Transgression of the Mind
A disillusioned Betty commits a crime of passion showing little compassion. Her irreverent actions negate her parochial background. Nothing but burnt offerings pays homage to the memory of her victims.
Premeditated Action
If Betty could not satisfy Dan perhaps she had the problem. What were Dan's needs? That should have been her question. Actions speak louder than words and Betty's actions were a direct result of dysfunctional reasoning. I feel for their family and all touched by the ultimate devastating incident.
Excellent Debut
"Until the Twelfth of Never" is an excellent debut by writer Bella Stumbo, of an ugly and acrimonious divorce that turned deadly.

Eye Opening, Fun, Enlightening, Fun, Sad, Gruesome
Its given me so much incite into political workings, political networking, establishing connections, streetsmarts, collusion, and an interesting heritage.

When it comes to organized crime in the U.S., the talk is generally "Mafia this, Mafia that," and while La Cosa Nostra has certainly caused its share of mayhem, it's hardly fair to ignore the contribution other groups have made to the history of the American underworld.Tons of minority groups, white and otherwise--Blacks, Chinese, Russians, Armenians, Jews, and so on--have been involved in organized criminal activities to one degree or another, but as T.J. English points out in Paddy Whacked, the Irish have one distiction that can never be taken away: they got there first.English paints a vivid portrait of good old days that weren't always good, starting with the arrival of the first Irish immigrants after the potato famine of the 1840's and continuing through turbulent and violent times that saw the Irish emerge as a prominent force in the American criminal underworld as well as in American society as a whole.Paddy Whacked tells some highly unpleasant stories about Irish-American history, shedding light on inhuman poverty, ethnic and religious prejudice, violent gang wars, and large-scale political malfeasance, but that doesn't stop it from being mighty entertaining throughout, no matter what your background.If your view of the Irish is all shamrocks, leprechauns, and green beer on St. Patrick's day, this book should offer up some surprises, as much of what we associate with inner cities today (gangs, colors, drive-by shootings) had its roots at least partially in the Irish enclaves of the 19th and 20th centuries.

A few things unanswered..........
I first heard the name "Pee Wee Gaskins" in 1994. My new boss and I were traveling through the upstate part of SC to pick up a company car. We were discussings things unrelated to work and getting to know each other. When he asked if I enjoyed reading, I told him I enjoyed reading books about true crime, serial killers in particular. At that time, he told me I should get the book "Final Truth". I did.
Final Truth or Final attempt to "Become Famous?"
This book is a good read ( i finished it in a day ) but i just have some trouble beliving some of Pee Wee's stories - he even states himself that he has told several versions of the stories -so why should i believe without doubt that this book is "the truth"? ... from reading profiling books on serial killers - you find that these killers may change up the way they kill / despose of their bodies - to make an improvement - but gaskins has 2 ways of killing people and he bounces back and forth between them -- doesn't make much sense ...

This autobiography by serial killer Pee Wee Gaskins is brought to you by the apparently easily-duped co-author, journalist Wilton Earle. Gaskins' justifications and distortions are passed along with little examination or challenge, and probably bear small resemblance to the facts.

Criminology and criminal justice has been the subject of a lot of research. Critical criminology has evolved over the past two decades and a number of new sub-branches have developed.Most popular research would be improved by greater emphasis on the branch of criminology known as "Minarchist Realism" or "Libertarian Realism."

Shocking material in a chewy read
A hard-to-follow structure and a dry, academic writing style make this powerful and much-needed book less accessible than it should be. Superb study of US state's use of mercenary drug-runners
This is an outstanding and revelatory book, a brilliant account of a drug-trafficking empire. He shows how US protection for their drug-runner allies has led to the huge increase in drug trafficking in the last 50 years.
Parapolitics metastasize into deep politics
Peter Dale Scott illustrates clearly that one of the main aims of the US foreign policy is control of oil, because the US is heavily dependent on foreign oil and oil markets.

Criminal Behavior : A Psychosocial Approach (7th Edition
This has been an extremely helpful book for criminal justice majors and psychology majors alike. I would reccomend this as a do not sell at the end of the semester, it is one to keep.

Needs more...
I disagree with the many reviews which compare this text to White's Human Osteology. While there is no doubt that the text is informative and the treatment of the subject thorough, Scheuer's text lacks enough illustrations to make it worth the buy for practical use in identifying fragmented juvenile or infant remains. White's text provides at least one photo and description of each bone, usually from every angle. When Scheuer releases a second addition, with far less text, and more photos or illustrations for osteologists who do not have access to a skeletal collection of juvenile and infant bones, then it will be worth the buy.

A must-have reference book
This is a first rate holistic treatment of sub-adult osteology.The text covers the entire juvenile skeleton.Chapters contain drawings of each skeletal element, descriptions of growth, unique developmental attributes and in some cases, illustration of the element through different growth stages to see the sequence of changes of the bone up to adulthood.Read more

Excellent Resource
This book succintly provides critical information for judges, therapists, parent evaluators/GALs, and most importantly parents trying to protect their children from harm.It highlights the many misconceptions present in the legal system that enable abusers to continue to victimize their children and spouses, and explains how these situations should be addressed, backed by data to support the authors' conclusions.This is a credible well-written book that provides a rational counter to the awful theories of Richard Gardner.

Anyone with real experience and knowledge in the realm of domestic violence can clearly see that Bancroft is on target. He is one of the few authors who truly understands the dynamics of abuse and can accurately assess those who are truly abusers ... many of whom call themselves the "victims." There are definitive signs of men who abuse, though they work so hard to hide it that they get angry when they discover their attempts don't work with Brancroft.

Columbo demoted for sloppy crime scene analysis!
This is a 'how to' book:how to secure a crime scene; how to collect fingerprints (and feet, lip, and ear prints); how to identify blood splatter patterns, etc.It's not quite detailed enough to be considered a text book, unless the teacher uses supplementary material, but it is packed full of real-life examples, which is why I read it.

A great book to explore the field and career opportunities. Very descriptive book. Wonderful for reasearch or leasure reading.

Unless you have been on Statins and have experienced the negative side effects that they can cause, you won't appreciate this book.I am a college educated, experienced professional, who experienced VERY disturbing side effects while on Statins (memory loss, fatigue, muscle pain, etc.).Don't buy into the "I'm a Doctor, I'm a Scientist, I should know" B.S. from some reviews of this text.Trust your gut and question everything that anyone tells you to put into your body - M.D. or Naturalist.Anyone pushing a hard sell has an agenda - usually monetary.
Review by a cardiologist with extensive experience with use of the statin agents.
As a practicing, invasive and non-invasive cardiologist specializing in the still rare practice of preventive medicine, this book (and other similar writings under the guise of enlightened information) is largely unfortunate, especially for those readers also suspicious, gullible and paranoid, who are looking to spend their time & money to further support their existing ideas. I have personally taken statins and recommended them to all members of my family (though only those members I respect and for whom I fell some love) since 1990, well before good double-blind, placebo controlled, prospective trial treatment outcome data was available. Naturally, for self interest reasons, I have also watched the scientific evidence about human (and animal) responses to statin treatment overtime very closely.

History is fun!
A look at the history of U.S. presidential assassinations.Part history, part comic commentary, Ms. Vowell extensively documents her visits to sites (official or not) associated with these events.The history of the assassinations alone is interesting and details are often overlooked (or not looked at at all - e.g., Garfield, McKinley) when these events are presented / captured in popular forums.It is a quick read that will shed light on and insight into these assassinations that you never considered before.

I will buy this book from you if you don't like it
I read this book aloud to 5 pre- and teenagers on a grueling road trip down south over Easter. Not only did it hold their attention the entire time it was an incredible coincidence to pass an important site in the book at the EXACT time we were reading about the capture of John Wilkes Boothe. Because of the author's exacting description we were able to arrive at the exact site she describes in such detail and VOILA, nearly living history. (Of course, being uncouth Northerners we allowed our dog to pee on the shrine in question and one child left eggs from his Easter basket on the marker).This book compelled me to read three or four more books about Lincoln, Booth and assorted others Vowell writes about. She captures history in such a remarkably approachable manner, I've since bought copies for every history teacher in our school district. Every American should read this book and even if you think you know about our first assassinations, you will learn something, and laugh while learning it. Spectacular.

Move over Bill Bryson, there's stiff competition
Assassination Vacation is one of the best books I've read this Summer. Ms Vowell should take up teaching American history. Her brilliant and expert knowledge of her subjects (normally written about in stententious and serious tones given the subject matter) is quite impressive. But, it is the wit and humor and unusual angle of expression and personal observations that is the most captivating. I was amazed to learn so much more about the Lincoln assassination and conspirators (despite more than 35 years of reading and research on the subject) and view it from a different and less reverent angle. But even more, I was entranced by the Garfield and McKinley coverage - which added huge amounts of information to my very limited knowledge of either of these presidents or their assassins and the events surrounding them. Garfield came off so much better than I ever knew - which was very little. And his hilarious "disappointed office seeker" far more ambitious (Ambassador to France?) and political (Stalwart for Grant) than I ever knew. Don't know how one can make an account of assassinations hilariously funny? Read this book - and don't assume that it isn't historically accurate, because it is. This one is a real keeper and I am thinking of buying it on tape - just so I can listen to it while stuck in traffic, so that fellow travellers can see someone who is having fun while in the midst of DC rush hours.Have fun with this book and share it with everyone you know who loves history and has a good sense of humor. ...
