4-0 out of 5 stars Correct Oak Harbor History
This book falsely states that "Oak Harbor was founded in 1894 by Dutch emmigrants from Holland"This is incorect info.Oak Harbor was founded in 1851 by three men who took out Donation land claims, they were Ulrich Freund a Swiss man, Martin Taftson, a Norweigian and C. Sumner, a Yankee..They were followed by several Irish Pioneers, such as Capt. Edward Barrington, Frank McCrohan, Thomas Nunan, Maurice O'Leary, Samual and Thomas Maylor and L.P. Byrne. As well as numerous other Pioneers who were here in Oak Harbor where I live, about 40 years before any Dutch arrived..Oak Harbor is often reported as a "Dutch town" when this is not true history at all. These Irishmen and their families established the first stores, businesses, schools, and churches in Oak Harbor. This was started in the 1850's continuing through the 1890's..The Dutch who arrived in 1894 came from the midwest to farm, hearing about the fine farm land offerred on Whidbey Island.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful pictures - but do not expect a travel guide
We have the "Bay Area Backroads" book, which we use for day trips, and so we bought "Backroads of Minnesota", hoping it would help us make our trip to Minnesota more unique and out of the beaten path.
3-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful photos but Low on Tips
When I purchased "Backroads of Minnesota," I was under the impression that it would have detailed information on where to venture for hidden treasures in terms of getting away from the big city. Well, what I got instead was a beautiful "picture" book chocked full of wonderful photography of various areas in Minnesota. So, I was disappointed and delighted at the same time. It's not what I was hoping for, but it compliments my library quite nicely.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One great book
I have always had a great interest in WWII bombers and fighters. In addition to this my, step-uncle was a 1st Lt. Co-pilot on a B-17 stationed in Deenethorpe, England and flew 30 missions between 6/44 & 11/44 in the 615th B.S. of the 401stBG (H). I purchased this book after reading the good reviews it had.I was very impressed with the book. There are B&W pictures of nose art on B-17's, B-24's, B-29's, B-26's, B-25's, A-26's, P-51's, C-47's, C-87's, P-38's, P-47's, P-61's.There are also some color pictures and also there are some pictures of the back of a few flight jackets. The pictures are 99% bombers. This is a picture book with info below the pictures if available. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars More of a picture book
This book has a lot of photos of beautiful Mustangs. If you are looking for a book to see some restored Mustangs, than this is the book for you. However,I thought it would be more of a "how to" book. The title is somewhat deceiving, it's not really a guide to restoring your car.

5-0 out of 5 stars The must have book on restoring 1964 1/2-1966 Mustangs
Its about time that these "Original" series book included Ford Mustangs. What a gem of a book! Its a whole book of colour photos throughout showing details on the 1964 1/2-65-66 model Mustangs and even Shelby Mustangs too. This is an amazing reference book for owners and enthusiasts of Ford Mustangs.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is THE Book to have as your Reference Guide!!
I've been a fan of the Mustang since I owned my first '65 Fastback in late 1968. Have been interested in restoring them since the mid '90's and have been saving articles and buying books on how to restore them for years. The problem is, no one book can cover everything............, but this book has come the closest to hitting on more aspects of the origianlity of the early '65's through '66 Mustangs and even some info. on the Shelby's. Great photographs for reference!! A must have for every Mustang enthusiast!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Ambitious project, realistic plan in the back
The book takes you through the author's project to upgrade his brand-new RV.He goes the expensive route, starting with special order equipment, then adding a super charger, replacing the exhaust system, getting a custom engine control chip made, and doing dyno testing at many stages of the project. It's well documented and clearly written.5-0 out of 5 stars Unusually interesting, of good quality, gives good advice.
KPFK radio in Los Angeles praised "Cousin Eddy" as "unusually interesting, of good quality, well done, has good illustrations, and gives good advice" on its "The CarShow/LA" program Saturday, July 17, 1999.I listen to the show everyweek, and couldn't agree more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book.
I loved this book. After taking some of Lindberg's tips, my motorhome went 7.2 mpg to 11.9 mpg. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it is saving me a ton of money this summer.Hope he writes another! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book on building a project hot rod/project car.
One of the things I needed in a book was to know what order(sequence)do you build your rod/custom in.Thats when I discovered this book. This book tells you what you need to know about planning your project, determine what you are going to use the car for(eg:show car/weekender/daily driven),car selection, component selection, purchase of vehicle, build up tips, when to install each item, electrical wiring, painting and so much more. This book sets it out with comprehensive advice from start to finish, even before you think about buying a car. There is a section on how to perform a top chop thats photographed in black & white photos with plenty of information. This book will help you decide what you want first then how to build it and save money too.
1-0 out of 5 stars not a good book
This book does not show hot to build a hot rod, just differnt types. no real techincal data.pass on this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Really great book
I'm a complete novice to the world of hot rodding, and my actualinterest is building electric cars. What makes this book so great in my opinion is that the author starts at the beginning and challenges you to pin down what you really want to build and challenges you to plan it out a little better. The reality check of a price list for all the components of a hot rod is really great. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Adler's Duesenberg
Dennis Adler's Duesenberg follows his basic formula for a book, a very competent photo album with little or nothing in the way of historical insight. He regurgitates information found in other sources and often repeats erroneous information. He performs no primary research nor provides information to make this book an important addition to an automotive library.

5-0 out of 5 stars The glory days
While a number of books have been done on this most classic of all American cars, this is surely the best. Adler does fine photographic work as is abundantly evident here, and the combination of wonderful color photos and a solid text provides a good record of the Duesenberg output, from the little-remembered Model A of the early 1920s to the quintessential Model J (and later SJ) of 1929 to 1937 when the whole firm was shut down as part of the wrapping up of E.L. Cord's auto empire. While they would probably be bears to drive compared to the power-everything we have these days, no current car has the cachet of these huge and heavy but lovingly designed and built motorcars. And they could move---over 100 mph with motors seemingly offering too little horsepower. The handsome coach work pictured on these pages (none of it, of course, the product of the Indanapolis-based Duesenberg factory which provided only the chasis---and that for about $8,000 pre-Depression dollars) really underlines what bygone days these are. In all, a handsome record of a glorious car . . .

4-0 out of 5 stars A nice book, but....
Quite a heavy and cumbersome (due to its shape) book to read whilst sitting in an armchair. Some superb photos, lots of info on Fred & Augie, EL Cord and the personalities involved, the coachbuilders, etc. But nowhere does it tell us aspiring Duesy owners what they're like to drive, is the gearbox really a pig, are the controls light, and how quick they are, etc. Or does nobody actually dare to drive them these days ? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An in-depth review of the American wood-bodied car
Recently it seems that a new woodie book crops up every year or so. They all are of interest to the woodie enthusiast, but Rich Bloechl's latest work, Woodies & Wagons - A Pictorial History, sets itself apart as an in-depth review of the American wood-bodied car. Hundreds of photos reveal the woodie in its original form - from its 19th century origins through the fifties, when the last cars with structural wood bodies were produced.Read more
