I purchased this book after hearing Mr. Sutton on a syndicated radio show.His information is right on the money, specifically mine.I am not a person who enjoys confrontation, but this book gave me the courage to stand up for myself.The first dealership I went to would not even budge on their new-car price or their offer for my trade-in. THE best car-buying guide for 95% of us
Unless you're into super-performance or the finer points of car technology, Consumer Reports is your best resource, and probably the only resource you need. On any car that you want to check, Consumer Reports tells you clearly what type of car it is and who it's for, how reliable it has been, how satisfied its customers have been, and how much it holds its value. There's also data and commentary on performance, plus other "specs," definitely enough for 95% of us but not as much as in the "harder-core" car publications. So if you're an extreme car enthusiast, you may be disappointed. But Consumer Reports does an excellent job of including the things that the great majority of people are likely to want to see--and to be able to understand! Much of the material in the "harder-core" publications is Greek to us, right? And in fact, some of the technical material in Consumer Reports is likewise, but not so much that it's intimidating. I think it's just enough to help you stretch your technical knowledge, without turning your brain to mush.

This book is invaluable to MBZ lovers.It is written with love and experience and knowledge.If you've seen the others in this series (BMW, Jaguar, Corvette, Porsche, etc.) they simply don't compare in quality.The photos are terrific; the advice honest. Before you ever hit the car lot
Before you ever hit the car lot you need to be prepared. This book is a "gotta have". The other books you need are Consumers Reports books and the NADA price guides. Having the facts and details readily at hand can save you a ton of cash and keep you from ground into hamburger by the car salesmen. This also goes for buying from private parties. Locked into this is using CARFAX or a related on line car history check. If you know the history of the car can save you a lot GRIEF. Don't be rushed into buying anything. Take your time and most of all don't put up with the high pressure sales tactics of car salesmen or pushy owners. ... Read more

Great Overview Of Ducati Models
One of a series of Osprey motorcycle buyer's guides.I picked this up when contemplating buying a 1980s Mike Hailwood Replica.(I didn't, bad decision!)Coverage is complete for models up to 1990.The advantage of this printing over a later one is fuller coverage of some of the older models.Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in exploring Ducatis.It would be five stars, but one of the later printings is better for anything after 1990. ... NADA 2004 BLUEBOOK
I WAS BEING AUDITED FOR THE 2004 TAX YEAR AND TO MY DISBELIEF, THE IRS DOES NOT HAVE ANY WAY OF SUBSTANTIATING WHAT I CLAIMED ON THE VALUE OF A CAR THAT WAS DONATED TO CHARITY. Must read for used 911 buyers
I'd suggest this is a must read if your going to be buying a used 911. It gives you everything you need to look for in each model year and a reasonable amount of history on the marque to boot. It could probably go into a little more detail on the faults and how they are rectified/managed so that you have a little more info if your actually buying a model that has a known fault. But a very good book that I would recommend.

Nice pictures but too repetitive
Compared to other 911 Buyer's guides on the shelf this one looks the nicest. The pictures are good but about half way through the happy feeling disappears:
Too dissuasive
I'm glad I started to read this book after I bought my 911, otherwise I would never have bought the car. The book's approach to buying is "If the car has problem x, then thank the seller and walk away". The car I bought had many of the problems which the book mentioned, but my local garage solved most of them in a day and for less than 1000 euros/600 pounds/1000 dollars. I found the book to be an excellent guide to the different models and their differences, but the buying recommendations seem too stringent. ... Read more

A Guide to Models With Comments on Desirability/Value
The Mustang represents the difference between cars designed by financial types from those designed by car types. Just before the Mustang the need for smaller cars became clear. McNamara was in charge of Ford and his answer was the Falcon. I don't know of many people who think the Falcon was the high point of Ford's history. Lee Iacocca took the basic Falcon, put new skins on it and the Mustang was born. We are now in another period where the financial types are in charge, and the blah cars and the red ink coming out of Detroit show it. ==It's been forty years since the Mustang came out in 1964, and even the original ones still look great. In fact you might argue that the originals were the best of any of the Mustangs that followed. ==This book spends over half of its pages describing the various Mustangs that were built. The back of the book talks about restoration. But don't expect details on how to restore a car. This part covers things like maintenance and where to get parts. It is fairly general in nature. This text provides a good overview of the MG marque across several decades and offers the reader key points on each model. Because the scope is broad, there is not a lot of information on any one model. The system for ratingthe models is perhaps too simplistic but does provide a very basicfoundation.
