***A Definite Must Read***
A swift, enlightening and very enjoyable read for anyone who cherishes free speech by a brilliant author with a quick wit and amazing knowledge and insight.John Ziegler is arguably one of the top lightening bolts in talk radio today.His show is a must-listen and his book is a must read.Highly recommended. Will be watching for his next one!

One of the most important books of our times
THE DEATH OF FREE SPEECH: HOW OUR BROKEN NATIONAL DIALOGUE HAS KILLED THE TRUTH AND DIVIDED AMERICA comes from a radio talk-show host and TV commentator who considers how the news media has created biased, illogical rules for determining the framework of free speech itself. This is no individual's opinion: Ziegler uses high-profile incidents from modern media reporting to confront conventional wisdom and adds his own experience of being fired numerous times for his on-air comments. It's his background in the industry which allows a particularly insightful seasoned examination an outside researcher couldn't achieve, making DEATH OF FREE SPEECH one of the most important books of our times.
Luckily I didnt pay for my copy
John Ziegler is a political commentator who is currently based in Southern California - and if anything, he is consistent. His book is as poor as his radio show - both reflect his poor debating skills and disorganized persona. Through most of the book Ziegler is confused, is simly wrong on several counts. I have no doubt that he will soon be fired from his job as KFI if he keeps treating his guests poorly.

I had trouble putting it down.
This is an absolutely fascinating book. The material in it is interesting, detailed and very well written. She uses legal cases as a starting point to discuss women's civic obligations.It becomes very clearthat people's obligations have an enormous effect on their rights and theroles they are expected to play in society.The individual cases help keepthings grounded in people's lives and not just legal theories.There is anamazing amount of information that I never knew which really helped meunderstand how things were and how they changed. I have read a lot of women's and Constitutional history, and still my jaw literally dropped open several times while reading this book. Her use of real scenarios made the book readable and enjoyable. People have saidlately that we are focused too much on our rights and not ourresponsibilities; it's scary to see that whether women must bear theresponsibilities of citizenship is still in many ways an open question.

Readable, well documented and informative
I'm definately interested in reading and understanding more about the situation women face today. This book was an incredibly informative education on the evolution of debate about what exactly is a woman's placein society. Terrible book, full of bias and gross errors
The online portion of this book actually urges students to join a political advocacy organization, Common Cause. While I have nothing against that particular organization, I do have a problem with the authors/publishers urging our kids to join it as part of a required textbook for courses taught in a public universities.
a wonderful introduction
This book is amazing. I've read all but the last 3 or so chapters, which appear to be the most interesting. Fiorina et al manage to explain pretty much everything from madison to civil liberties to the constitution to important supreme court decisions.If you ever thought American history was boring, then you haven't read this book.

excellent textbook
