Skip the profanity
A fairly good text, it probably covers the field better than other available sources. However, the selection of illustrations seem to be chosen based on how much profanity they can include. I realize that crisis situations involve people who don't monitor their usage, but why include every F--- and other curse word when they aren't needed to convey the meaning. An invaluable tool in the field of mental health.
Gilliland and James have successfully created an extremely comprehensive introduction to crisis intervention methodology in this text.Read more

Excellent book for everyone
This book is very detailed and is perfect for a nursing student, practicing nurse or anyone who is interested in the theories of Crisis Intervention. I still read through the book occasionally to review everything that I have learned and it is a great help just for people in general social service situations.I highly recommend this book.

Yikes! Preachy to say the least.
This book is full of religious views and dogma to understand relationships.Not exactly science here.My own fault for not looking a little closer before purchase.If your not "born again" read something else.
