How to be a savvy car shopper- brilliant behind the scenes of how a dealership operates!!
It's a MUST read. All car shoppers as well as anyone facing a purchasing negotiation can benefit from this book. It offers precise tips on how to avoid common pitfalls and get the best deal possible in any car purchase or lease situation. It's also a great read and a facinating tour of how a car dealership operates. It took us forever to decide whether to buy or lease until we read this book!

A God send for a car buying rookie
I have to confess that I am someone who managed to get through the first 20 years or so of adulthood without ever having bought a car.But now that I may have to bite the bullet, I found this book indispensable.I never realized that buying a car can be such a minefield and that there so many things that a prospective buyers needs to be aware of.I thought that this book gave me some very clear principles to use when approaching a show room.I particularly liked the advice about getting financing at your own financial institution instead of falling for the financing deals that the dealerships will try to offer.I also liked the authors point about NOT trying to understand the dealer and his or her perspective - that is probably the first mistake I would have made had I not read this book.The book is written with a very witty style and I found that once I started reading I couldn't put it down and read practically all of it in one sitting!

FINALLY...THE ONE!!!
I have been buying new cars for over 40 years, and finally, after not knowing whether I was paying too much or not, I gothold of this book, and everything changed for me. Just by following the eight commandments, which are easy and straightforward, I'm finding car buying can happen without hassle or mystery, and by using the web sites listed in the appendix, I know where to look up everything I could possibly need. Finally, I feel in control, and so much more confident that I'm not spending too much money. The stories communicate how important the commandments really are. Besides being a wise investment, this book is fun to read.

NADA 2004 BLUEBOOK

Must read for used 911 buyers
I'd suggest this is a must read if your going to be buying a used 911. It gives you everything you need to look for in each model year and a reasonable amount of history on the marque to boot. It could probably go into a little more detail on the faults and how they are rectified/managed so that you have a little more info if your actually buying a model that has a known fault. But a very good book that I would recommend.

Nice pictures but too repetitive
Compared to other 911 Buyer's guides on the shelf this one looks the nicest. The pictures are good but about half way through the happy feeling disappears:
Too dissuasive
I'm glad I started to read this book after I bought my 911, otherwise I would never have bought the car. The book's approach to buying is "If the car has problem x, then thank the seller and walk away". The car I bought had many of the problems which the book mentioned, but my local garage solved most of them in a day and for less than 1000 euros/600 pounds/1000 dollars. I found the book to be an excellent guide to the different models and their differences, but the buying recommendations seem too stringent. ... Read more

A Guide to Models With Comments on Desirability/Value
The Mustang represents the difference between cars designed by financial types from those designed by car types. Just before the Mustang the need for smaller cars became clear. McNamara was in charge of Ford and his answer was the Falcon. I don't know of many people who think the Falcon was the high point of Ford's history. Lee Iacocca took the basic Falcon, put new skins on it and the Mustang was born. We are now in another period where the financial types are in charge, and the blah cars and the red ink coming out of Detroit show it. ==It's been forty years since the Mustang came out in 1964, and even the original ones still look great. In fact you might argue that the originals were the best of any of the Mustangs that followed. ==This book spends over half of its pages describing the various Mustangs that were built. The back of the book talks about restoration. But don't expect details on how to restore a car. This part covers things like maintenance and where to get parts. It is fairly general in nature. very good book
i saw this, and thought since i bought it i can now reveiw it.... i was happy to get this book as a long cub cadet fan.the book contains information that i found vey usefull and intresting. lots of pictures. layed out well,.......... faults....some photos say like it's a 1450 but the photo is of a 1250,but not too many of those, ....would of bent nice if it was 400 pages or more...i want all the info i can get....exllent addition to your colletion if your a cub cadet fan, and it is in hard cover at that.....

Cub & Cub Cadet learning made easy!
This book is a must have for anyone who owns or plans to own a Cub or Cadet. It describes each model from 1947-79 on the Cubs and Lo Boys and 1961-1981 on the Cadet. Among the items covered are implements unique to these machines,implement identification, machine improvements and HP ratings by model,and serial number dates. There are loads of nice photos, some in b&w.

Ken Updike has put together a teriffic history of the International Harvester Company's Farmall Cub and Cub Cadet tractors! An excellent resource, ignore 'sao530'
This book is an excellent resource.Ignore sao530 who doesn't mention anything about the book, but only has issues with the fact that everyone else loved the book.With the information here, I saved over $5,000 on my used 2002 BMW 530i.

I don't know, it just seems strange to me that all "reader reviews" of this book give it 5 stars.Doesn't anyone think this book could be improved, even a little bit??The previous reviews are so spectacular they almost sound like a SALESMAN might have written them ;)Could it be that the author has left all these other reviews of his own book?Naa, that couldn't be, could it?

This $15 book saved me thousands
This is the best book of its kind-bar none. Burke gives very simple, easy-to-follow advice. He not only describes the sales techniques being used on you, but describes how to effectively combat them and give yourself the advantage in negotiating. I combined three of his techniques (waiting for a rainy day, showing up at the end of the month, and taking a test drive and bringing the car back just after the dealership closed) to great effect. I got the price I wanted and I didn't have to negotiate hardly at all because the salesmen just wanted to go home. Burke's book may be the best $15 I ever spent. ... Read more

Pontiac's Longest Running Muscle Car
This is a very good guide to the illustrious Pontiac Firebird. Having owned two versions of the original 1967 Firebird, I found this to be a nostalgic examination of one of my favorite sports cars.
Nice photos but that is about all.
The amount of misinformation in this book is unbelievable.John Gunnell needs to do a LOT more research before printing a book like this.This should be a very nice source of information on the Firebird but I have found so many incorrect statements that it makes everything in this book suspect.
Everything Firebird
The book is probably the most complete coverage of the Firebird line that is available at this time.Several books cover the Firebird up to the 2000 model year, but this is the first to include 2002.This is a first edition, and it does contain some errors; i.e. erroneous engine data, 2 photos were incorrect for the model year they represented, etc.All small details that are easily outweighed by the quality of the photos and text.Excellent job detailing the differences and all the anniversary models.Also contains production numbers, values, etc.Highly recommended to anyone who loves Firebirds.I own a 2000 WS6 Formula and consider this required reading! ... Buy this book before you buy your car
I wish I had read this book before I bought my last car. Fortunately, my brother gave it to me and I read it. This time I saved a bundle. I also used Edmunds website to find out what I should pay for my car. It was a lot better than the other sites I've used in the past.

Good Overview
Great book to get an overview of particular corvette models - and what should be on each car.Also points out potenetial liabilities with each model year.Appendix at end of book is very useful to determine originality of parts/car - as well as a list of available options. Does not have a pricing guide, but does include a price list for common replacement parts.I would recommend this along with a pricing guide to help search for the perfect vette!
