4-0 out of 5 stars Don't disregard because of your prejudices
A fascinating read. While not a historian myself, I do have a problem with critics here who find alliances between North and South brewing a conspiracy to be "unbelievable" because the 2 sides would ever agree on anything.
2-0 out of 5 stars Hard to believe.
This book is hard to believe. There are some elemental truths in this book, like the black market trade in cotton, which some in the government sanctioned.Other things, like the two groups of fugitives going across the Potomic and the attack on Seward supposedly by his eldest is just unbelieveable. The authors roll out some sketchy facts, but not sufficient proof that an actual conspiracy took place. The alleged conspiracy itself is kind of hard to believe. The authors would have us believe that greedy businessmen, along with radical Republicans and Southern government officials combined to rid the government of Abraham Lincoln.I am not sure you could get all those people in the same room, lest agree.
3-0 out of 5 stars Mixed thoughts...
I have mixed thoughts on this book as it does bring to light the possibility of an early war conspiracy to assassinate Lincoln.I did like how Guttridge brought ideas to the table about how the food for cotton program started, but a lot of this book is full of "could be" situations.I found it a bit confusing as to how Booth came involved with the early war plot or how he came into the fold with the profiteers and their connection.I did like reading about the chase to find Booth at the end of the book and how questions arised from whether or not Booth was actually captured.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greed and revenge
A. Craig Copetas' book gives us a rare insight in the well curtained offices of big metal traders. His story centres on Marc Rich and his companion Pincus Green, who left in disgust their employer Philipp Brothers, at that moment a unit of Engelhard MC, because of the 'meagre' bonuses they received at the end of the year. These bonuses were in fact only a fraction of the revenues the two traders generated for the company.4-0 out of 5 stars sounds somewhat biased
The book was absolutely intrigueing and compelling just to learn about the inside workings of the metals and oil business.Needless to say, I worked at this company for a short period of time before the ____ hit the fan.I did not see any of the implied [prostituting] of secretaries or traders prostituting themselves for a deal. The author has gathered much information on the sequence of events, but found that he was presenting this story, not as a reporter, but a snotty bitter little man.Marc, did not have shifty eyes, and to say at 6ft, his presence was that of a tall and looming personality, makes me believe that this author is of short stature. There are many good and charitable things this man and his company have catered to, but not once did i see anything listed in this book. The people I worked for and with at this company, were a group of the nicest and most professional people I have worked for.I have since to find a company that performed in such a refined and distinguished manner. They werent the [type of people] Copetas has implied them to be.My being a secretary there, I took quite offense to the [prostituting] of the staff for info. This is business, but just someone working by a different set of rules.Broke some, now cant come to the country whose rules he broke.Unless, the Pardon sticks. And wouldnt that be something to really irk this author a little more than he already seems to be. His being a "journalist", I was surprised by his unprofessionalism in giving the facts. All the facts, and not his opinions.

2-0 out of 5 stars Was Milosevic a MI6 agent?
Dear Dr. Coleman,
3-0 out of 5 stars Dr. John Coleman's best
Every chapter in Diplomacy by Deception is a new subject.I am just guessing, but, it appears to me that Dr. Coleman took a selection of monographs he wrote, and, made them into a book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anyone interested in truthful history should read this book
Dr. Coleman does extensive research for this book, along with his other books. When the works in question have so much documentation behind it, how can you argue with that.

5-0 out of 5 stars History is too deep for some folks...
This book is outside the box.It is off the hook; you need to read this perspective on world government if for nothing else to jerk you out of the hypnotic matrix the Federally controlled schools and universities have put us in. 5-0 out of 5 stars a must read!... one negative reviewer did not read
This is one of the best books i've read. comprehensive and full of useful knowledge, fun to read and with much substance especially fulfilling for someone already having a bearing in the topic, though, thorough enough for one who is not.Jonathon M. Brunk has unintentionally lent great credence to Saussy's book in that, yes, Freemasonry is without a doubt and provable as having an extremely major role in America, as Saussy goes about to reveal and give many areas of proof in this very book, and is one of Saussy's main subjects he deals with.He gives very fulfilling history to freemasonry, vatican politics and intrigue both in the present day as well as going into great detail on the vatican during the birthing of America and throughout it's life.and the evolution of the relationship between these two heirarchies. It covers ancient history also, which is a must for understanding today. It is a very good book, even for those who haven't put much time into the subject.I would recommend this book to anyone who believes the Bible, and even if you're prejudiced about it, there are so many things to learn from this book.It is not the Bible. It is written by a man, and having read much of the Bible taking it for what it says it is, rulers of evil is such a great read for someone having some degree of a biblical worldview. However, even if you have much doubt about the bible or "religion", this book is not really a religious book at all.Wonderfully written regarding how the author deals with the reader, the circumspect view of history and today and how Saussy delivers is certainly worth reading. It isn't dry, nor a bunch of imagination or theory, though the theories in the book are plainly identified as theory by the author. Articulate, honest, and interesting. An absolute must for the thinking person, of whatever branch of knowledge you grow.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rulers of Evil: UseLESS "Knowledge"
The Jesuits run this country?!? And, according to one reviewer (with the poor spelling and the "PhD"), THAT'S why we have a priest/pedophilia problem?!? [Sigh]. Listen, instead of this pamphlet, read "The Secret Architecture of Our Nations Capital: The Freemasons and the Building of Washington, DC", a dense, information-packed piece of research that reflects all of the ten years the author poured into the meticulously documented work. Incontrovertibly, it offers PROOF VISIBLE TODAY for who founded this country (and not just it's capital), and not a trace of visible evidence exists that the founders were even mildly interested in the intellectual property of the likes of the Jesuits or ANY Catholic intellectuals. [In fact, whenever the Vatican tried to offer a piece of cut stone for the construction of the Washington Monument, along side a great many other countries, the denizens of DC hurled it into the Potomac.] This country was OPENLY antagonistic towards the Catholic Church, as every pre-schooler knows, and understandably so: the left-leaning doctrinaires on the back of our two-dollar bills thought the essential problem with the Old Country (which ever one that was) was the Catholic undercurrent that "kept" man in the Dark Ages and suspicious of Reason and Science and Intellectualism, the trinitarian gods of the Enlightenment. But who doesn't know this? The other reviewers of this book, apparently.

Editorial Review

In the past, I would roll my rapidly glazing eyes whenever I heard some formerly sensible person carrying the cudgels of conspiracy theories: you know the rants: the Trilateral Commission, CIA, FBI, Masons, and Secret Societies are all out to run the world and silence truth seekers with intimidation, death--or plankton up the nostrils--and it seems the body formerly inhabited by a friend is ready to board a ship to the moon. But then I came across this book, and I was stunned at the volume of detail and even facts that have been amassed by the obsessive believers in these seemingly wacko conspiracy theories. The most disturbing fact is that people investigating conspiracy theories seem to have the highest death rate of any profession -- other thanshark dentists. ..or at least predicted that something similar to it would happen. Why? Because what better way for the government to control its people than to have them come running to said government in order to protect them from "hidden menaces" whether they be communists or islamic terrorists? Also, what better way to keep the military-indutstrial complex running than a need to battle these "threats to national security"?Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Government Program Gone Crazy
After September 11 the Congress and the President had to be seen 'doing something.' And the result was the Department of Homeland Security and the Patriot's Act. The result of that has been that local governments all over the country have been able to get all kinds of grants to buy things like bullet proof vests for their K-9 dogs, a trailer to haul lawn mowers to lawn mower races, gym equipment, sponsor puppet and clown shows and the list continues to grow.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Introduction to Secret History.
Secret History and Conspiracy Theories, that is.
5-0 out of 5 stars It's a love-hate relationship for sure
Read Icke and be prepared for an extreme reaction. You see evidence of it here in the reviews but let me help you make the decision of whether you want to read this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars A must read
The gentleman David Icke's meteoric rise really has been astonishing and I cannot praise him enough. This book gives a pretty thorough precis of his work to date particularly in his historical analysis. I would describe it as all the history you were never taught at school and were too nervous to ask. The less open minded will naturally shy away and automatically ridicule all his theories but those willing to take a second look at world events will love his fact reappraisal. If you were never quite convinced when your history teacher told you a little serb shooting a Duke started the first world war, or that all the major world revolutions and civil wars just started as spontaneous revolts by hmmmm those 'revolting peasants' then this is the book for you. The conclusions though despite Icke's admirable philosophy is that the Elite evil doers really do have the upper hand and are strengthening it daily through their puppet politicians and huge mega multinationals that seem intent on destroying the human spirit.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book IS "The Big Lie"
A littany of distortions and fabrications, on par with Holocaust-denial.Think the USA provoked WW-II?That the USA faked the moon-landing?Then you'll love this book.A series of cherry-picked factoids, "cleansed" of anything that would undermine the pre-developed hypothesis, ignoring of eye-witness testimony where it undermines the conclusions, etc.Other investigative reporters went and interviewed many of the people Meyssan quoted in his book, and found he had manipulated their words. In an article "Panoply of the Absurd" (Der Spiegel, 37/2003 - 08. September 2003 online versions in both German and English) Meyssan's deceptions were unmasked:"Another example is the use of statements made by TV journalist Mike Walter, who witnessed the attack on the US Department of Defense as he was driving to work. Meyssan used Walter's statement to support his theory that the Pentagon was destroyed with missiles or remotely guided aircraft. Walter is still furious about this manipulation. He saw the aircraft fly toward the building and accelerate in a "soft curve." Then, says Walter, "it went into a dive and hit a light pole. Shortly after that, it slammed into the Pentagon. The wings collapsed, I heard the explosion, and then I saw the fireball. The guy who was flying it knew what he was doing. It behaved like a cruise missile." Meyssan only quoted the last sentence.5-0 out of 5 stars Very Intresting Read
The events of 9/11 were devestating, this book doesn't try to refute those facts. This book does, however, bring forth several ideas backed with enough logical evidence that makes a person think twice about what was really going on that day and how the government used the event as leverage to forge war.A few of the ideas mentioned in this book are; the 767 hitting the pentagon, yet no piece of the plane was ever recovered (the first time in history there's been no recovery of ANY piece of a plane after crashing on american soil), the mysterious stock-dumping of the airline companies affected on 9/11, and a very intresting piece on the heroin trade in afghanistan as being the main reason to forge war.As an American, I'd stand behind this book 100% with what's presented, it's obvious there's more going on than meets the eye.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uhhh....I think I know what this guy's been smoking!
WHAT? Give me a break! To even suggest that the US was behind the biggest tragedy many of us have ever seen is absurd. I find it hard to even comprehend where the author collected his turdbucket of information. It's almost as stupid as a Jordanian taxi driver once claimed to me during the summer of 2002, "Israel was behind 9/11. You will see!" Yeah...what would Israel have to gain? What would the US have to gain by beating the hell out of itself? That suggests we made attacks on ourselves to pin the blame on Arabs and wage a war. Whether you think the war in Iraq OR Afghanistan is worthwhile or not, if you have one iota of common sense you'd know that this book makes NO sense. Utter crap. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Paul Williams (the author) is a "Church historian", not a Catholic-basher
Please ignore review which heaps emotive bashing on the author, Dr. Paul Williams, as if Williams was some kind of "Catholic basher" (he is actually a dedicated Roman Catholic apologist).FYI, the back cover of another book he wrote, called "The Complete Idiots' Guide to the Lives of the Saints" (2001), describes Williams as having "served as professor of Catholic theology and patristics at the University of Scranton [which proudly identifies itself as "a Jesuit university"]" and as "senior editor of Northeast Books, the publishing arm of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars".(Hardly the credentials one would expect from a genuine "Catholic basher"!)If anything, Dr. Williams strives to pin the blame for various historic Vatican scandals on a cardinal, the Mafia, or other convenient scapegoats, etc., as a PR effort to minimize "damage control" to the Vatican's reputation for scandals in WWII history, etc.

4-0 out of 5 stars a great book
In its expose of Vatican intrique, particularly as it pertains to pre-World War II, this book is exceeded only by Lucien Gregoire's "Murder in the Vatican."Both books are very much history books and both are written to the maker's mark.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great history book
Growing up in America, one of my favorite topics in school was history, be it American, Western, or world history.Never in all those classes did I come across anything like the tales told in this book. The author is a historian of Christianity, and in this book he gives an inside history of the Vatican, with an emphasis on the 20th century.Specifically, he tells the facts that the Vatican would not like people to know. The major events covered in this book are:

5-0 out of 5 stars Conscientious objector to Oklahoma babbler.
I, also, have read this book.I found many useful and worthwhile insights to the actual intent of the founding fathers in their formation of the constitution in this narrative. Many people in America today are trying very hard to forget that our founding fathers were Christians. It is this precept alone which alienates so many of their detractors. The Oklahoma babbler had no actual contention with the esteemed Dr. Coleman. His animosity must have stemmed from a disgust for all that our founders held holy, true, and redemptive. This book alone will not teach you how to spell 'waste', but it may just inspire you to look a little closer at the current laws being passed off as 'comely' in a country with it's roots deeply steeped in the word of God.

1-0 out of 5 stars Subjective View
The better name for this would have been "The Subjective Biased view of our Democracy-Republic Today."What John Coleman neglected to observe was that the American judicial system and jurispudence in general has changed over the last 220 years. The Constitution was made as a living document, the Founding Fathers knew that would be the only way it would hold the Nation together.Coleman's adherence to "original intent" has led him astray in his subjective views about the Communist-Democratic New World order theory.I found no critical or logical research on the viewpoints and findings that this "Dr." put into his book.I struggled to make it through chapter one and only continued because I felt the book had to be a joke.I found myself being preached to from someone on a "soapbox" rather than actually learning anything important I didn't know about the United StatesConstitution. If you can make it through all of Dr. John Coleman's biased and allusive comments and subjective opinions then you might like this book.Otherwise, don't waist your time. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars know where your information is coming from...
i have not read this book, i stumbled across the listing on amazon and looked at it, so i can't actually comment as to the comments. but i want people to realize that the publisher is listed as the john birch society, a very right-wing fringe group that among other things in its history, was against the civil rights movement. look them up on wikipedia or something if you want more information, i just wanted to let people who are not familiar with the jbs know who was responsible for publishing this.

5-0 out of 5 stars security council/general assembly
In my humble opinion there should be a world democracy voting machine system for the big huge themes of our society, one human being one vote. EQUILIBRIUM OF POWER.

1-0 out of 5 stars murderous thug
I used to live in Appleton, the hometown of the Bircher's.I picked this book up at a used bookstore, and later resold it about a year ago. What really stood out for me was when Jasper TWICE--without any explanation--called Nelson Mandela a "murderous thug."Take that for what it's worth.read the book for all I care. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Needs better writing - start to finish. But ...
This book is Willey's ne plus ultra - he was clearly driven to write it and to self-publish it.While it adds much to the extant Pearl Harbor historiography; it is not recommended to the uninitiated, however. For example, those who do not know that the United States was a declared neutral country prior to Pearl Harbor and what that means will miss some of Willey's conclusions.Clearly much more editing is needed as Willey's writing is, in far too many places, severely and sadly disjointed.
1-0 out of 5 stars Great Work Of Fiction
Its a shame this book fails in its promise to expose a conspiracy but it makes for some good fiction. The author seems to feel that FDR was a communist and the reason he allowed Pearl Harbor to be attacked is to spread communisim around the world.
1-0 out of 5 stars Outdated Fraud
This book is a mess of every conspiracy under the sun. It was proven false by Budiansky and MANY others. THE KEY documents that CONSPIRACY theorists (like Willey) told us the government was keeping SECRET were DECLASSIFIED in 1998 and 1999 and are at the National Archives at College Park. They state that as of December 1, 1941, only 10 percent of the code groups and 5 percent of the additive groups had been recovered in AN-1 (aka JN-25B). Also a report by OP-20-G on decrypts produced in various Japanese code systems for each month of 1941 reports the number of decrypts in JN-25 as "none" Futhermore a complete internal history of the solution of JN-25, was written at the end of WWII. This document, which provides great cryptologic detail, explains how JN-25 was broken during each period. It fully confirms the testimony ofthe USN personnel involved. By the time of the Pearl Harbor attack, no JN-25 message had been read for intelligence value. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars An Act of Confusion
William Pepper's exhaustive research could be better served-- An Act of State meanders in and out of consciousness with a loose structure and story line--it's confuing. There are seemingly several relevant and compelling theories layed out on King's murder but the book is so convoluted it is sometimes difficult to follow Pepper's aruguments or thesis if there is one. Lloyed Jowers, the centeral figure at the heart of the conspiracy surrounding King's murder (According to Pepper) is presented as a relativley one dimensional character? With so much riding on Jower's involvement the reader begs to know more about the credibility and character of the man who came out of the shadows and pronounced to the world a mass conspiracy of murder involving the New Orleans Mob (they always get blamed--think JFK) the FBI & Hoover, and the local MPD. One missing componenet in all Pepper's research is Hoover's motive--Hoover no doubt despised King, spied on him and thought him a hypocrite but why would he want to Marytr him by having him killed?? These are not stupid people, Hoover must of known King would be canonized if he was murdered and naturally Hoover would be subject of hate as being such a public adversary--Pepper brings forth the theory of "Raul" the gun runner and hired assasin--perhaps the most intriguing charcter...Overall worth reading--labor intensive--Something happened down in Memphis on April 4th in the shadows of the Lorraine and downtown but by reading this book-- Pepper and everyone else are none the wiser.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Conspiracy against King
An excellent book, William Pepper's An Act of State can be read alongside Waldron and Hartmann's Ultimate Sacrifice, the best available book on the murder of JFK.The links between these two "hits" are particularly intriguing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely compelling reading
This book is written by an English lawyer, who comes to these events with an analytical eye. He compiles evidence, and draws conclusions based on the evidence. The resulting portrait is not flattering to the US government. The evidence he cites points to apparantly rogue elements of the FBI and intelligence services actively involved in plotting and cover-up of the assasination attempt. This book deserves a film or investigation of its own, as it reverses the commonly-held view that a lone gunman succeeded in the assasination attempt. Taken in context with later relevations of J.Edgar Hoover's abuses of power, spying on US citizens, the Nixon Enemies list, The Pentagon Papers, the growing power of the mob over political figures, and the insidious intersection of the drug trade with the arms trade and politics, this book shows a way that institutionalized violence by elements of the US government can undercut the democratic process.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is Terrible and I should know
Author Joan Mellen asked me if she could interview me for a book on Jim Garrison, the former DA of New Orleans who investigated the assassination of JFK. I worked for Garrison as a photo-analyst. Joan Mellen spent hours interviewing me in my home. I gave her information that had never been seen or revealed. She distorted the information and attacked me on a personal level though she never indicated that she was going to do that, I suppose because she thought I wouldn't grant her an interview. While I respected and admired Garrison's work, Mellen attributed to me things I never said. She annotated some of her statements but not some that were attacks on me. How serious can you take a book written by someone so irresponsibly?

5-0 out of 5 stars Proves Main Thesis Of Oliver Stone's JFK
This book & Ultimate Sacrifice take us further than ever before in laying out the individuals from multiple sources who killed our President. When Oliver Stone caught so much heat for his film JFK, many claimed Clay Shaw and David Ferrie were innocent men. I don't think too many people will say that after reading this book. The evidence is overwhelming Shaw, ferrie, Banister and Oswald not only knew each other, but worked together on Anti-Castro activities.. Although Garrison defnitely had a stronger case against Ferrie than Shaw, when ferrie died a few days after the Garrison investigation was made public, it was either give up the case or go after Shaw. At the time of the trial Shaw could say he was never employed by The CIA & garrison could not obtain any verification of his employment. This book proves Shaw not only lied about his employer& was not just a businessman being debriefed by the CIA, but rather he had the highest of 6 clearances and recruited others to be CIA Assets. He also lied about his relationships with Ferrie and Oswald- there are some 8-10 witnessess who knew Oswald worked for Banister & about the same number who saw Shaw, Ferrie and Oswald in Clnton & Jackson La.This is explained in convincing detail. To think the media assets of the major publications went out of their way to trash Garrison and defend depraved human sewage like Shaw and Ferrie who killed our President is, and will always be pathetic. My only problem with garrison Is don't have any doubts that Marcello was involved and this aspect you could knock Garrison and is much better explained in Ultimate Sacifice, however The main thesis of Stone's film is correct - JFK was pulling out of Vietnam-NSAM 263 was a direct order to pull out the troops by the fall of 65, and there was a conspiracy afoot in New Orleans & other places to remove JFK-it hardly matters if Oswald fired at JFK or not since the single bullet theory, and headshot from the rear deny all common sense, the best witnessess, and what we see on the Zapruder film.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stop Laughing and Start Reading.
Joan Mellon is a scholar and a Saint for writing a JFK Assassination book when many people laugh at Oliver Stone jokes and were not born yet on November 22, 1963. This is a great book to get a handle on the boiling moods in New Orleans and the Garrison investigation. It is well researched and in my humble opinion close to connecting the dots. All young American's should read this book and make their own decision on what is the most likely chain of events that crushed their dad's and grandmothers outlook on the American Dream. The fact is Garrison had more evidence pointing the finger at Ferry, Clay Shaw, and Oswald pals than the CA prosecuter had to convict Scott Peterson of Life in prison for murder. By it. Read it. Forget the conspiracy jokes. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Well Done; and Important
I have Amazon's recommendation system to thank for introducing me to the important work of Peter Levenda.Certainly, I would not have sought out this work otherwise. But, I am grateful that I did.Well done, Amazon!
4-0 out of 5 stars Almost up there with "Unholy Alliance" but not quite
Levenda is the best pure "writer" I've encountered in this genre of books. I simply could not put down "Unholy Alliance"! And most of this book is right up there with "Unholy Alliance"; it is readable, fascinating, and well researched. Levenda goes around turning over rocks in this book, and in almost every case I believe he finds sinister, ugly, creepy-crawly, living political poisonous realities that exist and have existed in the crevices of our nation.
3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
I'm kind of new to the occult genre (due to being relatively skeptical), but I heard a couple of interviews of Peter Levenda and was intrigued so I bought the book.Well researched stuff; presented in a conversational manner, which was entertaining for non-fiction.The facts that can be nailed down are, and cooincidences and synchronicities are identified as such leaving the reader to draw the conclusions.Overall, a fun non-fiction read, with an end note section at the end of each chapter that provides a great resource for future reading in the areas that one liked.I'll be picking up book 2. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I find it interesting
People who complain about the truth never have any facts to back it up. Womnder why? Those Facts do not exist. If the David Barrett report is ever realeased...Hillary and Bill will be in line for a prison term.
1-0 out of 5 stars Lazy Clip Job
Well of course this is biased nonsense. What did you expect? That's not my trouble with this book, as I expect nothing less from Rush's little brother. What did depress me was how lazily thrown together it was, like maybe Rush had a few of his interns dig up some Washington Times articles for David to weave together into a partisan rant. Also a tad distressing was the lack of any sort of historical perspective, on say what Ed Meese got up to let alone Nixon's crook Mitchell. (Though again this is standard party trick of right wing hacks so no surprise.) I am vaguely interested in whether David actually believes this stuff, as "The Legacy of Corruption" has the whiff of utter cynicism and making a buck off the rubes...

That's right I'm worried about Brad and Sherry. Why? All they do is research and write darn good books. Good thing for those of us who want to read them! When I got this book I could not put it down. Be prepared to spend some time reading it. Fascinating reading. Go take a vacation guys, you deserve it.
