Superb for basics in education
I used this text this past semester for a psychology class entitled "Psychological Development and Classroom Processes," and I must say that I can already tell that this book will be an invaluble tool for my future as an educator!It goes over so many basic principles, encourages interaction with the topics covered, and is set up in a way that early parts lead nicely into the later chapters, unlike in some other educational psychology books I've looked at.Covering everything from behavioral learning, to classroom management and beyond, this is a book that every educator should own.

Help for the Classroom
I am a classroom teacher. I read this book in a course as part of my Masters in Education program. It has a lot of practical advice for busy classroom teachers. It is easy to read and to apply the ideas into your own classroom.I highly recommend it!

I chose this book to read for my education class for the simple reason that I did not know what a differentiated classroom was.I have had ideas for a long time of how I would like to teach, I just never realized there was a name for it.This book explained in detail many examples that could be used in any classroom.This book was very easy to read because it was written in simple terms taken from stories of teachers all around the country.Theonly thing that I did not like was that a lot of the examples were aimed more at teachers who have been practicing for a while.This is definately a book that I will hold on to and refer to throughout my teaching career.

A Great Book

Good Overview of Training..
I guess that's what the intent of this book and it gives examples from an expert in Training. The articles from several experts in the field of training also supports the content and adds value.
Even If You ARE Smart...
Most of the time, people asked to conduct a training event or to become trainers are really smart, really good at what they do, and want to help others become good also. Where the perception that these smart people are "dummies" comes is from the stupid things they do in class, in their small group demonstration sessions, conducting on the job training, or in one-on-one mentoring. It has always amazed me that otherwise smart people can be so dumb when it comes to teaching others what they know.

Meh-
I've seen better high end audio books. I'm certainly not a member of the aforementioned "Scientific School of Audio System Performance Analysis", the only instruments that can accurately measure sound quality are the ones on either side of your head. I listen to what my ears tell me sounds good, and generally, tubes sound good. Which is why this book is sort of a disappointment, you'd think that out of 80 projects there'd be at least one tube phono preamp, but unfortunately there are no tube amps, just a few rants about how tubes don't produce enough power. Who uses more than a watt anyway? Even the transistor amps presented aren't much better than what you could get from Rex or Circuit City, similar schematics could probably be found on the internet for free. Go ahead and buy it if that's the sort of thing you're into, but if its tubes you want, try Morgan Jones' "Building Valve Amplifiers", it doesn't have many schematics but it coversin great detail the layout and contruction of tube amps. Good schematics can be found on the intarnub.

Tubes rule. Slone drools.
A good deal of this book is an attack on esoteric audio in general and vacuum tube equipment in particular. But just because Mr. Slone hates tubes (and he does, although he can't be honest with himself, like most fundies, and so has to attempt to disguise his real motives) doesn't change reality. Measurements aside, all other things being equal, tube equipment generally sounds better.
Twaddle, stuff, and nonsense
Basically this whole book is the effort of a hayseed electronics vendor to peddle his own kits of plain vanilla grade stereo equipment. With skilled electronic assemblers in America getting $8.30/hr (and equally skilled Asians getting that per day!) and components in hobby quantities bringing a 50 to 500 percent premium over what commercial buyers pay even in 100 piece quantities, he claims a hobbyist can better commercial grade designs in his hobby workshop cheaper.

An Excellent Guide that Came in Handy
Let me begin by saying that I started a new job, and before the transition, I bought four books on this same topic.I hoped that between all of them, I would learn everything necessary for my first 3 months at my new job.
Make a splash with Sink or Swim.
At last, a practical step-by-step manual for mastering the new job.Writing with energy, style, and conciseness, the authors have come up with a first rate guide for making a splash (pun intended) at your new company.Their advice is broken up into bite-sized pieces:a really doable action plan for each week of the first 3 months on the job.I wish someone had given me something like this when I was first starting out; however, I'm planning on using it the next time I change jobs.It really ought to be handed out in new hire orientations; it would be good both for the company and the newbie.

Not bad, but...
Overall, this book is one of the better college guides out there - it's well-organized, clean, and very useful for students, parents, and teachers alike, and it's easy to read, and does elicit laughter and chuckles.

I enjoyed browsing this book.My daughter is in the 'what's out there' stage.This book gives a brief, but excellent, overview of the covered colleges.The overview includes key stats and some of the flavor of the schools.I definitely recommend this book as a starting point.
