3-0 out of 5 stars Warning! Portions out of Date
I am generally quite a fan of the Examples and Explanations series and this is generally true of PR. The book provides a good overview of the various topics, including a integration of appropriate concepts from the Federal Rules, common law, the Model Rules and the Model Code. In terms of overall concept-based teaching, the book does a fine job.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Prep for the MPRE!
I took the MPRE in NY (where the minimum passing score is 85) without having taken a course in Professional Responsibility either through law school or one of the bar-prep companies. I read this book once, took a practice examination available at the MPRE website, and scored 108. As with most of the Aspen E&E series books, this is a great introduction to an area of the law that you have to know. It is easy to ready, and works well for MPRE preparation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
This is an excellent supplement for professional responsibility. An excellent summary of the ABA Rules. The examples were also very helpful in preparing for the final examination. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Too many questions!
I find this book incredibly frustrating.Generally my dislike stems from that the style of the book is highly contrary to how I learn but, to provide more useful feedback, I'll try and be more specific.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but needs to be updated
I use this book in a college class I teach and have found it to be helpful as a vehicle for discussion. My only complaint is that it needs to be revised. This edition was published 5 years ago. Some of the ethics codes for mental health providers that are included in the back of the book have changed. The American Psychological Association, for example, issued a new ethics code in 2003.Now would be a good time for the author to revise and update the book.Additional ethical scenarios could be included, information on the new government-mandated privacy laws, etc.Otherwise, the book may lose its usefulness as the laws and mental health field change. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for lawyers and law students
Harvard Law prof Mary Ann Glendon has written a fine book on a theme near and dear to my heart: the joys of the common law and the need to return to it. It's been described as a bit short on solutions, but perhaps those critics don't know that common law generates solutions as it goes.5-0 out of 5 stars A lodestar for a lost profession
Prof. Glendon provides a fresh look at the crisis of faith in the legalcommunity through a survey of the recent history of the bar, the bench andthe academy."A Nation Under Lawyers" urges lawyers, judges andlaw professors alike to examine their consciences and try to appreciate thebeauty of the lawyer's craft and the common law.Though the common lawtradition is not perfect, Prof. Glendon suggests that it is the combinedexperience, understanding and judgment of many generations of jurists. Activist judges, critical legal theorists and disheartened practitionerswould all do well to heed Prof. Glendon's words and find new heart in thenever-ending work of building a stronger common law tradition.Writtenin a manner accessible to attorneys and non-attorneys alike, "A NationUnder Lawyers" provides a solid survey of recent academic and legaldebates for every reader, but is especially helpful -- indeed, essential --to every student contemplating a life in the law. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Noachide Laws
This book should be on the bookcase shelf of all serious Jewish and Christian scholars. Even though it doesn't match my belief that once a person is in the Arahamic Covenant they are a Jew, it does give answers to the Believer that remains a Gentile because they do not accept the fact that they are a grafted in Jew. In Judaism, if you convert you are a Jew, not a "Converted Jew". This is an excellent book. There is a great amount of research in it and it is a "must read" for all.
5-0 out of 5 stars TRC
The Rainbow Covenant is the number one book on what it truly means to live in this world according to God's design. Easy to read and understand, Mr Dallen documents everything he writes with sources from Biblical, Talmudic, and other writings. I would strongly recommend this book to every person with a desire for education and learning on any level, regardless of their current beliefs. If you are searching for truth, you need this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Thought Provoking Book
Addressed to the young as well as the old, one may use this book which is packed with ancient wisdom as an excellent source for the classroom or prompt for further studies. Given the dearth of research on the subject matter it is a pioneer's work which, though occasionally controversial, is extremely well documented and written. When reading just a few chapters of it, one can't help but fall in love with Judaism and the First Commandment, the ultimate root of the 7 Universal Laws and the very backbone of justice, freedom, and human dignity. 1-0 out of 5 stars Thoughts from Down the Road...
OK, it has been a while now since this book came out, and sinde i read it cover to cover. (in the interests of fulkl disclosure, i am in the book. But if you begin this book, you to will be compelled to keep reading!Honest!)4-0 out of 5 stars A flawed but very valuable work.
Steven Keeva (who is not a lawyer but has spent many years observing and writing about them) here provides an assortment of advice, tips, and real-life examples to help you become a better lawyer and a better person. While I found much of the book to be old news, every 10 pages or so Keeva says something eye-opening, memorable, and truly instructive. The chapters on listening and service were, for me, the real pay-off, and I know I will be going back to them frequently.By contrast, his portrayal of litigators, trials, and especially corporate practice struck me as simplistic and a bit stereotyped. In addition, those who are unreceptive to the touchy-feely approach to problem-solving should be warned that this book is nothing if not touchy-feely.That said -- and notwithstanding my other qualifications -- this book is an *important* contribution to the literature of professionalism and lawyers' "mental hygiene" (as Prof. Stone of Harvard has called it).Since this book is also a quick read, every lawyer and law student who even suspects it may be helpful should give it a try and then keep it close at hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Staying in the practice, and enjoying it!
Transforming Practices truly is a gift to lawyers, like me, who have been practicing for many years and want to continue practicing law in a satisfying and meaningful way. This book has been one of my best investments, and I keep it on my desk at work.Reading, or in my case rereading, Steven Keeva's inspirational words provides a much needed boost in spirit, and a new way of looking at the legal life, even on a difficult day!My colleagues who have read this book wholeheartedly agree! ...
