A waste of paper - a waste of time!
I'm sorry, but as a former driving instructor who has taught hundreds of teens how to pass their (UK) driving test, and as a former police traffic patrol officer who specialised in talking with groups of kids in the 15-25 year-old age bracket about how to stay alive on today's roads, and as someone who has now driven for several years on America's roads, I found this book to be utterly useless! Mr. Dimbleby, don't quit your day job!
I have been four wheeling for 15 years, and this has to be the worst book I have ever read on the subject.The techniques described in this book should not be attempted by anyone, even the most experienced!Thisoff-road manual depicts very dangerous recovery techniques, driving habits,and more. For example, there is a picture with a man operating a winchwhile standing two feet away from the cable that is under heavy tension(!),and the caption warns not to let your hands get close to the drum! Overall,I was very disappointed in this manuscript!

A great survival guide for almost any scenario!
This book was cool! I learned a lot from it, including how to make bows & arrows, fires and shelter.What was also usefull was the section on ebidle and non-edible plants.Also included was a health section and howto make emergency operations.This was a cool book! ... Read more

Tongue in Cheek?I think not.
This book is written to sound tongue-in-cheek, but having lived and driven in Boston for two years, I can assure you it's not.I've seen every manuever described in this book, some of them by the Boston and Cambridge PD.For anyone moving to Boston, this should be required reading.It will teach you how to make Boston Left Turns, how to park in Back Bay, even how to cross a street as a pedestrian.Yes, it's amusing, but it's also a survival manual. (Oh, also get your car licence changed before you try any of these--out of towners get ticketed for these moves.For in-staters, about the only way to get a moving violation is to hit a pedestrian voter.)

Getting around Boston can be a hairy business
Driving in Vancouver can be a dicey affair, as many of the drivers here are very strange and don't appear to know what they're doing. It annoys my wife even more than it does me. When my wife and I were looking over a list of books to review, The Boston Driver's Handbook: The Almost Post Big Dig Edition jumped out at my wife. "That should be funny," she said. So I asked for it. Does it live up to its promise? One thing I do know. After reading this book, driving in Boston sounds even worse than driving here. And that takes some doing!
Am I really this bad a driver?
I always thought of myself as a good Step 9 driver: granted, it took me two tries to get my license, but I've had exactly one parking ticket, I've been pulled over exactly once and got off with a warning, and every dent and ding I've put into the car has been below the deductible and couldn't be reported to the insurance company.After reading this book, it seems I am a bigger psychotic behind the wheel than I had known.I never thought that most of the manuevers listed here were borderline vehicular suicide, and I was even taught how to do the Boston Left Turn (you pull halfway out into the road, blocking the traffic on your left until a car coming from the right lets you go) in driver's ed.A lot of the diagrams are hilarious (you'll never make sense of Brighton intersection dynamics), and they also include the obligatory pedestrian scoring scale (you don't want to be Tom Menino or Mitt Romney).The best part is the epilogue describing the future of Boston driving--by the end of this century, it will become an Olympic sport, and the Central Artery Tunnel will become a pedestrian shopping mall. ... The worst racing instruction book I have read
I have read over a dozen instructional books on racing, and this is easily the worst.It doesn't ever get specific enough about the lessons it tries to teach, and even though I was familiar with every subject it covered, I was still confused by some of their descriptions.I believe an experienced and educated racer will find this book too elementary, and the beginning racer won't understand that they aren't being taught the whole lesson, and their driving will suffer.Start with Watts' "Secrets of Solo Racing", which has very relevant and helpful diagrams (unlike this book) and go from there.You will be a better driver for it.

Think to Win:The New Approach to Fast Driving
This is an excellent book for a new and an experienced race driver.
Good racing book.

A reader's nightmare
I found this book to be terrible.It is filled with philosophy, proverbs, poems, quotes, inpirations, and christian teaching.The book has nothing to do with a teenager driving a car.Many pages are one sentence, with meaningless colorful drawings.What a waste.Save your money and buy another book.

An Inspired Guide

I'm a huge fan of this book. In fact I camped out overnight at my local Barnes and Noble to ensure I was the first one to get a copy. I have to let you know that it was completely worth it. If anybody is having any kind of trouble raising their teen or just wants some good reading material for their family, be sure to put this book at the top of your list.

Mixed feelings
This is not a booklet, this is a pamphlet! Well, OK, I'll call it a booklet, but it is not 30 pages as advertised. They have numbered the cover as page 1, and the inside front cover as page 2. The actual text starts at page 6. Page 30 is the last page of the Glossary. The actual text ends on page 28.That makes 23 pages of text. BOOKLET - should be titled "The Physics of Driving"
This is NOT a book. It's a BOOKLET, stapled in the middle. The information is not at all what I expected from a father who wrote this BOOKLET for his teens. I did NOT find this helpful for supporting my teen in learning to drive! I must, however, commend the author on having had teens who wereapparently more genius than hormone. Much of what information there isdeals with the Physics of Driving, NOT the "ABCs" - NOT practical& not worth the money. I am returning my copy and will find myselfcautiously checking the # of pages listed for a "book" so that Idon't end up paying ten bucks for a BOOKLET ever again.

Read it, pass it on!
