If your looking for Pickup info this book would be ok, but to say Scout in the title is misleading. of the 130 pages, only 15 were scout & scout II related. NOT counting reproduced adds (blurry) there were only 3 photos of a Scout (I).All were front end shots and were not of any help.To be fair, the text contains interesting information, and a few more photos of scout II.Even those photos do little to support the text.Many times special packages are mentioned, but no info is given about these, other that upgraded seats or specal paint.Gosh a photo here would be helpful! detail in the pickup section much more thought out, scout seemed to be add on/marketing last minute thing. sorry ... Read This Before You Shop
The `Introduction' says its information is taken from sources like owner complaints, lawsuits, judgments, and manufacturer service bulletins. These are facts that won't be found in advertising or the hobby magazines that are dependent on manufacturer's advertising. This book should be read by anyone who intends to buy a car. Both new and used cars can vary according to parts and wear; there is no guarantee that what you read in this book will apply to every car. It points out that air-bags can be deadly (p.1). [Even the paid lobbyists for air-bags never told the whole truth.] Only seatbelts are reliable and safe, if used. Note the varying quality of cars over the decades (p.5).
You've got to have this book if you're buying a car
I've been buying the Lemon-Aid books for many years, and they've saved me piles of money... either by steering me away from car models with bad repair and maintenance histories, or by giving me solid insider advice on how to negotiate with the car companies over repair costs. So: invest about [$] or less, and save thousands. Can't beat that for a bargain.

Saved me a lot of money
This book saved me thousands of dollars. By providing me with detailed information about a known defect in my Windstar transmission, it gave me the ammunition I needed to negotiate a settlement with Ford after the transmission disintegrated. Not very practical
I have an interest in vintage Honda motorcycles, so I bought this book as a reference.There were only 3 (THREE) Honda's covered! This book might make for some interesting browsing if your interest is pre-1960 (or even pre WW-II) cycles.Many different manufacturers are shown, but only a handful of each one. For the international classic-motorcycle-collector this is a comprehensive book on the different antique and classic bikes that are available in the European market, mainly in the UK. It covers mostly the known models indetail, sometimes lacking in the more popular ones. The pricing of theGuide is based on the British market but as far as I could compare to theactual values I encountered - there are differences (but that may beacceptable). The model pricing doesn't take in account the codition of thebike and in some cases its availability (and market demand), but is fair. Ifound it very useful (as the managing secretary of the Israel Classic &Collectors Vehicle Club) in aiding many of our members to value theirpurchases from abroad and while searching for finds in other Europeancountries - with a very good feedback on most parts. This is a must read for anyone considering a used Mercedes!
Barrett does a great job of introducing Mercedes-Benz automobiles to the unfamiliar. He chronologically presents models from 1886 with emphasis on models from 1960 to present. Chapters include pictures, text and performance data for each model. A excellent book for Dodge-lovers. Has a lot of imformation on Dodge cars from Dodge inception (1914) to date. Has identification, rating, appraisal etc. on every Dodge car except, curiously, one. Military Vehicle Restoration in INDIA
A very good effort to save the Military Vehicles from the hands of Scrapdealers. Though in India, there is no Military Vehicle Conservation Groupor Club, I would request Mr. Jim Allen to help me going about forming sucha club. I have in my collection only jeeps, but shortly will be getting aWW II WC-52 (Dodge) Your book is not available in this country. Please giveus addresses where it can be found. So far 4X4 vehicles are seen in Vintageand Classic Car Rallies in the major cities. My Research and restorationwork is focused on WW II Jeeps. I have 23 such jeeps. This great book is set up in a easy to read model by model format. Included are, serial number runs, weights, sizes, pictures, details and facts. This book also cotaints locations to Moline related internet sites. All the sections of this book are usefully for a fledgling enthusiast (like me). This book isa great guide thats helped me enjoy a great hobby. A recommended buy!

Informative, clear and concise... cheap too!
Not being a car-expert and being confronted with the need to purchase a used car, I picked up a copy of Kilmer's book at my local library. I highly recommend this book because it isfluff-free and easy-to-read. It is only about 130 pages, but Kilmer has packed in more information than you would expect. Kilmer (a mechanic) does a good job explaining what to look for and when to avoid a car (as well as his reasons for it), without getting bogged down in technical details.
