All around good book
This book cleared up a lot of things for me.The method of tuning of Hondas and Acuras was explained in great detail.It helped me get a good idea of what to do first.Also, it includes short features on some specific Honda and Acura tuners.Maybe the most helpful of all, however, was the features on the technical aspects of many not as well known modification parts. Now I know what the difference between driving, fog, and spot lights is. It also includes sections on performance wheels and tires, and how to build the perfect Civic.The book was a great overall look at Hondas and Acuras, without using too much over-tecnical lingo.You don't even have to own an Acura or Honda to enjoy it.I am fourteen years old and I loved it!I would reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in car modification.

Not good enough
I have an 1995 Integra GSR and it is probably the most modified car besides the Honda Civic. However, this book has more information for civics. It wouldn't bother me as much, except it tells how to make a civic into essentially, what a GSR is. For example, it shows how to install a short throw into a Honda. However the Integra already has a short throw. There are other mods too, but those are just common sense (Intake, headers, and exhaust, etc.) Another thing that I really don't like, is that it tells you how to make your car only good for drag racing. I would appreciate information telling how to make a good fast car that is also street legal. THis is an OK book for beginners and may be a better one for people who intend to race their car on the track only, but for me, its not worth it.

Great Starter Book for Tuners
I have a basic model Honda Civic hatchback and I wanted to start making modifications to it for racing applications, but I didn't know how to start.This book provides a great base for those without Honda tuning or modification knowledge and points them in the right direction.Although limited in technical aspect, the author makes up for it by providing good examples on how to get modification accomplished (go to a pro).I would have liked to see more road racing applications covered in the book rather than drag racing....A great compliment to other Honda tuning books! ... Excelent choice for the beginners

This is not a Book, it a long ad for the required software
This book is basically just a long winded ad for the expensive software. They should have just made this book cost $150 and included the software. Or they could have added $20 to the cost of the software and just given this book out as the user manual. Costantly the book explains a setup that requires the software to take advantage of. Don't buy this book unless your prepared to invest the additional monies into the chasis setup software. ... Read more

Detailed Suspension Handbook
This review doesn't offer to much insight on basic lifts, or give a summary of advantages between a body lift or suspension lift. But, if your vehicle is one of the many featured in this book, I highly recomend purchasing this book. The author shows many how-to photos of the processes being done by professionals and gives many helpful hints so nothinig goes to wrong in the process of upgrading your suspension.

Don't Waste Your Money!!!
Very little tech info. The title is misleading. The book covers some basic stuff like types of suspension, but lacks any real substinance. It covers mostly the installation of after market suspensions and not "how to build rugged off-road suspensions." Almost all of the chapters are taken directly out of the magazine. Save your money and skip this book.

Very small amount of tech here.
Thw whole book is just collection of articles taken from previous magazines. Many disgraceful ad plugs. Very little tech. A very disappointing book. ... Read more

The best book ever!
It is the best book for mofifiand the small block and get the most power you can. I am really happy with it.

Great book on Small-Block Chevys
Part of this book's title, "big-inch, small-block", reminds me of oxymorons like "jumbo shrimp", "pretty ugly", "mandatory option", or "open secret". That put a little smile on my face before I even opened the cover.

Every Aspect in Detail? NOT
This books description on the rear cover and in the publishers description indicates that "every aspect of restoring a 1946-1967 Ford pickup is covered in detailed text that's full of how-to advice from expert restorers". I can only say I think NOT. This IS a good book, with lot's of good GENERAL info, and lot's of good advice, and I'm sure most of the contributors are experts in some or all stages of restoration, but this book covers every aspect of restoring not one of the model years listed, LEAST of which is the 1965 and later models.This particular period (67) is exactly what I was looking for info on. I found that this book covered many general areas of the type/style equipment found on the models of truck listed, and had picktures of many of the models listed, but had specific info about almost NONE of the models listed.

Perfect companion for restoring your Ford Truck
Very good detail and lots of great original information.Very good how to for restoring any classic Ford truck.One of the best I've seen for restoring my trucks (46's & 47)and any other old Ford truck.

Building Custom Cars Or Building New Cars?
Boyd hasn't really impressed me and he really doesn't in this book.You can watch his television show and see where his passion lays.In his wallet.If he cared about hot rodding he wouldn't cut the cars up that he has.Not impressed with him or his Boydsters.

A good reference for SN95 enthusiasts
This book is the best available on SN95 in addition to Fox Body.I've read Mustang 5.0 Projects and Mustang Performance Handbook, and they very rarely talk about SN95's. Too high level - not enough detail
This book's description and title gives the impression that there are detailed procedures illustrated in the book however it is VERY high level with no detail whatsoever. If you're only looking for mod ideas, this book is fine but if you're wanting down and dirty details, go elsewhere.

The only 5.0 book you'll ever need!
As a loyal fan to the 5.0 Mustang; I found this book to be highly educational.Steve Turner gives you the facts; what works and what doesn't, for the small and big budgeted 5.0 enthusiast. I read this book four times over in the first three weeks I owned it. This is an excellent book for anybody who loves 5.0 Mustangs; giving you a brief overview of their history before unleashing you to the masses of useful information it holds. Informative Read
This book presents a lot of ideas for projects in a way that the average person could understand the level of difficulty involved and the tools and products necessary to complete them. Excellent full color photos. If you are a master mechanic or engine builder then this may not be challenging enough. However, if you own a Mustang in need of repairs or upgrades, then this is a great place to begin. Plus, being an old car magazine junkie, I recognized that the author was a former Editor of Super Ford and Mustang Monthly magazines. I would reccomend this book to anyone as a solid information guide.

Pretty Pictures, not much else
While the graphic presention in this book is excellent, the content is sorely lacking in detail. This is more of an idea book than an instructional one. Their rating system for degree of difficulty is completely innaccurate. Removing front coil springs is rated as more difficult than tasks like replacing the upper control arms (which require removing the front coil springs!) or even front rack and pinion conversions, which are extremely difficult. If you are looking for ideas on some possible projects, this is an OK book, although the information is widely available elsewhere. An interesting historical study, but little relevance today
If you're interested in the history of hot-rodding or the small block Chevy V8, then you might find a few interesting things in here. However since this book was written over 30 years ago, it predates the development of much of the performance aftermarket for the SBC. Much of the focus of the book is on modifying stock parts to make them suitable for performance use, when today the same or better results could be obtained more easily or in many cases more cheaply with new-technology aftermarket parts.

One of the classic great books on the small block chevy
Covers all the building blocks of performance Small Block engine building. This book was written before all the electronic fuel injection and aluminum heads of the eighties were introduced. So it's really aimed at non fuelinjected cars. This is 70's technology, very well written with good photos.A Classic reference book I keep in my toolbox. Ok. Book But Not Too Great
Wouldn't recommend this book if your a beginner. Some of the explanations that Joe Pettitt gives about car audio are not well described and there's no full detail. I believe by the time you finish reading this book you will have a better understanding about car audio, but I don't believe your understanding will be great enough to begin your own install though. I would recommend The Car Stereo Cookbook by Mark Rumreich over this book.

Atrocious book
I wouldn't waste 1.00 at the local bookstore if this was on clearance. This book offered no real quality information in my opinion. I feel I wasted my money on this book.
