Great buy!
This book was a god-send! I was skeptical at first because I have no legal backround and I thought that making my own living trust would be complicated at best, impossible at worst. In her thoroughly researched and heavily footnoted book, Lauren Stiller Rikleen examines this troublesome issue:why many female lawyers still have not achieved the same professional success as their male counterparts.Rikleen delves into the challenging topics including part-time work, and what happens to the careers of women who opt for that route.She also explains other factors that contribute to the success of male lawyers' careers (being mentored, and becoming rainmakers) and discuses why many women don't enjoy the benefit of those.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
Having survived three years in a law firm (and survive was the key word), I could definitly relate to the stories in this book. The only shocking part is that I was in a law firm over 10 years ago, and nothing seems to have changed. Ending the Gauntlet, however, is more than a compendium of stories of women being mommy-tracked. It looks at the structure of a law firm itself and how that contributes to the workplace issues for everyone, not just women. I particularly loved the Prologue (worth the price of the book itself, especially if you have my warped sense of humor), because it describes how a bizarre sort of company is run where performance for all employees is based solely on money they personally earn for the company; the managing director/CEO is only "part-time" because he too has to earn money to keep his title; turnover is high; management is minimal or nonexistent; and people are given management positions because they are "least objectionable" to others; part-time is extended but discouraged as it cuts into billable hours ... and you finally start to realize that while the rest of the world has moved foward, law firms are relics of days gone by

This is the one that got me through Torts in law school.
This is THE classic hornbook for torts, and is an indispensable part of any law student's library.I still find myself referring to this one from time to time.When I was in law school the lucid and clear explanations of law, combined with copious footnoted citations, made this book a joy to own and read.
Good resource ... needs an update
I used this book in law school, and continue to use it 7 years into my practice.However the pocket part is the same one I've always had -- 1988 -- I cannot find an update.

P&K is a classic
I used P&K to supplement my casebook and class notes, and it guided me to an A- in torts.It's a great tool and a great read.However, it does have certain limitations: the final edition was published in the late 80s, so it does not provide much guidance on product liability, infliction of emotional distress and other emerging areas of tort law.Read more

Better than I expected
This was among the 7 pieces of source material on my most recent exam.It was better than I expected.I looked at it from the perspective that I should use a person's culture to my advantage. With a familiarity of culture specific issues, I can make myself a more effective police officer.I found the author's writing to be of high quality, but book did not make me more culturally diverse.If you are looking for a book that teaches you how to be a police officer, this is not it.If you are looking for a book that might explain why the Iranian guy got mad at you last week, this is the right one.

Multicultural Law Enforcement
The worse book I have ever read.This book is filled with Liberal jibberish and worthless information that the authors try to pass off as fact. This 500+ page masterpiece is loaded with unfactual opinions from people who know absolutely nothing about Police work. It could have been explained in 50 or less pages.Don't waist your money!!!!!

Balanced and Necessary
This book is an important contribution to policing at multiple levels. It discusses ethnic and minority groups in a respectful manner, attempting to avoid stereotypes. It provides the police officer with insight into and strategies for policing a multicultural society. At no point does it even slightly suggest that law enforcement should use culture or race as an excuse to not enforce the law.The introductory chapter provides a framework for understanding the phenomenon of immigration in the U.S., and connects 21st century demographics to the need for the book itself. The authors provide useful information on topics such as community policing, racial profiling, and hate crimes.It is absolutely ridiculous to refer to this book as apologetic or soft on crime.If police officers are not ready for this book, then they should get out of policing.This book is one of the best that I have seen for law enforcement professionals related to the multicultural society. ... Two Patents and more to come.
I've been issued two patents using Pressman's book.The patent office issued an office action on the first patent and I used an attorney to overcome the action.The second patent was issued on my first submission.

Beware of powerscore
A must have for the Lsat. If your thinking of buying the powerscore books. be wary, they will skew every practice test you take because they use real lsat questions from the very practice tests you must take to be ready for the test.My advice is to use the powerscore techniques but avoid answering any of the lsat questions in the books so you can evaluate yourself properly with the official lsat preptests.

Missing a "key" point...

Worth The Investment
This is one of four books on purchasing and managing real estate that we purchased.Although pricey due to availability in hardback only, for those such as us that are first time buyers of commercial real estate, the data, clarity of thought and information will likely prove very valuable. It is a quick read that provides the basic tenets of buying multi-family units.The financial elements are fairly simplistic; hence we purchased an additional book that delves into the intricacies of purchasing and financing multi-family units.

Best I've Found Thus Far
Of the three books I've read on investing in multi-family real estate, this is by far the best.The author does a good job of walking the reader through from start to finish the purchase of a representative property.In the appendix the author provides several very easy to understand and useful financial analysis templates which can easily be recreated in Excel or any other spreadsheet program.

The Real Estate Recipe: Make Millions by Buying Small Apartment Properties in Your Spare Time
I found the book to be a very concise (Nuts & Bolts) and logical approach to buying small apartment properties from someone who obviously knows the process. I'm about a third of the way through the book; very provocative so far.Unfortunately, my copy has no footnotes.The notes are at the end of the chapters as you'd expect, but the numbers they reference are not in the text.Tends to complicate a serious academic reading.

A riposte to free market cheerleaders
"Illicit" by Moises Naim is a good primer on the underground economy. Mr. Naim's experience as an Editor at Foreign Policy magazine appears to have helped the author hone his skills at synthesizing an impressive quantity of third-party research to support his thesis. It is also evident that Mr. Naim's discussions with numerous high-level personal and professional contacts around the world have helped him reflect on the topic at length, leading him to offer many pages of thoughtful critique and analysis. The end result is a balanced and nuanced book that makes a valuable contribution to our understanding about an increasingly urgent and worrisome problem.

The markets are just markets/ legal or illegal.Governments decide the righteousness of them.In other words: what is in a true market: cent$, can now be dollar$.It is the magic of a legalized highway robbery called the stroke a pen.Of course its a no brainer that governmemnts are getting greased to hell and back. Through corporate(legal/illegal) sugar daddys or just down and dity in your face corruption. It has penetrated deeply into the private sector, politics, and governments of today. It is penetrating markets deeper, plus horizontally and vertically, and in direct proportion to their profits that control crucial decisions within current national governments (U.S. included).
