Ford 1903-2003
I frequently go to hot rod shows and while I am fairly knowledgible of 1948 and up I wanted a referece for the early years.I enjoy the pictures to compare years and the production counts by year, model and engine etc.

A must for Ford Fans!
This book is a very well organized catalog of all FoMoCo vehicles (except truck based vehicles) from the company's early years to 2002 models.Each model is listed with a good description of options, engine choices, production numbers, historical notes, etc. Overall the book is informative and interesting. Anyone can learn to check THE FIVE FLUIDS!
Thanks Karen! Now I can have something productive to do when I open the hood.Using the book's 5 fluid checklist gives me more choices.I can either do it myself of let the techs at Jiffy Lube do it for me.Either way, I know a lot more than I did before about the 5 fluids and the systems they monitor.

Women are smarter than this
I was disappointed in this book.It has a condescending tone, constantly comparing a car's engine to the kitchen.I found the assumption that all women must have a good understanding of the kitchen at best frustrating,since am no cook, and at worst, degrading.The author implies that malemechanics are hulking brutes, and that they intentionally invent words justto confuse us, like "viscosity" to describe the thickness of oil. The first time I encountered this word was in geology class, whilestudying the variety of lava flows.While the book does contain a gooddeal of useful information for car owners, it is delivered in such a manneras to make any intelligent woman wince, and I'm surprised the author's malecolleagues aren't complaining.

THE best car-buying guide for 95% of us
Unless you're into super-performance or the finer points of car technology, Consumer Reports is your best resource, and probably the only resource you need. On any car that you want to check, Consumer Reports tells you clearly what type of car it is and who it's for, how reliable it has been, how satisfied its customers have been, and how much it holds its value. There's also data and commentary on performance, plus other "specs," definitely enough for 95% of us but not as much as in the "harder-core" car publications. So if you're an extreme car enthusiast, you may be disappointed. But Consumer Reports does an excellent job of including the things that the great majority of people are likely to want to see--and to be able to understand! Much of the material in the "harder-core" publications is Greek to us, right? And in fact, some of the technical material in Consumer Reports is likewise, but not so much that it's intimidating. I think it's just enough to help you stretch your technical knowledge, without turning your brain to mush.

Standard Catalog of Jeep
Beautiful illustrations and a great amount of information. Very enjoyable as long term Jeep owner and enthusiast.

Good but dissapointing.
In addition to the first reviewers comments; this book also omitted the optional Perkins diesel used in the 1960s in CJ-5s and CJ-6s.This engine was used domestically.The F-head is listed as standard in the 5/6, the V6 is listed as optional in the right years but no Perkins is listed.I can almost understand not including export engines, but it is sold as a standard catalog of the Jeeps that were built in Toledo as I understand it.Omitting options that are fairly well known among enthusiasts domestically and overseas keeps me from giving this book a better rating.

The book was good, but it did not cover all the jeeps :0(, I expected this to cover all the jeeps ever built, but it completely missed the 2.4 litre and 2.7 litre diesel CJ5's, CJ7's, & CJ8's that were built in Ohio for export.

Before you ever hit the car lot
Before you ever hit the car lot you need to be prepared. This book is a "gotta have". The other books you need are Consumers Reports books and the NADA price guides. Having the facts and details readily at hand can save you a ton of cash and keep you from ground into hamburger by the car salesmen. This also goes for buying from private parties. Locked into this is using CARFAX or a related on line car history check. If you know the history of the car can save you a lot GRIEF. Don't be rushed into buying anything. Take your time and most of all don't put up with the high pressure sales tactics of car salesmen or pushy owners. ... Read more

A great reference book for trucks.
There are not many reference books on light-duty trucks out there, and this is an excellent one for someone researching a certain vehicle. It fits what I was looking for.

Most definitive Truck reference currently available.
While I found a few minor errors in some of the model information, I have to give this book a good review. All the makers are there including manufacturers that I had never heard of. There are hours of excellentbrowsing of the little guys as well as pages of excellent, and usable,information on the big names. My only major complaint with the book is thatI am not happy with the paperback format. I would like a book that holds upa little better. Otherwise...Excellent reference work. And fun too! ...
