5-0 out of 5 stars Remembered what we read....
My sister and I read this book and were not only impressed with McSherry's clean and highly readable writing style but her detective work and synthesis of so many newly released files allows the reader to absorb and remember so much of this truly astonishing Condor story. We were both surprised at how much we were able to remember when talking to each other on the phone about the 6 Condor countries and their strange brutal training from the C.I.A. and ex-Nazis. The book arcs back to World War II and then brings the reader to the 1970s and Condor. Chapter 2 and 3 are really stunning.

5-0 out of 5 stars State Terror in the Americas
This well-written book meticulously documents the development and operation of an appalling transnational organization of state terror to persecute leftists and other real or imagained opponents of the South American military regimes during the 1970's. Patrice McSherry's research is rigorously documented and lays bare the central role the United States played in supporting Operation Condor and nurturing the Latin American "national security state." This book will be very useful for any reader interested in Latin American politics and society and in United States relations with the rest of the Americas.I highly recommend "Predatory States."

5-0 out of 5 stars when history repeats itself...
Among the reason why I liked "Predatory States: Operation Condor and Covert War in Latin America" by J. Patrice McSherry is the fact that she kept relevant the events that took place in Lating America more than 20 year ago by comparing them to current ones like the just "revealed brutal methods and secret operations" (xxi) used by the United States to fight terrorism worldwide.

5-0 out of 5 stars Momma Miss America
"Whistleblower" Russell Bowen pushes to unlock America's encrypted history with an expose' of The Bush Family & it's mafia-esque treason, murder, greed,& cover-up. He'll take you on a journey & you'll cross over a David Lynchian landscape of subterfuge ,arriving at a place where the love of a buck is everything . Is it conspiracy or coincidence that the very same day President Reagan was nearly assassinated,30-03-81,would-be-assassin John Hinckley's older brother ,Scott, had a dinner date with an old friend of the family; Neil Bush, son of George Snr.?? And is it conspiracy or coincidence that the Bushes & the Hinckleys went way back,to Texas of the 1960's,where both George Bush, Snr. & John Hinckley, Snr. had amassed personal fortunes in the booming oil industry?
1-0 out of 5 stars So bad, so paranoid, so illogical.
Of all the irrational political books on the market, this ranks among the worst. It's worse than Michael Moore as far as innacuracy and lack of evidence of mental strength. It would seem that Bowen has just enough functioning neural connection to write, gather random unverified stories and maintain a paranoid outlook, beyond that I guess he must at least have a functioning brain stem. Nearly everything in this book can (or has been) easily refuted. Nothing more than a middle school students efforts at critical thinking can refute his claims. The fact that idiots are out there buying this and believing it is both scary and disappointing. Nothing new I guess.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Compelling Story
The events that led to the conviction of the Pan Am 103 assasins would be dismissed as improbable were they not true. This reads like a fast paced novel, and has all the momentum of a film while remaining focused on the facts of the investigation.Marquise comes through as a modest man with an immense capacity for work, inspired by the families of the victims and determined to find justice. What justice was relaized was his achievement. Highly recommended. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars worth reading, but...
I had the hardest time deciding whether or not to read this book based on the various Amazon reviews. While I love a good conspiracy theory or two, I try to avoid books either written by conspiracy fanatics who have no objectivity, or conspiracy comics who treat the subject from a distance and use it to poke fun. As you can imagine, it's tough to find middle ground.
4-0 out of 5 stars Are you kidding????
It is difficult to determine if one likes this book or not. It depends on if the reader is taking it too seriously or if they can see the dry humor underlying every story. The practiced skeptic will recognize many of the names mentioned and the credibility concerns attached. At the same time, it is conceivable that intelligent people in the military and elsewhere have bought in to the aledged learning of these individuals. After all, why would one turn down the chance at making a few extra tax dollars from secret coffers that cannot be traced to a scapegoat de-bleated or otherwise (baaaad pun intended). It is at least an enjoyable ride through the bizarre world of bloated government where the right hand can see over the porkbelly what the left hand is doing. In the end, you wonder if the asylum inmates are running the asylum or just giving the mad doctors who work there new ideas for twisted uses - who can know?Just do not make the mistake of taking it too seriously.

3-0 out of 5 stars Can this be for real?
This book is a chronicle of what happened when the Army tried to "think outside the box", and how truly wierd and bizzare that process got.It tells the story of generals who tried to walk through walls, an ex-officer who studied "New-Age" movements in California, soldiers who sat in a bunker and tried to psychically track Manuel Noriega, interrogators who used Barney the Dinosuar music to break thier subjects, and, as the title states, men who tried kill goats by staring at them.It is somewhat far-out but believable, and written in a fast-moving narrative that almost, but not quite, brings together all the aspects of this unusual process. The work seems well researched, but relies primarily on sources that don't always seem 100% reliable. It is a fun, well written story that will either surprise you or confirm your view of military intelligence. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Death of a Great Man
Albino Luciani was elected Pope and chose to be Pope John Paul the First. Not only becoming the first double name in the history, but also appended the first to it. He was known as the "Smiling Pope" and though his reign was the second shortest in history, only 33 days, he was loved the world over. This wonderful Pastor would have taken the Church back to its Gospel roots where it belongs. He was truly a Man of God. And you could see from his 33 days as Pope that he would have been the greatest Pope ever in the eyes the world.
4-0 out of 5 stars a comparison of similar books
"In God's Name" gets the prize as the most professionally written book about the mysterious death of John Paul I.Its limitation is that it restricts its investigation to the Great Vatican Bank Scandal - yet, there is much more than just that. Although a work of fiction, Yallop does such a riveting job of telling his tale that one is left with the convinction that everything he has to say actually happened - the mark of a great writer. If one wants the facts about the Great Vatican Bank Scandal turn to "Pontiff'If one wants the most comprehensive published record of all of the known facts surrounding the mysterious death of this good man turn to "Murder in the Vatican" by Lucien Gregoire. The latter is also the only existing biography of this Pope - of his struggles as an impoverished child - as a revolutionary priestas an outspoken bishop - and as a compassionate cardinal. It is written by a man who spent much time with this Pope.If one wants the Vatican's opinion of what happened, John Cornwell's "A Thief in the Night" is the obvious choice. Commissioned by the Vatican it is written by a world-reknown journalist.Regardless, don't pass up "In God's Name." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. John Coleman books
More than anything---Americans suffer from a lack of knowledge about what's going on in our world. If you think you are aware by watching from a US news media standpoint, you'd better think again! There is no hope of catching up without some very basic books. These include all of Dr. John Coleman's series:One World Order, Committee of 300, Diplomacy by Deception and What you need to know about the Constitution. He lays the best foundation to begin your quest for information. Most of the popular writers and seekers of truth have taken no small share of developments originally presented by Coleman. But here is the original deal. You don't need to accept substitutes.1-0 out of 5 stars "POORSPIRITUALKNOWLEDGEBYTHEAUTHOR"
In John Coleman`s book The Committee of 300, his publisher has book advertisements for someoccultic topics; the worst being Nostradamus. Nostradamus constantly used astrology,as verified in his book preface in"The Centuries". 4-0 out of 5 stars More food for thought
Personally, I prefer to follow the subject of U.F.O.'s, but now and again I find an interesting sidetrack... HAARP; The Ultimate Weapon of the onspiracy is one of those interesting side tracks. Jerry E. Smith has shown, once again, that the government can spew out the lies, and almost everyone that hears them will acccept them as gospel.... It's time to open not your eyes, but your minds...this book may help you do just that!

4-0 out of 5 stars H.A.A.R.P.
Jerry E. Smith presents us first with the facts and details of H.A.A.R.P installation in Alaska. He explains the governments intended purpose and then he starts offering what he believes H.A.A.R.P is and why it is there.Smith tells that it's a little scientific research toy which has the ability to affect weather, wipe out the user's enemies (real or fancied), and if the evidence is true, even control our minds. Some feel that this project is sponsored by a New World Order and this will solve all earth problems of war and enemies.I rather liked this book because it offers you another conspiracy that some government or governments are pondering to take action against each other.Great book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand and quite instructive
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is without a doubt the most notorious and infamous anti-Semitic text ever written. Originally a piece written as a response to Napoleon III, it was later re-written and given a new title by the Russians, who used it in their anti-Semitic propaganda. Adolf Hitler too used it, mentioned it in his speeches, and talked about it in Mein Kampf, and even though the falsification has been exposed repeatedly it's still being used today, by among others dubious New Age prophets.
3-0 out of 5 stars An important topic buta static presentation
Eisner is justly remembered as a graphic innovator and the topic here; portraying the true origins of this contemptible "document" is admirable, so why didn't this work better? The basic problem is that the history of the protocols does not lend itself to creativity in presentation. Like a textbook THE PLOT serves an important purpose and Eisner does his best to add some drama to the basic tale of how a petty group of Russian bureaucrats decided to create this foul work to support their political agenda and from there groups all over the world have used it to foster hatred; but the material is too dry to support anything but the facts. Eisner gives it a try but basically the book is a series of talking heads, and no matter what approach Eisner uses it never really becomes anything more than that. It just doesn't make for an exciting read in this medium. Despite my complaints it is my hope that like Nast's cartoons helped bring down Tammany Hall, THE PLOT too will serve its purpose and enlighten people to the lies behind the protocols of Zion.

4-0 out of 5 stars The lie that wouldn't die.
Will Eisner was one of the greatest story tellers in the history of comics, and is credited with creating the graphic novel. This book was his last finished work.It is the story of "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", an anti-Jewish tract that purports to tell of the Jews' plot to take over the world. The whole thing was a hoax, but that didn't stop anti-Semites from using it to justify discriminating against Jews.Eisner does an effective job of showing, through words and pictures, how this dangerous document influenced (and continues to influence) the world negatively. ... Editorial Review

As World War II reached its climax, the U.S. push to create an atomic bomb spawned an industry the size of General Motors almost overnight. But a little-understood human dilemma quickly arose: How was all the radiation involved in building and testing the bomb going to affect the countless researchers, soldiers, and civilians exposed to it? Government scientists scrambled to find out, fearing cancer outbreaks and worse, but in their urgency conducted classified experiments that bordered on the horrific: MIT researchers fed radioactive oatmeal to residents of a state boys' school outside Boston; prisoners in Washington and Oregon were subjected to crippling blasts of direct radiation; and patients with terminal illnesses (or so it was hoped) were secretly injected with large doses of plutonium--survivors were surreptitiously monitored for years afterward.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Skeletons in the closet
This book is scary to say the least. It is well researched and details what is a practice probably still going on today in experiements we do not know about. I was particularly troubled by the Fernald school, where unwanted kids were befriended by MIT researchers who took them on trips and gave them presents in return for the kids drinking radioactive milkshakes. Was some of this done to generate data for use in bringing the first commercial microwave to market by Raytheon?4-0 out of 5 stars Plutonium Files (not x-files)

5-0 out of 5 stars Pay no attention to the bad reviews
This review is based on the last edition "The 70 Greatest Conspiracies of All Time," as I have yet to read the new edition. The one star reviewers clearly don't get it or the authors' sense of humor. It is fairly well researched, with every chapter having its own bibliography that lists "Major Sources" used. But, in all honesty, criticizing this book for a lack of research is like criticizing Wes Anderson's movies for not being realistic; you're missing the point entirely if you make such claims. (Anderson wrote and directed Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and The Life Aquatic, four of the funniest movies you'll ever see.)
1-0 out of 5 stars No credibility, insufficient supporting
I found this book atrocious. It consists of a few pages (<10) per alleged conspiracy, most of which is vague, unverified, unfulfilling and, at best, slightly informative. Each section is a repackaging of prior speculations, which the authors do not investigate, and to which they add little insight.
5-0 out of 5 stars Should be called the Bible of Conspiracy Theories...
I am very pleased with this collection of conspiracy theories. From LSD experiments on US soldiers, to stolen software that tracks your latest Walmart purchase, and bloodless suicides this book tackles them all with intelligence and wit. I would recommend it to all who feel that something is amiss in the top levels of government and the mass media. Be you liberal or conservative; lines of freedom are being crossed, and we have been and are being fed sugar coated half truths or flat out lies by the ones we elect to protect us. 1-0 out of 5 stars Only Promises What It Delivers
In this book, Byron York only promises to present the evidence of a vast Left-Wing conspiracy - and that is all he presents. The discussion here is limited to what left-leaning money has done. Primarily, this amounts to a muckraking castigation of George Soros for pointing out the fascistic tendencies inherent in Bush Administration policies and a denigration of Soros' concerns that the US is now, currently, moving in the same direction as NAZI Germany in the period between the World Wars.

Occult Ether Physics is the best physics book I have ever read. The author explains the original ether theories that originated in the 1880s very clearly. And the author explains how manipulating the ether could be used to propel a spaceship. This book is a paradyne shift back to the way scientists used to think about physics before relativity came along.I think all physics students should read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars this guy rocks
You should probably (well ok..definitely) read his other title first before this one.If your concerned about your personal health and science that is more immediately useful even to an individual ya gotta czech out The Scientific Conquest of Death, The Edge Effect, and Immortalist Manifesto -- I must agree free energy although somewhat 'boring' is maybe the onepolitical issue that could get the government back in the hands of the people the way our forefathers intended (well at least washington and paine)...it is not to be underestimated. Anyone who has come close to marketing free energy has had very uncool things happen to them =o) ...I didn't see it untill years later upon endless studying but free energy is one of the most important subjects for humanity--it filters into solving SO many seemingly unrelated problems. This isn't about pointing the finger but getting a general education in the way of REAL science even if its basic its better than 20 years of 'pop physics' as the author would say.Do read the guys titles but I would check out the above pieces first reguarding your physiological health......I can't speak from experience on free energy but I can on the fact that even if you think your healthy you're not ..the good news is you can learn how to get there and the bodily systems that need to be attended to in order to achieve perfect health ..frequently misdiagnosed as 'superman syndrome' ;)

If you are a sucker for this kind of expose, you should note that, with the substitution of names and incidents, the general outlines of this volume apply equally to Clinton's successors in office.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Biting, Accurate --Well, Mostly Accurate
There shouldn't be anyone left to lie to, but somehow the public has a short term memory when it comes to the Clintons. This book should be required reading for anyone voting in the upcoming presidential primaries. If anyone still trusts Hillary, or thinks she has a soul.Read this.If you read it and still think so, reread. There is one thing, and one thing only, that either Clinton feels passionately about, and that is their political survival.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but needs updating
This book is great for browsing through occasionally - would probably be good bathroom reading - as long as you don't take it too seriously. The "conspiracies" range from satirical to loopy to almost believable. My favorite is the unbelievably convoluted "plot" surrounding the death of Princess Diana. Since I've just finished another book about conspiracy theories, I was disappointed not to find anything on the "reptilian" aliens, which seem to be quite popular on the late-night fringe - or at least they were a few years ago when I worked the third shift across from an Art Bell fan.
4-0 out of 5 stars The book THEY don't want you to read
`Everything is Under Control' is an A to Z listing of hundreds of conspiracy theories and cover-ups that pervade the minds of paranoids. The main issue I had with the book is how quickly the author cruises through topics. Some items are touched on so lightly that I'm not even sure what Mr. Wilson is talking about. It's disappointing not because the subject matter is boring but because it's so interesting that the short descriptions left me wanting more.
1-0 out of 5 stars Unreadable
This book is lousy. There is no depth to any theory portrayed and it is organized as an encyclopedia.

4-0 out of 5 stars The secret history of the French Revolution
It has been several years since I read an earlier paperback edition of this classic and my copy is in storage, so this from memory. Robison, a Scottish professor, wrote to warn Britain and other kingdoms that the forces which toppled the French monarchy and started The Terror were still active. He traced the story of the 1776 founding of the Illuminati by Adam Weishaupt a professor at Ingolstadt and the suppression of the order by the royal and church authorities of Bavaria in 1785. The Illuminists went underground all over Europe and used existing Masonic lodges or set up their own as a cover for their activities. In Paris, the Duc d'Orleans headed the Illuminist front called the Grand Orient Lodge, his base to conspire against the ruling House of Bourbon. The English and Scottish lodges were generally apolitical amd many worked actively to keep out Illuminists as insincere applicants, but Robison maintained that some continental lodges remained hotbeds of revolutionary plotting, and therefore dangerous, at the time he wrote. ...
