Not what I was looking for.
This book was very dry, and not really what I was looking for, so maybe that is why I didn't like it very much.I wanted a book on adult learning, but this didn't have much too it for the price.Read a few pages of the book before you decide to buy.

Great for teaching
This was a great book for it's purpose.There is a lot of valuable information and I would suggest it to anyone that is involved in adult education.

This is a great resource for adult ed teachers!
A professor had given us a small section of this to read in our coursework, and I was so impressed by it I decided to buy the book.Well worth the money!

Motivation
"Before people can learn, they must be motivated to learn." Completng your Doctoral dissertation or Master's thesis on 2 semesters or less
This book is excellent, it is motiviative, sensible, and plain common sense. Written in a manner to put everything in perspective.
Excellent Overview of the Dissertation/Thesis Process
In this book, Dr. Evelyn Hunt Ogden outlines a practical, yet optimistic, approach for finishing a Doctoral dissertation in two semesters or less. She is also quick to point out that the book is essentially suited to a Master's thesis. I will point out that in programs that have de-emphasized thesis writing, instead relying on a written 'Graduate Research Project' (GRP, which also goes by other names), generally of smaller scope than a thesis,this is also very applicable. Optimistic, but then, you need some optimism in this process
I waited a mere 6 months for my copy of this book and I had given up hopewhen a week ago the email came saying it was available.Was it worth thewait?YES!I have read almost every one of these types of books I couldget my hands on (probably to procrastinate more than in search ofinspiration!) and I can safely say that this book along with DavidSternberg's How to Complete and Survive a Doctoral Dissertation haveoffered the best advice.Read more

Urgently Needed Perspectives
In the Preface, the authors explain that this book "is intended to address the prevailing lack of information and understanding about adult women's learning and education....Changing social and economic factors have led to tremendous growth in the number of women who are participating in formal and informal learning activities....This book uses a feminine perspective as the organizing framework for the book's contents and as a standpoint from which to assess the current [i.e. 2000] understanding of women's learning." The authors identify several "key assumptions" and then explain in greater detail what their purposes are. (There are four.) The material is carefully organized and developed within nine chapters. The first sets the scene. Chapters Two through Six "explicate the major themes associated with women's learning." In Chapter Seven, the focus shifts to several feminist pedagogies. In Chapter Eight, the reader is asked to consider the implications of what has been presented thus far. The final chapter addresses other implications: those for urgently-needed and expanded future research and scholarship on women's learning. Then in a Postscript, the authors (in effect) congratulate women on what they have accomplished thus far and then challenge them to believe in their ability to achieve even more.Read more

Handy
This is a helpful guide to help a teacher plan lessons for language classes. Each lesson is easily adaptable to all ages and levels. The lessons are organized according to topic and actually go in order as if you are actually beginning a class, commencing with get-to-know-you exercises. There are a lot of fun activities included that coincide with each lesson's topic. If you have only one training book to keep....
I found Eitington's The Winning Trainer the best of the category. If you were to have only one training book for limited space available for your suitcase, I recommend this. Actually, when I leave my office for an overseas assignment, The Winning Trainer is always my companion. It is comprehensive and practical. Yes, it is the reference for active trainers.

A Trainer's Bible
No one in the training field or doing anything even close (teachers take note!) should be without this book.I started workshops for high school students and have done exhaustive research, and spent a great deal of money.This book is by far one of the most outstanding resources anyone could have.I have covered mine to keep it from tattering, since I use it constantly in planning.It is so comprehensive...you can start with just a subject/topic...and find dozens of ways to present it.You can be a novice, or an experienced professional and benefit from this book.I simply don't have the words to express how valuable it has been to me. It is a gold mine of information about the teaching and learning processes.

This book is an easy way to learn speedwriting!
I needed to be able to take dictation at 80 wpm, in a very short amount of time, to pass an exam to keep my job.Never having taken a shorthand course & not being able to find a place to learn shorthand, I cameacross this book.I was amazed at how easy it was - this book takes youstep by step through the process of learning the rules of speedwriting, aswell as giving you practice sessions to build up your speed.It's a skillthat you can use for more than taking dictation - just for writing yourselfquick notes.The book is simple to understand & gets right to thepoint - without it, I would have lost my job!

The proof is in the cert.
At first I bought the Brady 3rd ed. EMT-B book to study with because I heard good things about that book. But when I saw this book and the price I instantly bought the REA book. Compared to the other book I bought this book was the biggest help and I got more from it. Some Serious Omissions in the First Edition
"Homeland Security: A Complete Guide to Understanding, Preventing and Surviving Terrorism", contains two chapters addressing the Islamic aspects of the current era of terrorism and jihad activity: Chapter 4, "The Mind of the Terrorist: Why They Hate Us", and Chapter 5, "Al-Qaida and Other Islamic Extremist Groups: Understanding Fanaticism in the Name of Religion". Each chapter is complimented with endnotes (29 for Chapter 4, and 19 for Chapter 5) and the absence of a bibliography suggests that the endnotes comprise the primary sources for each chapter.There are no Islamic sources.
A must read for everyone concerned with National Security!!!
