5-0 out of 5 stars Excellenct Book!
Expertly written. This is a very informative, play by play book. It outlines the real rules of the "Game". It provides detailed information for family members needing to understand the facts of how a custody case is decided, the players involved and who has the most impact on the case.
5-0 out of 5 stars straightforward assistance for a sticky divorce
This is a handbook for divorce where child custody is involved.Well written, down to the basics advice. I have read several others and the author gives real instrucuctions, not theory.Mr. White understands the template of custody and demonstrates how to move the chess pieces. There's strategy and chronologies in this book I haven't found in other books. ... Editorial Review

This is one powerful book: it will grab you with vivid stories about individual kids, draw you in with honesty and compassion, and amaze you with alarming details about how the juvenile justice system works (or rather, doesn't work) in America. Anyone interested in the problem of crime should read Edward Humes's gripping account of how future criminals are shaped in youth, and how the system misses its chance to help them before they're lost for good. As Richard Bernstein writes in the Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-written, insightful, enlightening
Written over the course of one year in LA's juvenile court system, this book is very enlightening to the plight of our kids in detention and on the streets. It has recently been reported that less than 10% of Florida's almost $709 million juvenile justice budget is spent on prevention. I hope to do my personal part to change this in my community, by supporting intervention programs for at-risk youth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everyone Should Read This
This book is so SOOO depressing. And we deserve to feel that way about our Juvenile Justice system. Everyone remotely attached to criminal law or children should read this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Indepth, insightful story by a gifted author
No Matter How Loud I Shout reads like a novel. It is an incredibly well written and compassionate view of the life of some of the country's forgotten "children".I really enjoyed it as well as "Baby ER" also by Mr. Humes. ... Read more

I like this book. It is very informative, comprehensive and well-researched. The manner of presentation is well-organized, the language is easy to understand. The information, relevant to the current issues of this decade and past history. This is a very good reference for those who are taking health care infrastructure, especially nurses; or for those who want to learn the history, evolution and course of health care in U.S.

5-0 out of 5 stars For the honest physician/medical student.
As a current medical student and son of a malpractice lawyer, I found this book intriguing and insightful. His cocnlusions are sound and based on reputable studies conducted by MEDICAL SCHOOLS and PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS with strong ties to healthcare (such as the New England Journal of Medicine). He in no way attacks physicians as a whole. In fact, he devotes a good portion of the book entirely to reform that would PROTECT physicians. His book represents an easy-to-read, fair treatment of malpractice in healthcare. For the open-minded and honest physician/medical student, this book will help you rise above the malpractice myth that is almost universally held by physicians/medical students and completely contested by malpractice attorneys.Very objective and data centered.

1-0 out of 5 stars lawsuits do not prevent anything
As a physician, I completely disagree with this the author of this book. In fact, how can an insurance professor comment on the complex world of medicinal practice? Lawsuits do not prevent mistakes. On the contrary, they invite mistakes by forcing physicians to order more tests, and be unnecessarily agressive in working up any symptom. If I have a kidney patient whose potassium is on the high side, in fear of lawsuit, I may be more aressive and admit them to the hospital, order EKG and other tests and cost thousands of dollars, or in the ideal world, just change some medicines and follow as an outpatient, which costs a fraction of hospital admission.
5-0 out of 5 stars comprehensive and enlightning
As a personal injury attorney for the past 34 years I was delighted and relieved to read Tom Baker's The Medical Malpractice Myth. The fact that there is no Medical Malpractice litigation crisis was not news to me, nor was the fact that there is a substantive malpractice crisis - although I was not aware of its extent.

1-0 out of 5 stars Info reasonable (if dating quickly), but twisted by anger
While much of the info is correct (if changing quickly, thanks to the rise of shared-custody arrangements), the tone perpetuates the stereotype of raging ex-husband who demonizes the wife, and aims to "win".There's no winning with an attitude like this. And I see this attitude leaving woman after woman feeling like she has to simply shut down any attempt at communication and relationship-building with her ex.
4-0 out of 5 stars Realistic
this book is informative. It shows you what you might expect. For me, it was a review of what has happened and a quick look at what I might have to look forward to.It was a good book.It showed me that my illogical, so to be ex-wife, is not the only woman out there who cares more about herself than the best interests of her child. When do we, as a society, get real about this and do something about it?Keep in mind that the best way to divorce (even with children involved) is to be able to discuss things with your spouse and to work them out amicably. If that is not happening please, for the sake of yourself and your children, do not just roll over and let her walk over you.Read this book or a book like it, and seek out an attorney who communicates and has experience with what you are going through. It will cost money but it is well worth it.Most of all, your child will appreciate the effort you put forth to continue your relationship with her (or him).

5-0 out of 5 stars Get this book and read it, take notes, study it, and then file for your divorce.
This is one of the best books I've found on divorce and/or custody issues. It is easy enough to read for the novice, yet is packed with information to be valuable to an expert. Get this book and read it, take notes, study it, and then file for your divorce. It will be some of the best money you will spend. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Helps to "Appreciate the Complexity" : Law is not a DIY,
This is a compilation of topics by a large number of health care lawyers. Each section is "peer reviewed" by another attorney for accuracy. Definitely not a "How To Do it Yourself" book. In fact this is the chief message of the book: doctors tend to be overconfident of our skill, and health care law is a complex field in which even general practice attorneys often stumble. Just as we should not operate onourselves, weshould not assume expertise in corporate organization, asset protection, labor or contracting.
2-0 out of 5 stars Very little substance
This book contains many topics important to physicians. However the substance for each topic is minimal. It does give some helpful tips for dealing with each topic it covers, but will certainly not be good as a sole reference on any of the topics. The question and answer format is difficult for me to follow.I would recommend getting books specific to the topics you need, as you would likely get more for your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone even thinking of getting a divorce!
I bought this book and even though I used a lawyer it was great.I totally understood everything to expect and it did not seem so confusing.I really liked seeing what the forms are.The info about mediation would have helped me a lot if I ordered the book before we went to the lawyer. The advice about custody was so right.

2-0 out of 5 stars divorce is STILL too difficult even with this book..
even with the book, i feel like its too much of a maze for us.. we might have to get a lawyer after all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand and very helpful
This book was so helpful. It explained the laws and my alternatives. Even though I ended up getting an attorney because my case was reallycomplicated and nasty, I used the book to answer questions that came up.Being able to look at the forms in the book really helped me to understandwhat my attorney was doing ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Clear explanation
Another clear, concise explanation book from Examples series.
2-0 out of 5 stars Worst Examples & Explanations That I Have Ever Read
As I read this book, I was under the distinct impression that the authors forgot about the deadline for completion and wrote it overnight. The editor of this book should lose his job.He should also be blackballed from the industry.I stopped counting spelling and grammatical errors within thirty minutes because I needed every ounce of concentration that I could possibly muster to read the unfriendly text.I have praised the Examples and Explanations series throughout my law-school career. However, I might actually be forced to burn this one and to pretend that it never existed. The authors omit important details and provide vague descriptions of important cases and points of law. Also, some sentences make no sense because words "switched positions are."The examples and explanations lack substance and imagination.Text explaining an aspect of law is immediately followed by an example and an explanation that repeats the text. Also, the authors used "P" and "D" as the names in almost every example.I am thoroughly disappointed with this book.I would suggest buying it only if you have no other options.I would wait for the second edition.Surely, Aspen Publishers cares about its reputation. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate Data from a Terrible Professor
I am a current graduate student of Professor Weitzman. My classmates and I are extremely disappointed that our university has employed Weitzman--for hundreds of reasons. As for this book, though... The book says that women and children see a 72% drop in their standard of living while men's increases 42%. Weitzman blamed the error of 72%, which should be more like half of that number, on her research assistant. Did Weitzman not check the data analysis? Why did she base an entire book on her inaccurate numbers? This book was once considered groundbreaking, so much that it influenced policy at least in the U.S. and Canada, causing millions of divorcees to pay more spousal and child support than they should have. My rating is really ZERO stars. If you want to know more about this book, simply Google Weitzman's name, and you will find at least 700 websites dedicated to criticizing her.

1-0 out of 5 stars based on flawed research and mathematical errors
Weitzman falsified data and made numerous mathematical errors and faulty data gathering techniques to make her case that women and children suffer much worse financially after divorce than do divorced fathers.Feministpropaganda at its finest, which has been used to hurt many children andfathers. ...
