How to Write a Patent Application
This book is intended for beginning and serious patent practitioners as a handbook for patent application draftsmanship.It is contrasted with books such as "Patent It Yourself" by David Pressman in that the latter appears to be directed toward novice pro se applicants.Much information contained in "How to Write a Patent Application," by Jeffrey Sheldon, may be used as study material for the registration examination for patent attorneys and agents (i.e., the patent bar examination).I found it to be an excellent companion to the "Manual of Patent Examining Procedure" (MPEP) which is published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is the best evidence lecture I have ever heard
I'm writing this review in response to a couple of negative reviews.I'm listening to the lecture right now and it is the best, most understandable lecture on evidence that I have ever heard.Better, in my opinion than the evidence lecture put out by PMBR for the MBE (law graduates will understand those acronyms).Believe me, I had a horrible visiting evidence professor (luckily for others she lasted only two semesters) who couldn't explain hearsay from naysay.It is a great lecture!!!

I know what the first guy was talking about. I'm in my last semester and evidence is my last exam. I have always used audio lectures to prepare for exams and the Sum & Substance series has always been good. But this one is horrendous. This is not a professor giving a lecture, this is an auctioneer selling cattle. I never imagined someone could speak so fast. Sometimes his talking becomes just a rapid-fire spurt of syllables and he sounds much like a machine gun. There's no time to take notes or think about what he's saying. Avoid these tapes.

This is GREAT
I don't know what the last guy is talking about-- I bought these tapes because Evidence was my last exam and driving home for Thanksgivings I felt like it would be a good time to spend a little time on it. Because so many people had rec'd these tapes I bought them on my way out of town. I'm not into booktapes, but after it got through the first 10 minutes and picked up a little--- everything fell together! I wouldn't necessarily say listen before you have a grasp on anything. Be sure you're buying the right edition!
Please note that there is both a tenth edition and an UPDATED tenth edition.They're virtually identical, but the updated edition has materials related to the Crawford case addressing the confrontation clause.

Difficult to understand
Almost no notes or comments on compiled materials in the book.It is difficult to find keys to understand materials from this book without assistance from teachers or study guides.The materials themselves are instructive and interesting.The book becomes voluminous due to the appended rules and their notes.If one has a separate rule book, he/she has to spend more for the unnecessary appendix attached to this book. ... Comprehensive Reference
Criminal Investigation: The Art and Science is an excellent reference book for overall fundamental investigative techniques and specific criminal investigation techniques for specific crimes. I frequently cite the text in the development of law enforcement courses (basic and in-service. The information in the text is current and accurate, which is typically uncommon, as most other texts on criminal investigation simply update a book's cover and neglect the content. I would highly recommend this book as a comprehensive reference book for new and experienced officers.

Investigating: what is it?
Criminal investigation is a very poplular subject these days with all of the CSI's and Law an Orders, but what about the facts, what is real? This book is the textbook for my Principles of Criminal Investigations class, part of my Investigatvie Services major in Criminal Justice. It very acuratly illistrates what criminal investigation is about, it is very much about the factual part of invetigations. Also it is not just about investigating the scene of a crime but its very vividly describes crimes and criminals as well as other aspects of the investigation like the psychology and methods invovled in ivertviewing.
Filled with dry, common-sense dribble...
I can't believe I'm taking an entire class to cover this material. Much of it is common sense, and what's not...is on an elementary level. The book is dry, & I've read 9 chapters in just over a week. It's seriously lacking!

Everything in this book is too general to be of any practical value, especially if litigation is not your practice area.

Needed Excelelnt Reference Guide, Got It
In order to exapand my skill set I needed a book that gave me an overview of multiple areas of paralegal work.Sometimes I would get called for something they would say do you do estates wills and trusts or corporate derivatives? And while my experience may've lent to it, unless you've done something for years and years its hard to jump right into a conversation about it.Not so with this book at your fingertips.Gives you excellent outline of an assortment of areas. real political analysis
Unlike the political commentators of the late 20th and early 21st century (watchers of Sunday public affairs programs and AM radio listeners know who they are), the commentators of the 18th century actually had something of substance to say.This was a time when education was rare, but when done was done well.The New American Library does its usual exceptional job in assembling the material in this book including some of the more important selections from the Federalist Papers as well as some of the writings of the anti-Federalists.Here the role of the government and the nature of freedom are really explored.Life was better before politics became about feeling and emotion.Every American should read this book, but only if he wants to really understand the basis of the American experiment.

Provides a complete environment for the Federalist Papers
Study of the Federalist Papers, of course included in this two volume series, is a conduit for understanding the American ethic. When the Federalist Papers are viewed as included in this chronological deliberation between the Federalists and Antifederalists, they become even more profound than the enormous depth they can achieve when read alone. The concerns of Brutus and Agrippa are answered, the repititive call for a 'Bill of Rights' revealed. Madison wrote to Jefferson in 1825 defining the Federalist Papers as'may fairly enough be regarded as the most authentic exposition of the text of the federal constituion, as understood by the Body which prepared & the authority which accepted it.' The enormous insight gained from tracking the arguments and concerns of the proposed Constituion , and the responses of the Federalist cannot be easily estimated, yet the result is a much more informed conscience of the American experience.Madison in the same letter mentioned above stated that Federalist Essays did not foresee all the misconstructions which to that date had occured, nor prevent some it did foresee. For the concerned and deliberate citizen of today many of these issues remain, issues such as Federalism are current topics and all too often the opinions of the few become the conscience of the many, examining these volume will do much to alleviate this vexing condition. More alarming is the realization that many of the fears of the Antifederalists have become a reality in todays polity. An excellent and comprehensive collection thank you Bernard Bailyn.

Always Relevant . . . and Still a Lively Read at That!
Editor Bernard Bailyn has assembled a first-rate collection of letters, circulars, pamphlets, speeches, and what would be the colonial equivalent of modern op-ed pieces that allows today's readers to witness the foundingof a government through the eyes of (and with the voices of) those who werereally there.But don't be fooled into thinking this is going to be thestilted, polite prose that often belongs to 18th century philosophers ordebaters.Many of the pieces Bailyn has selected are remakrkably spry andteeming with understated wit.Read more

Very Dull
I am a Criminology and Criminal Justice student finishing my sophomore year this month. I have taken 7 different CCJ classes so far, and this textbook ranks among the most dry, dull, and boring CCJ textbooks I have ever had the misfortune to read. Even my Criminal Law text was better than this book was.

Useless waste of time, money, and effort
It is a shame that professors force their students to shell out big bucks to buy casebooks that don't help.
Do support Dressler's income by buying his supplements
Do yourself a favor...if you are assigned this textbook go ahead and buy the Black Letter Outline series by Dressler even if you don't use it until closer to finals. It gives you what you need to know and simplifies things so that you don't have to search round and round for it in the textbook. It's unfortunate Dressler feels the need to sell his supplements and as a result has to make his textbook so crappy. And yes, it really IS that bad.

Buy a companion guide!
The text is not a good tool for 1Ls to learn crim law by itself.Most of my classmates and I found the text to be poorly organized and written - especially for those just trying to grasp the intricacies of crim law.Probably a better book for studying statutory interpretation or philosophy of crim law.Prepare to become intimate with the MPC if you are assigned this text.I highly recomend a companion book for the text, one keyed to it such as Blackletter outline by Dressler or the Understanding Crim Law companion by Dressler.I used both and they saved me from utter confusion. ... I read this book and it was great!
I found this book very easy to understand and informative. I have attended estate planning seminars and other financial conferences, but came away overwhelmed and confused. Jay has a great personal story that really adds to his credibility. After I finished reading it, I immediately read it again. I know what to do and what not to do. I have changed the way I do business since I read this book.
Fantastic Book
I have read hundred of books on finances and I would rate this book near the top as to its usefulness. I learned more about asset protection from reading this book than I have learned from the hundreds of hours I have spent with CPAs, attorneys and financial advisors over the years.

Among his estate planning peers, Jay Mitton is one of the least liked and most notorious attorneys because of his heavy marketing of arguably worthless pre-made kits for family limited partnerships. The low quality of these kits, combined with Mitton's less-than-truthful marketing, has generated some scathing comments on the American Bar Association's estate planning bulletin board. The Supreme Court of Florida in fact entered an order prohibiting him from marketing in that state. The guy is a great marketer, to be sure, but his products can be charitably described as substandard and if you buy his book you need to also buy a ton of salt to go with it. ... Read more

Used 7th edition as secondary material for teaching undergrad CrimLaw
The layout of the book is user friendly, and the case extracts are concise.I designated it as a reference book for my students and placed it on call in the library for them to review.It can be overly simplistic for an advanced reader, but on target for a good majority of freshman students.Maybe the 8th edition will show some evolution.

I used Criminal Law by Gardner and Anderson as my text when I taught an undergrad Criminal Law class.I found it overly simplistic, even for that level, and left my students with too many loose ends.The case excerptsused are drastically edited, sometimes only a sentence, which does not helpdemonstrate the proposition the cases supposedly stand for.It seemed thatthe authors also spent an inordinate amount of text on relativelyunimportant topics.I also found the instructor's edition to be unhelpful. ...
