Horrifying
One of the worst ethics books I have ever read. It was extremely difficult to finish this book, mostly because the arguments made in one section is refuted in the other. He doesn't make sense most of the time. His reasoning is weak at best. At one point (Chapter 7), he refutes an argument because it is "silly." No further elaboration! ... Read more

Long hours of reflection
Recently I've been interested in Ethics, but I'm no expert. This is a well landed ethics book, you won't feel laden by lots of philosophy terminology or theories since the author treats you as a non specialist. Applbaum gives a solid argument and guides you through different profession perspectives (since he sees professions as qualified entities for social roles) and the social part each represents. Interesting perspective, this book surely made me cogitate and opened my mind to different views and new understanding. Of course this is no "I can't get this book down" kind of reading, but is really bearable and at the end leaves you with a sense of confort feeling you have broken restrictive mental models about professional life and behaviour. Text for class
This is actually our text. I am currently enrolled in a master's program. I would say that it is our professor's depth of knowledge and her personality that makes the class enjoyable, but the text is a great reference and certainly a place to start gaining insight into the pitfalls and legal aspects of ethics in the field of psychology. If you are in a class make sure you check out YOUR state's laws concerning responsibility and informed consent!!!! If you ever thought it might be fun to be a lawyer, this should thrill you! Name of the game...CYA!!!!

It's Ethics-not too exciting -but they need a NEW proofreader.
I am reading this book for school of course - certainly NOT for pleasure. It's less than exciting, but more due to the topic at hand, than the material.What I have noticed, however is the abundance of typos throughout the book. I have never seen to many errors in a text book in my life - kind of funny really.I guess they need to get a new proofreader for the next edition.In Ch. 3 alone I've found 4-5 words already -and I'm not even done w/the chapter yet.

Illuminating tales of wrongdoing
I rate this book very highly indeed. Whilst it is clearly targeted at lawyers and law students, James Kelley has not gone down the traditional route of producing a legal ethics/professional responsibility casebook - and his book is all the more likely to be read from cover to cover for that.Read more
