Makes drivers more human
For Nascar fans like me Poole takes us behind the scenes and gives us some idea of what the drivers are like. Beware that the stories arent all comical or anything like that. But if you're into racing, it provides a depth that humanizes the drivers, warts included.
Too funny!
A fun read for all NASCAR fans!We definitely recommend it for non-serious reading!!

Cover art & title are a little misleading
This is a pretty good book, but not if you're expecting stories from the current era of NASCAR stars, for example, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.Most of the stories relate to the older stars, and that's fine, but considering the cover art and the lead in for the title, I expected a little more of the "new" and a lilttle less of the "old" stories. ... How To vs. Can Do
My purpose for ordering this book was to gain the knowledge of how to do this type of work.While the "how to" is limited, the advantage to me is to learn what can be done and this book covers this well.Overall, I am pleased that I ordered it.

This book paid for itself at page 3 and has continued to do so ever since. Why no 5 star rating well its because I cant afford some of the equipment and he provides no poor mans alternative.

good but old
This book was written in the early eighties, and it shows. There is some valuable information, but it is aimed at the sheet metal shaping world- for instance, how to put compound curves into metal.

Great Book
You won't be disappointed, from air/fuel/spark to control systems, this is a very well written and informative book.

Excellent treatment of engine controls
The book title, Understanding Automotive Electronics, is an understatement. This book, in chapters 5, 6, and 7, gives one of the best explanations of modern engine control systems I have ever read. Every major concept of OBD-II vehicles is discussed in clear precise language. These chapters alone are worth the price of the book.Read more

This book's price guide needs to be changed completely!
I feel that the price guide was very badly placed, it is in the back of the book. The listings of the cars were in alphabetical order to some extent. I prefer the prices to be right under their corresponding cars.

A must need book for serious Hot Wheels collectors
I came across this book while shopping at my local bookstore, I started looking through it, and without a moments hesitation, I knew I needed this book. It is very good as a refrence book, also for giving me information onmy collection. Very well done book.

Poorly organized and difficult to use
Due to the organization of this book it is extremely hard to locate any particular diecast unless you have the diecast number or item name or designation. Photos are very small and indistinct making it hard toidentify items.It appears that not all diecasts produced are listed inthe yearly listings nor are all photos shown.Overall rating on thispublication is 2 stars or less! ... The Bible
This is the bible for maintenance and repair on the 7 Series E32 BMW.
Good book, wrong car on the cover.
With all research Bentley does to make a wonderful repair manual, why couldn't they put the right car on the cover?The car on the cover is a 7 from 1997-2003.

The Best Generalist's Book On Classic Cars
No book is perfect for the collector, but this is probably the best for car collectors.With over 1000 of the world's finest models, from over 200 marques, it has certainly captured the best amongst its pages.It also has some strange picks, but it doesn't claim to only list the top cars.And the world doesn't start in 1945 for this author, his team goes back as far as 1891 for their car selections. I enjoyed reading this RV book. I found it to be easy reading and presented in an easy to digest format. The security tips for your house while you are away and health & safety tips are just a couple of subjects out of many, that are invaluable and give you peace of mind! I have been RVing for years and even learned things I hadn't come across before. I am really impressed that another woman RVer knows so much about the systems of an RV and among other things knows how to actually dump the holding tanks. After reading this book you will also know how! One of the most important and overlooked subjects about your RV are the weight issues involved. Peggi gives information about where and how to weigh your RV and terminology involved this includes motorized and towables. Not for the converted
A fine little book, but not for anyone who has already decided to take the step to become carless or car-lite. This book is 10% manual, made up mostly of common sense ideas (never a bad thing), and 90% arguments and statistics meant to convince you to go car free. If you're on the fence about giving up your ride, this is a great read. If you're looking for a book about the experience of being car free or a good instruction manual on doing so, maybe not the way to go. An interesting little read, though.

A book ahead of its time!
This is a tremendous, hard hitting work on many, many levels. Above all, Balish's appeal for freeing ourselves from the tyranny of our automobiles will resonate with a wide readership - those wishing to save money, (LOTS of money), those wanting to simplify their lives, and those wishing to build a more sustainable future.

Excellent and Heart Warming
A must have for any pet lover. This book is so well written and the photographs are beautiful. The stories allow some insight into the private lives of many of NASCAR's greatest drivers, as well as quite a few of the greatest drivers in the history of Stock Car racing. Highly reccommended!

The bible for adventure motorcycling
I read this book and fount a wealth of information about how to organize travels - infos that I was unable to find on the web until I bought the book.
Adventure Motorcycling Handbook, a must have for dual sport touring enthusiasts
If your planning a trip, this is a must have.Covers everything from bikes, upgrades to them, paperwork, riding gear i.e. luggage, clothing and how to pack it all in.Also what to expect while travelling through various countries.General maps of possible tours through 5 continents.How to handle border officials and what to look out for.Stories of travellers and their experience while riding.Even if your a seasoned motorcycle traveller you will still find it an informative and interesting read.

Troubling
In STORM the Germans are an impersonal calamity, like Katrina.We see French of every class and sort scatter like ants whose anthill has just been stepped on. There's good sardonic social observation here and I'm afraid it's probably accurate.But as a reader you sit and feel rather smug at the spectacle.In DOLCE we meet the German occupiers. They are not the evil Huns we have met hundreds of times in the war movies. They have names, faces and, be it confessed, impeccable behavior.(The irony of what was in store for the author is heavy here.) But the troubling part is how naturally so many of the French in this particular village fall into the routine of collaboration.Without judging or condemning, Nemirovsky shows us how it must have happened.The scenes are so vivid here you can't help placing yourself there, and wondering if you would have been a whit more heroic. Or, for that matter, if you had been one of the Germans, would you have been much different than they? Be honest.
How it was possible
Reading these two novellas was, for me, like standing for hours, looking at painting after painting by a great artist.For every page, every chapter was filled with amazing colorful details; the details that make up the lives of those populating these novellas--lives torn apart by the terrible earthquake that results from a defeat.
Novel of the year
Storm in June is the best book I've read since Vikram Seth's An Equal Music.The second part of Suite Francaise is good, but Storm in June is a gem everyone will love.I didn't expect to laugh out loud with the Nazi's at the door.Happy reading.I'm wondering when Nemirovsky's earlier novels will be translated into English. ... There Is No Better Reference for the T3
No better manual exists for the Type2(T3) Vanagon. Like others here, I feel the negative reviews need to be addressed for their incorrect assumptions regarding what a Factory Repair Manual is.
Note to "Do-It-Yourselfers"
Let's get something straight right off the bat about this manual, it's the Factory Repair Manual, originally intended for mechanics at the dealership. It assumes you are experienced and already know which end of a screwdriver works. Its not going to teach you 'how' to work on your Vanagon, it's the 'bible' on the repair procedures on for your Vanagon. I suspect the negative reviews for this manual are mostly from 'newbies' and novices. What this manual is most useful for is the factory approved method for servicing your Vanagon, not "Auto Mechanics 101'. So if you're looking for a manual to teach you how to work on your Vanagon, THIS IS NOT IT! On the other hand, if you looking for a manual that explains the factory approved method of working on your Vanagon, with all the necessary details and specifications, "BINGO". Naturally, its a translation of a German manual so you have to take that into account too, a translation is only as good as the translator, trust me, I work for a German company in their US plant and this is a very common problem. So be warned about what you're getting if you order this manual.

Essential for the mechanic
This book is a bible for the mechanic.I found information here that helped me fix starter, ignition, valve and fuel injection problems (this reference manual is considered essential in vanagon discussion groups).Whoever says the information is wrong or incomplete has their heads somewhere other than on their shoulders.As mentioned in another review, the only (less than minor) drawback is the lack of an index which would help considerably with troubleshooting a problem.Of course with that addition the book would probably become even more expensive than it already is.My major complaint is with the ridiculous prices of all Bentley products.A simple fuel injector costs more now than my first vanagon did years ago, which is even more astounding when you consider that a fuel injector involves about the same electronics wizardry as a $.35 light switch. ... A Great Start

As an automotive student I found this book to be very helpful. It deals with all the basics of todays advanced automobiles. It cover all areas from: basic electricity, ohms law, engine performance, ignition, cooling, emissions, transmissions, brakes and even a little auto body. The ideal engine rebuilders book at a bargain price.
After I had read both books on Nissan engines by this author I bought this book too.This book is set out so you can diagnose faults first to determine if you need to rebuild or not.Then it goes into engine teardown in detail.It describes the rebuilding process.The cylinder heads are covered in a separate chapter which the author explains.
Sometimes it helps to just read the instructions.
Having built several motors for my cars and helping a few friends (each) build a few motors, it was good to just solidify what I knew, and double check those "I thought so" things. I mean you won't learn 20 years worth of experience from any book, but this one is well written and kinda lets you know when you are leaving some horses out on the bench.
