How-to reference
Filing a patent application comprises essentially three parts; writing the disclosure and drawings, drafting the claims, and filing the required work and fees with the Patent Office (which includes dealing with the office actions, if any).This book focuses exclusively on the second of these three parts, writing the claims.The claims are the legal heart of the patent, since they will define exactly what is, and what is not, covered by the patent; the application will be rejected if the claims are too broad, or not supported, or fail to be specific in pointing out the invention; on the other hand, the patent will be useless if the claims are insufficiently inclusive, and a product can bypass the detailed claimed invention.This book covers the details of exactly how to write a good patent claim, that will satisfy the requirements of the U.S. Patent office, describe the invention clearly and distinctly point out the novel features, and cover the invention sufficiently to stand up in court.It is the classic how-to reference for the practicing patent agent or lawyer.

Two Patents and more to come.
I've been issued two patents using Pressman's book.The patent office issued an office action on the first patent and I used an attorney to overcome the action.The second patent was issued on my first submission.
A must have for the begining inventor!
Get out of the dark and have light put on your own ability to make a patent.You have made the invention (that was the hard part) now go get it patented with this book!

No Footnotes
I'm about a third of the way through the book; very provocative so far.Unfortunately, my copy has no footnotes.The notes are at the end of the chapters as you'd expect, but the numbers they reference are not in the text.Tends to complicate a serious academic reading.

A riposte to free market cheerleaders
"Illicit" by Moises Naim is a good primer on the underground economy. Mr. Naim's experience as an Editor at Foreign Policy magazine appears to have helped the author hone his skills at synthesizing an impressive quantity of third-party research to support his thesis. It is also evident that Mr. Naim's discussions with numerous high-level personal and professional contacts around the world have helped him reflect on the topic at length, leading him to offer many pages of thoughtful critique and analysis. The end result is a balanced and nuanced book that makes a valuable contribution to our understanding about an increasingly urgent and worrisome problem.
Same Business Savy/Muscle As Wal-Mart

The markets are just markets/ legal or illegal.Governments decide the righteousness of them.In other words: what is in a true market: cent$, can now be dollar$.It is the magic of a legalized highway robbery called the stroke a pen.Of course its a no brainer that governmemnts are getting greased to hell and back. Through corporate(legal/illegal) sugar daddys or just down and dity in your face corruption. It has penetrated deeply into the private sector, politics, and governments of today. It is penetrating markets deeper, plus horizontally and vertically, and in direct proportion to their profits that control crucial decisions within current national governments (U.S. included). Budding inventors/entrepreneurs will want this book

A Must Read For True Entrepreneurs
Michael Lechter's book "OPM" Other People's Money is one of the finest books written for creating financial leverage. The information teaches anyone how they can take an idea and truly turn it into a significant financial gain without risking their own capital.
OPM
Only 1/2 way thru, however, an old dog can learn new tricks. I've been a real estate investor for 17 years. If I had this book 17 years ago, I would probably have 40 properties today instead of 20. EZ read and full of very useful information.

Ideas are free, but assets bring wealth...
I wonder if the creators of that operating system had this book, would anyone know of Bill Gates or Microsoft; or if Xerox held its research and development of the paperless office, would the Information Technology field be totally different- yeah you know where I am going with this.
Swindled
I think I know how this book was written.A whole lot of cut and paste from U.S. Law code with some mediocre story telling sprinkled in.If you want to be technical and write in the language of professional law, fine.But this is not the series to do it in.

Dry and boring.Could barely keep my eyes open.
Unlike the rest of the Rich Dad books that I've read -- which were for the most part fantastic -- this book was terrible.Michael Lechter may indeed be a very bright guy and a star in his field, but he is an absolutely horrendous writer.The intro by Robert Kiyosaki was the only really enjoyable part to the book.Lechter immediately jumped into complex explanations of the various types of IP protection available without really clarifying anything for the lay person like me.And no real life examples of anything -- just references to a couple hypothetical "horror stories" that he relays at the beginning of the book.The only reason I gave this book 2 stars and not 1 is because at the very least I was able to get some basic definitions of IP terms down.But I guess I could've gotten that from a dictionary too. ... This will get you pumped up!
This is book is an easy read, with a lot of very relevant information. I own a small product development company and the information here is accurate and maybe most importantly very motivating. Read it, and get moving on taking your product from an idea to making money.

Interesting but Flawed
The strength of this book is that it provides a comprehensible introduction to intellectual property - focusing on patents. If you want to learn something about intellectual property without wading too deep into lawyerspeak - this book may interest you. In addition to patents - trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets are discussed; other aspects of intellectual property are waved at. The last chapter provides dated coverage of intellectual property as it relates to the Internet - mostly focusing on business method patents. This is interesting from a business perspective but the authors do not seem versed in the technical aspects of E-Commerce. Laches and estoppel are demystified and the bookpresents what looks like solid advice on how to enforce your rights against a group of infringers (attack the weakest one first). There are clearly divided sections (making the frequent pauses that I occasionally made between readings convenient), key ideas are highlighted in an attractive manner and charts and graphs are well presented.
A clear guide to IP
This book is both concise and complete in covering the major aspects of IP.Using language and examples that are easy to understand, I found this book to be a quick intro to the fast-growing world of IP.Highly recommended.

A Must Have Book for Patent Law Students, by Flavio Mota
This is a useful book because it explains patent law and patent cases. It describes the relationship between the two. Furthermore, it includes good analogies that help the reader understand the hard to grasp concepts of intellectual property law. For example, the book has a very good description of Section 103--the bulk of an introductory patent law class. So, for all of the aforementioned reasons, a patent law student will appreciate this writing.

Tremendous aid for understanding how to turn your new product idea into a successful business
I launched a new product line several years ago - learning a lot along the way.I am getting ready to launch a new line of products and decided to read this book.It was a tremendous resource!So many of the answers that I had to dig for and learn the hard (and expensive) way - are contained here in one easy to read book.I highly endorse it.It is also very motivational (as you read the stories of other people) that decided to take action and turn their idea into a successful business.Well worth the price.Very well written.

Informative and inspiring

Persuasive advice for lawyers
In Legally Speaking, Mr. Dempsey has created an invaluable guide for lawyers, and I suspect non-lawyers, who need to make presentations to small or large groups. His observations about the art of persuasion are both amusing and insightful.As Dempsey makes clear, talking is not the same as presenting.His focus on "making your case" gets right to the heart of what lawyers do for their clients.Dempsey really wants you to win your audience over and tells you quite clearly how to achieve that goal.Dempsey's comprehensive approach (40 principles!), covers every aspect of lawyers' presentation skills, but still leaves you with one unanswered question: "Can you do a book for non-lawyers?"

A Must Have Book!
Where was this book when I was in law school? This is an exceptional overview of not only the tools but also the techniques attorneys so desperately need to communicate clearly. Dempsey not only tells you what you need to know to communicate concisely and with clarity (something far too few attorneys do) but he gives you practical advice you can immediately implement to enhance your speaking skills, regardless of the amount of speaking you do, or where you do it. The writing is engaging, entertaining and highly informative. There are hundreds of ideas and examples for every attorney. This should be required reading in for every law student and lawyer regardless of how often they speak-we need to do a better job and this book shows us how. Legally Speaking is a book that is almost too good to be true. Its information for masterful presentations provides breadth, depth, and enormous practical application. What's more, it is easy to read. The book is an excellent resource for anyone who needs to be a more effective communicator. Better than E&E, easy to follow.
Glannon is easy to read and understand, and he adds light moments that are welcome during intensive studying. I'm not a big fan of his Examples & Explanations. They are well done, but you basically have to use it throughout the semester along with your regular text book - and let's face, many of us are already pressured enough with all the regular reading. This book is one you can use in the last few weeks before exams, and really clear up any of the confusions on the main subjects. For me, it was invaluable for Personal, Subject Matter, and Supplemental Jurisdiction.

Owe my Civ Pro grade to this book...
I bought the Glannon Guide instead of E&E sort of by accident, but it was fantastic.The E&E is also a great help, but this one is a faster read and the MC questions throughout the chapter are helpful for appying what you learn.I spent an entire day during finals week(s) reading this book, and it was the absolute best use of my time.Thanks Prof. Glannon =)

Must have for Civ Pro
Civ Pro is not something that ever really "clicks" all at once for most students.For me, reading this book cleared up most of my confusion.Highlights of this title are Joinder, Supplemental Jurisdiction, Claim and Issue Preclusion, and the multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter.I would rely on E&E for a clear picture of Erie.One thing this book does not cover is Class Actions, a topic most classes spend a decent amount of time on, although not an easy topic for a prof to test on in essay format...then again, any Class Action chapter will be outdated due to the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005.All in all, get this book if you are the least bit confused about Civ Pro ...
