Splendid Must-Read
"Unwanted Sex" explains, in clear and understandable language, how limited is women's (and men's ) legal protection from unwanted sex.Schulhofer shows that rape laws in almost all states STILL require actualphysical force or the immediate threat of it: other forms of coercion areokay! Amazing.He convincingly debunks the claims of Camille Paglia, KatieRoiphe and Christina Hoff Sommers that the law indulges weak-willed women,criminalizes 'bad sex" and so forth. I recommend "UnwantedSex" to anyone who wants to understand rape law and the ongoing debatearound it.

It's all about Consent.
I heard Professor Schulhofer present this book a few months back at the University of Chicago.Within it, he explains that our sexual assault laws are *not* founded on notions of consent, despite widespread popular beliefsto the contrary.Read more

An important source
Eschewing sensationalism, O'Shea has provided a state-by-state review of women and the death penalty in the last century.While it may not be as easy to read as books such as WOMEN WHO KILL because it does not have anoverarching narrative, it does provide the stories and information.I amassigining it in a law school course I teach WOMEN & CRIME.I'drecommend it for all those who are serious about this issue. ...
