5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource for Patients and Dentists
I am a third year dental student at the University of Southern California and this book is a great resource for me.It has a very straight forward no nonsense approach that simplifies all the information out there about cosmetic dental procedures.I found the cases to be very interesting and informative plus I can use the information to help educate the patients I see about what options they have. With all the mixed messages out there about cosmetic dentistry it is great to have a resource that is so straightforward and helpful.Plus the price, are you kidding me?!?What a bargain! And the proceeds go to charity, if you are a dentist or a potential patient at all interested in cosmetic procedures then there is no reason not to buy this book.

For quite a few years this remains the most comprehensive and enjoyable book in my implant library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know
I have been a practicing dentist for 29 years and restoring implants since 1991. I am in the process of becoming board certified to now place my own fixtures.Misch does a fantastic job of bringing into view a number of treatment modalities and what the potential pitfalls can be if each particular step is not followed.Much better than the text book that the school is using.Anyone that is considering restoring and or placing fixtures and intends to get predictable esthetic and functional results needs to read this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars brilliant, brilliant textbook
This is a great textbook!A brilliant summation of dental implantology and restoration of implants. The text is incisive, ultra-modern, and is the product of a master thinker who understands his craft with brilliance bordering on genius. The author has written a text that is very rare in that it can impart a brilliant intuitive understanding of its subject to the reader. Most dental textbooks fail in this regard. One of the best dental textbooks ever written.Excellent illustrations and influential text that will provide the reader with a strong intuition about implantology.A truly evidence-based text, where the author takes great pains to cite just the right study to illustrate the right concept at the right time in the text.A welcome departure from much of the drivel that passes for dental scholarship nowadays. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
This book is absolutely HORRIBLE. Everything was just WAY too easy. The biology and chemistry portions consist of one-liners that barely scratch the surface of a topic. The spatial aptitude review problems are way too easy to even compare to anything you would see on the actual DAT. Plus, there aren't alot of them to practice on. I have never felt more "scammed" in the purchase of a book. I can't believe that such a well respected company like Kaplan would dare publish a test aid that was so watered-down. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for 4th year Medical Students
This book is extremely well written and has all the information you are most likely to be pimped on.When residents have seen me reading it they say this is one of the best books around and that this new edition is extremely well done with the use of color and organization of topics. Most of these same residents will whip out their old copies and ask if they can compare the two to see if its worth them buying the new edition.
5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this book if you practice Anesthesia
Great reference! I am a Nurse Anesthetist and I use this book almost daily with my clinical students. The book is direct and to the point. It is logically arranged and well written. I also have the second ed. and this is a vast improvement. I ordered several for my fellow anesthetist. Nice job Dr. Duke!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive
As a nurse I have worked in PACU for a couple of years, but it was only after reading through this book, temporarily abandoned on a table in the unit by one of the residents, that I realized of how much about the subject I was quite ignorant.I decided to remedy the deficiency by reading more on the topic.Although we had a number of books on the nursing aspect of anesthesia, I found that most of them bogged me down in things I really didn't need to know to do my job.It was interesting to learn about the demographics of PACU nurses or about the amount of space needed for each patient bed, for instance, but it wasn't really helpful.I decided to purchase the book the resident had been reading, Anesthesia Secrets.I wasn't disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Valuable Reference
This is a very thick book for a private practitioner. Practically all factors affecting periodontal disease are being discussed, from epidemiology, etiology, pathology to the treatment and comprehensive management of periodontal disease.
    5-0 out of 5 stars top-of-the-line text
What can I say? This textbook is strikingly well-written.Really, a monumental achievement. The writing is incisive, interesting, even fascinating. For those who thought periodontics was basically scaling and root planing, an odyssey through this book's 1,000 pages shows otherwise. The illustrations are well-chosen and informative, and the quality of scholarship is consistently excellent throughout its 77 chapters. It exhausts every topic related to periodontology, from flap surgery to the microbiology of the inflammatory response, to basic s/rp therapy, to the logic of hand instrumentation, and is very up-to-date.Probably the best textbook on the subject. The accompanying CD-Rom was not too useful, mostly pretty pictures and captions, but it's the text that counts.Revelations stud the pages and the book presents a solid overal paradigm of modern periodontics. ... The volume arrived in perfect condition. The large and well-spaced format promised clear illustration and sequencing of procedures, which was mostly, but not always, the case. A number of procedures had quite complex suturing involved, which was only shown when completed, not during the suturing, and this I found quite a let down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, non-invasive cure!
It's hard to believe that suffering so long with jaw pain could be alleviated so quickly by just doing some simple exercises! I was pain-free in two weeks, and now I only notice pain during times of stress when I must be unconsciously grinding. Then I resume the exercises and once again, the pain disappears! Try these exercises before you take any other action! Some 'cures' make the problem worse, and this is such a simple, inexpensive, and affective solution!

2-0 out of 5 stars Needs better editing!
The content is detailed, informative and sometimes repetitive, but please work on the presentation! One would think that by the 7th edition, most of the mistakes in this textbook would have been corrected. I've seen numerous spelling errors and typos, as well as missing figures. This gives it a really unprofessional look, despite all the diagrams and the "easy to read style". The editors should take a course in spelling and typing. If they do not have the time to do so, they should consider spending a few minutes to find out how the spellcheck option works. Proper spelling and grammar are very important, especially for an educational material such as a textbook. Hopefully the eighth edition will turn out to be a bit better.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a terrific update of a classic text.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE trauma set to own
Don't bother with the 7-volume set by the same author. It covers too many subjects in not enough detail. THIS is THE trauma set to own for the practicing OMF surgeon and residents. There is hardly a question not answered within these large texts. Surgical anatomy is reviewed, the pictures are excellent, it is well written, and it is current. It is a book that you should acquire as one of your first titles while an OMF resident. Useful for ENT and Plastics, as well, but really covers the discipline of OMFS trauma nicely.

Tom Levy graduated from Johns Hopkins University, studied and taught medicine at Tulane, and then, to paraphrase his words, actually began to think about what he was doing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Thank God for this book!
Thank God for this book and Dr.Kulacz! A M.D. from the Cleveland Clinic told me about Dr.Kulacz and this book. When reading this book about some of the other patients I thought I was reading about myself. This book is as truthful as it gets about root canals , dental materials and proper procedures about extractions. This book is a must read for the people that suspect that their teeth may be one of the culprits to their health issues. Of course after reading this book I would think most sensible people would not take drastic action as to extract their own teeth ,as one person posted. I would love to stand outside of every dentist office and pass out this book to patients that are about to get a root canal. This book opens your eyes to the other side of root canals that your dentist will not tell you before the procedure. By the way your natural teeth are not better if they are giving you pain and lowering your immune system. You must read this book if you are searching for the truth about your teeth problems. Dr.Kulacz has integrity and morals which is what you would expect from any doctor. If I could I would rate this book higher than a five.

5-0 out of 5 stars Vital information for your health
I have not only read this book, but have also been a patient of Dr. Kulacz.Unfortunately, many detractors choose wishful thinking over verifiable, scientific fact. They pay for their ongoing denial with health troubles.Nobody wants to lose any teeth, but if the alternative is long term devastating health problems, the loss of a tooth is a small price to pay.I was in this category with both root canals and the related dental infections and they badly affected my health.Once removed I felt noticeably better. To further prove the case, the extracted tooth was sent to a lab for testing and the results confirmed serious infection.Study the subject and look at the evidnce and you will agree with me.Read all the related books as the evidence is overwhelming.Find one of the very few dentists around the country experienced in this protocol.PS, Most dentists know virtually nothing about any of this.It is therefore your health and your responsibility. ...
