This book serves as an excellent resource for K-12 teachers.

Minilessons Galore!
This was an excellent book with 174 minilessons for teachers to use for reading. There are nine chapters in the book; however, only four chapters are usable for upper grade teachers. Middle school and high school teachers would probably not find these minilessons useful. The four chapters that could be beneficial for upper grade teachers include minilessons for literature discussions, independent reading, informational texts, and writing ideas. I teach fifth grade, and I was able to get some ideas and use some of the reproducibles from this book. I haven't read this book, but one reviewer said that they incorrectly used "wo" for the particle commonly represented as "o"-- this is false; "wo" is the name of the particle; the w sound is merely softer than that in "wa".

Good for review if you have been cursed with JSL
For those of you with the extreme misfortune of having to use Eleanor Jorden's abysmal text (Jorden's Solipsistic Language), this book may save your grade. It contains all of the grammar covered in first year Japanese. Furthermore, all examples are given in hiragana/katakana/kanji, with a romanji and an English translation. In other words, although this is a grammar survey, it also provides you with the reading practice that you'll need in order to achieve any degree of fluidity in Japanese. Cover up the English and the romanji lines and see how much you can read. You won't get all of the kanji, but even reading everything around the kanji will help you, and the more you see kanji, the less strange they seem. You will pick some up just from the frequency with which they appear. As for the grammar explanations: they are both concise and self-sufficient, just what a beginner needs. Finally, the book provides answers to all exercises, an often neglected feature of texts written by egomaniacs such as Eleanor Jorden. Buy this book if you want a clear and straightforward Japanese grammar book that offers exercises and solutions, in addition to reading practice and an easy to use index and table of contents.

good value for money
I bought this book a few months ago as it seemed to explain most of the essential points of Japanese grammar as well as provide exercises to test your understanding.At my local foreign language book shop, there was a plethora of Japanese language books to choose from but some only skimmed the surface where as others were great slab-like enclyclopaedias which should have come with a warning "contents under extreme pressure".Read more

If you hate word problems, get this
The bane of all mathematics students ( generally speaking) is usually word problems. This book does the easy to follow step by step walk through of the most common word problems used in most Calc I & II courses. ( Heavily towards the calc I). Sets up the problem, draws a diagram of what exactly you're looking for, shows you how to set up the corresponding equation and solve. 1,2,3.
Okay, as far as it goes
Overall, this is an execellent book. My only criticism is this: The bulk of the problems focus on the use of differential calculus. Very little space is given to the use of integration, other than the usual "area under a curve" and "volume of a solid of revolution" stuff. Integration is useful for many other kinds of problems; they should be included.

I think out of a lot of books My brother Sam is Dead is a good read. i think when it comes to history this book fits in really well. I think that because i learned about the past reading this book. So i hope kids read this book and i know that they will learn from reading this book....

Love this workbook!
My 2 1/2 year old Son loves this workbook! He is still too young to understand a lot of it, but he loves doing his "homework" from it. He enjoys the photos I think. It does a good job at capturing a childs attention.

Great book, but seems like it should go after the K book
This is a great book, but because there are alot of pages that include tracing of words I am personally using this book after I have gone through the Kumon workbooks about upper and lowercase letters.The Kindergarten book in this series has more content and at a higher level, but it does not contain any tracing of words.This seems strange to me, because in Kindergarten is when kids really start learning how to read.Overall the books (Pre-K and K) are definitely worth the investment, I just question the order of the content between the two books and within each book.I ended up going with the School Zone books first and I will do these books afterwards.The School Zone books are definitely at a lower level than these books.

I wish learning was this easy when I grew up
I bought several of thosebooks < different grade levels> just so I am prepared for the next few years.
