Buy the book, and you'll end up buying the car
I read the book since I had interest in a sports car.As soon as I put it down, I had the Viper Fever.I bought one the next day.Great book with some good background and pictures.

it's dang good the venom gos 0-60 in 2.4 sec and 0-100 in 5.5sec and 0-100-0 in 9.4 sec that is bad i think how about you.

Very Helpful
I am constantly dabbling in the idea of getting myself a sporty car that I can have some fun with but like most of us, I don't happen to have a large disposable income to blow on the hot new Ferrari 575. That is why this book is most fabulous for even the most fund-deficient of car enthusiasts that just want to have a pedal stomping, gear shifting good time. Very Helpful

This is a MUST read before you buy your next RV.
It provides comprehensive condensed consumer information on hundreds of RV's, including most individual models. This is the closest thing to an RV Consumer Report.I thought I had decided on the RV I was going to buyuntil I checked it in the Rating Book and found that it was rated low indurability and that highway control and road safety were rated below 25%. for idiots only
This is a good book if you have an extremely low IQ and need chapters and chapters on how to select which car model you want to buy.If that is your biggest problem when it comes to buying a car, then you are either very rich or very stupid.There are much better books around on how to deal with dealers, getting the most for your used car, not getting screwed on a lease, etc.The only adivce this book had on bargaining with dealers was "if you're not comfortabe with what's going on in the dealership, walk out."Sorry, but there's a lot more to negotiating than that.

Fine and dandy folks.
It was difficult finding things and confusing but overall it was a fine and dandy book.

Recomend the book but beware:

a must have for any owner
I am glad to have this book in my collection. Very detailed year by year. Nice factory photos. Much better than the firebird red book. Lists options available, and most of the special editions. Even if you think you know it all, You will learn something you did not know about these cars...

Excellent !! ....Just one problem
As all "Illustrated Buyer Guides" so is this one a top notch resource for the numbers and detail guy or gal. One problem is that the version is getting outdated. Covers only up to the 1998 production year. Now that the f-body died, why not update it one more time for all enthusiasts. otherwise great book !!! ... Read more

Plenty of history, not enough buyer's guide
This is the 7th book in the Illustrated Buyer's Guide series I have purchased.While this book has a great deal of history and plenty of personal anecdotes by the author, it is lacking in technical detail and buying suggestions.Other buyer's guides have much more information about details like powertrains, paint codes, etc.They also cover issues which buyers should be aware of, including likely rust spots, how to spot rare option combinations which have been faked and so forth.The technical details of the various model years of trucks in this book is spotty at best.Admittedly, this book is trying to cover almost 100 years worth of vehicles and there's only so much room to fit everything in.Nevertheless, this is more of an "Illustrated History" than an "Illustrated Buyer's Guide".And as a history book, with interesting information and a number of great pictures, this book will stay on my shelves.But I will continue to look for a better buyer's guide. ... The best gift I've ever bought
My boyfriend is "THE" epitome of a Chevy guy.He owns a 97 Camaro, so I thought a great gift would be a book like this, because he's always spouting off facts about what year, which options, and searching the Internet for a way to decipher his VIN code.If you are a Camaro nut (or date one), this is the book for you.He particularly likes looking at the production numbers tied to each option, so you can know how rare a particular car actually is (or isn't).The pictures help me out, because when I see one I'm more likely to get close to the right year. :)Lots of neat facts in this book.

A little brief but good
The book has already helped me with identifying my car and has a lot of info., but it does not have all of the RPO codes and some of the production #'s don't seem to match. A little more detail would have been nice. It's vague enough to scare me to trust it completely, but Antonick gives a warning about that too. I'm happy overall with the book and recommend it to camaro owners. It's not all of the answers, but good.

A great source of information.
This book is full of great facts and information for decoding your Camaro's VIN and options. It even goes so far as to list prices for the listed options. I felt that the downfall of this book was the lack ofproduction run numbers for each model. The Firebird Red Book contains thisinformation, so I feel this book should also. A good book about the GTO
I like this book, because it tells clearly the history of the GTO, and it's helpful to know the various versions of the car. The main quality of the book is the synthesis, because the author doesn't put in the text an excessive number of facts; he writes only the essential informations to know the car, like the aestetic characteristics, the displacement of the engines, the basic characteristics of the fuel systems and the speed gears, the colours, the codes for the identification and other historical informations. The text is accompanied by a lot of photographs in black and white, that represents the cars and their passenger compartments and engines. Very Helpful

A word in praise of Langworths
I do not own, nor have I read this book. Nor do I know anything whatsoever about Buicks, or the procurement thereof. From the picture on the cover, and the fact that the title has the word "car" in it, I assume that a Buick is some kind of automobile.
Rated 3 stars because 3 is in the middle and I'm the author
Hell hath no fury like a buff whose favorite model is left out! Name Withheld should know that the NET bhp for the 1972 Buick 455 was 250, not 455 or 365, etc., because the industry standard went to net bhp in 1972. Since I was off by only 25 net horsepower I will submit to a private but not a public flogging. Book is better on 1940s and 1950s Buicks than that production-line stuff. And by the way, the word you want is "drivel" not "dribble."

I gave it one star because I couldn't rate it any lower.
Its very rare to find a book about a subject you love that is this bad.Mr. Langworth the author of this book should be publicly flogged.To begin with the recommendations in this book are horribly dated.The authorrated Buick Boattails a better investment that 60 era GS's.Furthermorethe book didn't even mention the GSX. Mr. Langworth also stated that a 1972Buick 455 produced 225 horses.If you love Buicks do not even thinkabout this book.I can only apologize to mother nature that trees actuallyhad to die to keep this dribble in print ...
