loup-garou" mixed with voodoo.Holly was not to be outdone by two very experienced writers. Her vampire she calls an upyr was very hot and sexy. The hardest story to swallow was by Angela Knight. It is hard to wrap one's mind around the ideas that King Arthur is a vampire as well as the rest of his Knights. The idea of Morganna being a witch wasn't hard, but that she used her powers for the good of mankind was a bit much to swallow if you know the other tales of King Arthur. However, this was definitely a hot blooded, sexy as hell story.I'll say it again, just like my title,VAMPIRES, LYCANS, AND KING ARTHUR, OH MY!!!Great Book!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A greataddition to any collection that will have you looking for more
They stories are ranged each different and encompassing the reader to keep going. The final in the book a great look into a another version of King Arthur and his knights as vampire. Very addictive and you just have to know more.Excellant works ... Read more

Editorial Review

Only Georges Bataille could write, of an eyeball removed from a corpse, that "the caress of the eye over the skin is so utterly, so extraordinarily gentle, and the sensation is so bizarre that it has something of a rooster's horrible crowing." Bataille has been called a "metaphysician of evil," specializing in blasphemy, profanation, and horror. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars georges, georges, georges... man o man
Eyes, eggs, bull's balls. The whiteness and yellowness of the depraved universe in which we swim.
5-0 out of 5 stars brilliant story reflecting erotisism and philosophy
This story opens up your mind to a lot of theories in philosophy and erotisism. At some points I didn't know exactly what I was getting into..the bluntness of unusually lude acts can be really abrasive at times..but it is also irresistable, you simply cannot stop reading..and it is such a short story..I ended up reading it twice in one day..the way it all comes together in the epilogue is really interesting. This book created a huge interest in philosophy for me..I've read several of his other books on philosophy, death, and erotisism..very insightful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bare, raw, open--a subtle gunshot of philosophy
Despite his perversions, one cannot help but identify with the protagonist: propelled by his own barely-understood desires, captivated by relationship with a woman so intense as to be unintelligible to language, pulled along by the power of circumstances seemingly out of his control, trying desparately to save adolescent loves from parental and medical power... Bataille takes the twinges of teenage desire we all feel and runs with them all the way out. He drops you in and lets you try to swim back to civilization, to morality, to desire denuded. If you let yourself, you just might be inspired by this tale--not to sexual perversion, but to the limits of the real and the ends of your powers.

Editorial Review

Anne Rice casts her lurid gaze upon the the traditional tale of "Sleeping Beauty" under the pen name of A.N. Roquelaure. Her re-telling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.Reminiscent of the charged erotica of her novel Belinda. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A Fun, Entergetic, And Arousing Series.
I am a straight woman but I thoroughly identified with lesbians, gay men, and straight men.Anne Rice has a unique ability to make her reader identify with all of her characters, and this extends to people of different sexual orientations and wildly different sexual tastes. In terms of the erotica itself, I was very pleased with its rich variety.I am impressed by Rice's non-normative attitude toward the characters' sexuality.Overall a fun, entergetic, and arousing series.I have found that they provide deep insights into the way a womans mind works.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wowwww
I was given this series to read and I normally would not like books like this but I loved it. Once I started reading these books I couldn't put them down. A "great" read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good, but the rest are better
Far too much male stuff in this one for me.The guys probably will like it, but then again, they probably would not understand the first book.Anne, I guess, wanted to give something for everone.Loved the first novel in the series and most women would.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than The First
I really enjoyed this book...much more so than I did the first one.I think one reason I liked it better was because of the village setting. The village people seemed more "real," and while the punishments were still degrading and dehumanizing, at least they were somewhat functional...such as cleaning, harvesting, pulling carts, etc...rather than the senseless tasks the slaves were made to perform at the castle.
4-0 out of 5 stars unexpected

If you read the first book Betrayal of a Hustler go and cop this one also. Yo, this book was worth waiting for. 5-0 out of 5 stars Give D.N. a chance
Having read all of the reviews on this site, I see that ppl either hated the book because of the errors or loved the book regardless of the errors. I'm a lover or books, so therefore I've read many with tons of errors even from NYT bestselling authors that don't have the entertaining story that this book has. The reason why ppl like myself can rave about this new series is because when I was reading it, my focus was on the plot/characters rather than the grammar and punctuation.
3-0 out of 5 stars Slow Start but gets good toward the end.
I have a profound love for books of supernatural or paranormal nature.Although embarrasing to admit, usually it's a sappy love story.I purchased this book based on reviews given by others who had read it and found it very good and intriguing.I was very surprised to find MANY, MANY, MANY spelling errors.I would think it to be embarassing to have a book published with such errors. The editors were obviously not doing their jobs very well. As for the book plot and characters. I found all the different characters very exciting. Among my favorites were Sergio, Elise, Darian, Xavier and Natasha. I have yet to decide if i want to go ahead and read the second book of the series. It seems these book are a little more expensive then your average 7.99 novel.

1-0 out of 5 stars An insult to my time and intelligence
This book was so poorly edited for grammar, spelling and punctuation as to be rendered incomprehensible. Find a proof-reader.There is no excuse for insulting a reader in this fashion.Perhaps there are others (evidently, since there are glowing reviews) who will wade through this wordage and try to construct something intelligent out of it but, personally, I returned this book and book two, unread.Very unprofessional presentation. ... You have to enter this novel with a certain suspension of disbelief. In real life, no sensible woman would investigate her sister's unsolved murder by seducing the man she believes to have done the deed. However, if one tosses aside this quibble, the question of did-he-or-didn't-he adds a certain frisson of danger to the proceedings.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the same old story.
This is a very inventive and gritty mystery with a very likable and unique narrator and supporting cast. Plus, the hero's business, auctioning off antiques, makes for an engrossing setup. While scouting the house of a wealthy elderly woman, our protaganist finds some very intriguing photos. Her request is that he destroy all that he finds in her deceased brother's private room. He doesn't.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic look ...
Fantastic look into the dark side of life, from the point of view of Rilke an auctioneer, who is asked to clear out a dead man's house in a week. The dead guy has antiques and objects de art that the auction house is fairly slavering over. It will be the sale of the century. One tiny thing, the dead guy has amassed quite a collection of pornography, and not all of it entirely savory. His sister wants it destroyed, and it's up to Rilke to accede to his wishes or lose the collection. There were some out of character actions taken, presumably to advance the storyline. Overall this novel was a tight read. Interestingly enough this is a debut, I'm looking forward to more from this author. I was sucked in from the first couple of pages, and it made wonderful reading on the lengthy car trip to the inlaws.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well Written & Engaging
I am not a big fan of mystery novels, but I picked this gem up in a used bookstore based on the jacket raves.Once started, I could not put it down. Most of this has to do with the wonderful writing, much like a Joyce Carol Oates novel - I was mesmerized by the flow and choice of words, the character development and then finally the story. You can feel the dark, charged atmospheres in all scenes. The emotions described are raw and genuine.Parts of the book are even amusing.Usually I am bogged down by dialogue accents from other countries; in this case I was merely charmed.I was captivated by the main character Rilke, though to be sure - he and parts of the story line are seedy and gritty. If that's not your cup of tea, duck out now.I don't care that the plot is simple, I was drawn in to all of it as I read it over several rainy nights when I should have been sleeping. Each chapter seduced me to want more. While Rilke could have been heartless and cold, he came across as vulnerable and real - I prefer to see the personal side of some charcters and his isn't the only one we witness.I give four stars only because I know some people will judge the book none-too-quickly simply on the r-rated aspects of it - to each his own.I, like other reviewers here, cannot believe this account came from a woman.Whoever the author is, I would like them to write more. This would make a terrific little movie. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This is an awesome graphic novel. But, be warned--it is EXPLICIT!!Sex scenes are FULLY illustrated, and frequent. The story is well done and the art is excellent.I can't wait for Chapter 2.

2-0 out of 5 stars I thought this was a book, stupid me.
It wasnt a bad story if you like that kind of stuff. Dont get me wrong I like alittle sex in storys but when a vampire finds that she can get more power from a man's underpants navy insted of blood, it just doesnt make sense. The art was great, very very very graphic but alittle to far for my taste. Like I said I thought this was a book, not a comic book.

5-0 out of 5 stars What you should know...
This graphic novel has incredible artwork and an erotic flair. The novel has actually 52 pages instead of 48 pages.

5-0 out of 5 stars More Of My Favorite Stories
An astounding event occurred in September 1989-A signed and slipcased edition of Richard Matheson's collected stories was offered by Scream Press (called Dream Press for this limited edition of 1250 at Mr. Matheson's request). If you weren't lucky enough to snatch up a copy of that landmark volume, Gauntlet Press is giving us a second chance to own and read these marvels of short fiction. This third collection in the Gauntlet series boasts some of Mr. Matheson's most famous stories: "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" (remember hot young William Shatner freaking out on the classic Twilight Zone episode of the same name?) and "Prey" (Karen Black pursued by a vicious killer Zuni fetish doll in her apartment in Trilogy of Terror).Three of my personal favorites are also included:the hilarious "Tis the Season to be Jelly" (opening line: Pa's nose fell off at breakfast--and it just gets weirder and funnier from there), a truly mind-blowing take on date rape, "The Likeness of Julie", and the story I'm reminded of every summer's evening, "Crickets".These are daring and original stories that crack the roof off contemporary American mores, stories that stay with the reader for a lifetime. In addition to these splendid tales, you'll find a preface by Stanley Wiater, the original Dream Press introduction andthe 2003 introduction by Gauntlet Press. Also included are heartfelt and insightful appreciations by such luminaries as Stephen King, Harlan Ellison, Dennis Etchison and Richard Christian Matheson. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Mediocrity at its finest
Incubus Dreams was 722 pages (paper back) devoted to finding increasingly ridiculous ways for Anita to have sex with EVERYONE!If it isn't the ardeur, its something else, some beast, some force, some outside interference from anyone that is making her HAVE to have sex with everyone who walks within a five foot radius of her.In one day, she woke up and had to have sex with Damian while Richard watched and Nathaniel sort of had sex by osmosis. Then she went to work and was forced to take Nathaniel along in case she needed to have emergency sex, and guess what!!Gasp! She DID need to have emergency sex! Then she ended up taking Nathaniel to work at Guilty Pleasures and GUESS WHAT!She needed to have emergency sex YET AGAIN!This time with some completely unknown guy named Byron while another unknown guy named Requiem bit her neck and she "brought him" no less than 8 times, possibly more. Also while Nathaniel watched. All right!I get it!Anita is hot and sexy.Every man and some of the women want Anita. The ones who do get Anita are astounded by how totally awesome she is to have sex with. Now can we please have SOME PLOT?Some STORY?I like a good sex scene as much as the next girl. For instance, in the Kim Harris series, when Rachel and Kisten have sex for the first time, that is a good sex scene.I read it probably three times at least (blush!)The only sex scene worthy of reading more than once in the Anita series is the first one with Jean-Claude.The point being that all this gratuitous sex is not lending itself well to the series. Its not making this a better, more interesting read. Its degraded the entire series to the point that unless you simply have a need to read soft core porn, then there is becoming very little reason to keep going with this series.Tune in next time to find out if Anita can recover some of her tough, fun, wise cracking ways.

Dear Edward
4-0 out of 5 stars Consistent with the evolving world of Anita
I was entertained by this book pretty much as with the others.Don't worry about characters that were not emphasized in this one. Many of them return inthe next book and the plot lines get intertwined nicely. I like Anita's growing powers and wonder where it is all leading. Probably at some point to a grand battle with Belle Morte herself!I'll stick with them as fast as Ms.Hamilton can write them. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bound In Flesh
BOUND IN FLESH, the second installment in Lord's epic vampire saga (reportedly a five book series), raises him to the zenith of the modern vampire fiction mountain. This may be one of the most inventive takes on the classical vampire archetype I've read in many years. Not since Anne Rice's classic vampire fiction have I found myself so immersed in a fictional vampire world.
5-0 out of 5 stars even more riveting entertainment
This book, similar in ilk, surpasses its predecessor. To set first-comers expectations, please see the lot of Bound in Blood reviews.
2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
As I read the book I kept waiting for the story to engage me and make me care about any one of the characters. It didn't.The book is so blah that I found myself checking (with red pen) all the egregious grammatical problems. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Twice the fool...
Once a fool, shame on you.Twice a fool, shame on me.Twice Bitten, like the first part of Love in Vein, is a major disappointment with a collection of insipid, uninteresting stories. The stories weren't dark, sensual, erotic, thought-provoking in the slightest -- well, not all of them. There are some good stories here that have the aforementioned ingredients that critics made such a big hype about. The ones I liked were "Dusting the Flowers," by David J. Schow; "Ceilings and Sky," by Lucy Taylor; and "When Memory Falls," by Roberta Lannes.I gave Twice Bitten a try because almost everyone told me that this one's so much better than the first Love in Vein offering.Nope.The subtitle "Tales of Vampiric Erotica" is a complete misnomer.Yes, there are vampires in the stories, but the erotica aspect of this book is debatable.I don't need in-your-face sex scenes to make a story erotic.I like subtle, sensual erotica, or sublime stories with erotic undertones, but said aspects in this story are few and far in between. The only thing I did like about this collection is that the stories are definitely creepy and scary.Other than that, this collection series is completely forgettable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but could have been much better.
"S. Fackler 'littlebootz'" could not have said it better. The only reason why I feel I need to add my bit is to reiterate the misnomer of "Vampire" Erotica. There are only three stories or so that I felt could qualify. So if you're looking for the stereotype stuff, look elsewhere.Try "Time of The Vampires" by P.N. Elrod. You can read my review there.Brite's book is interesting and strange, so for that matter it is a decent read.I'd have to agree once again with S. Fackler regarding the stories I liked and disliked.Read this one with an open mind.
3-0 out of 5 stars Eh.
To being with, it's very important that we pay attention to the exact subtitle of this book-this is "vampiric" erotica, not "vampire" erotica. While all of the stories revolve in some way around parasitic characters, only a few of them are the classic warm-thick-blood-sex vampire erotica. Most of the stories are at least creepy, and a few are quite scary.

5-0 out of 5 stars HOT!
When Commander Alexandria Frazier left on an intergalactic mission for NASA, she knew that when she and her crew returned some 1500 years later, that many things will have changed. However, when she returns to a post-apocalyptic planet, she has to deal with more changes that she could ever have expected. Two races inhabit this brave new world, the human-like Takuri who nourish a matriarchal society, and the reptiloid Xandi who prey on them. The king of the Xandi wants Alex - to own her, to dominate her, to turn into his plaything. What is her fate on this godforsaken world?
1-0 out of 5 stars With the Minority on This One
I'm sorry to say that I'm in the minority on what I thought about "Breeding Ground" by Jaid Black. The story was boring, as another reviewer states, and I couldn't wait for the book to be over. The characters are completely unmemorable and I was disappointed to realize that I would never want to pick this book up again. I've only read one other Jaid Black book, The Possession, which I loved (correction: I also read her book The Empress's New Clothes, also very good). I resisted buying this book for a long time, but after seeing so many positive reviews on it I decided to give it a shot. I shouldhave gone with my gut instincts. I think another reviewers thought on the similarities between Breeding Ground and Planet of the Apes/Time Machine is very close to the mark, you'll definitely get a sense of that primitive, we're not in current day earth anymore type feel. I just feel that the story could have taken to a much higher and better level if Black had just pushed it a little further. The intimate scenes were mediocre, especially by erotica standards. There's definitely something missing from this book and it turned out to be such a disappointing waste of time and money.
5-0 out of 5 stars amazing story
This is easily one of the best books I've ever read. The suspense will have you on the edge of your seat, the romance and sex are hot and intense. The book reminds me of a cross between Planet of the Apes and Time Machine. The twist at the end will throw you for a loop! Great story, complex characters, and did I mention the highly charged ending? I hope she writes a sequel soon! ... Read more
