must have for the car enthusiast
i ordered this book after reading about it in road and track and its a great addition to any car enthusiasts' library.the photography is stunningly beautiful as is each of the cars in the collection (minus a few at the end).The history and descriptions of the cars are great as well but mostly I got the book to drool over the the pictures.the '54 Ferrari 375 Plus and '58 250 Testa Rossa are probably my favorites, along with the more recent but just as classic McLaren F1.

Very Nice
While I would like to see more real pics, the drawings do a fine job of identifying the various pumps.Think the glossary could be expanded to include more terms. All in all, I am glad to have the book in my library.

An Ilustrated Guide to Gas Pumps
We were very disappointed with the book.We were hoping it would have pictures of old gas pumps and how they should be painted.All it shows is old gas pumps but most are black and white and seem to be drawings instead of actual pictures.

Ferrari Testarossa.
Fantastic book! Excellent reference for any FERRARI owner or enthusiast!

The book has a lot of good color pictures. It is short on text. It is a very good value. Just don't expect to learn too much about the technical aspects of the car.

Excellent quality photos of the last V-12 powered Ferraris.
This book offers 128 color pages of excellent up close pictures of the Ferrari Testarossa, and follows it from the design concepts to the chasis conception.It covers extensive specs and has many under/over/above shots of this classic Italian roadster.One page in particular shows a Testarossa up on a hoist illustrating the rear suspension, and one can clearly see that this particular Stallion has an oil leak!This just goes as testiment to the undoctored realism that this book offers.Don't let the price fool you, this one is great for the coffee table of a true "Ferrarimi" ... Great reference, great photos
This book is advertised to show and describe all major wheeled and tracked tactical vehicles used by US Forces from WWII through Desert Storm; and it succesfully does just that.Most of the photos are period images, with only a few of restored or museum vehicles. Values are given for the bulk of these vehicles, however in some cases there is a notation that too few of a given vehicle exist on the collector circuit to establish a value. Most of these omitted values tend to be for newer, heavy tracked vehicles such as the Bradley and the Abrams, values are shown for all the common Jeeps, trucks and motorcycles, as well as most tracked vehicles.I noticed a few typos, but the books only real shortcoming is the lack of an index.An added bonus is the inclusion of two bonus chapters, one describing the various machine gun mounts used on Jeeps and trucks and the other describing the various paint and marking schemes used by the US Army from WWII to present. It is a profound improvement over the previous edition.

OKbut could be much better
Similar in scope and thoroughness to most Krause books, The Standard Catalog of US Military Vehicles represents a fairly lengthy but hasty assemblage of US-wheeled, motorcycle, and track-laying vehicles. It is an interesting and unique collection of pictures, data, and a few stories but it falls far short of becoming an indispensable resource. Many listings lack value and rarity information with no satisfactory explanation for these omissions. The book also suffers from a lack of consistent production data and is missing an index and bibliography. The most frustrating omission is that of the military jargon and nicknames that are essential in discussing and describing these vehicles. Weak editing is evidenced by an inaccurate table of contents. The detailed information on military trailers is something most readers will not find valuable or interesting. ... Read more

Five star pictures in a three star frame
Have autos looked any better than Michael Furman's stunning photos, I doubt it. These vehicles look just perfect with liquid looking bodywork and perfect chrome, in fact they probably look better than ones just off the assembly line.This is fine art photography and if you wonder how the 'Furman look' is achieved there is a clue on his website.Click on BIO and you'll see a shot of his studio with an amazing looking light panel hovering over what looks like a very small car.It seems to me that his controlled lighting source is the key and when digital images are printed on quality paper with a 200dpi screen you'll see the perfect picture as on these pages.
Mike Does It Again!!
This book is another loving tribute to those classic autos that can send shivers up your spine sometimes, they're so cool. I simply cannot see how Mike's photography can be improved upon in any way, shape or form. Buy this; you won't regreat it, promise.
