How can you go wrong with Curious George?
I bought this book to use as favors for my children's birthday party.The party was taking their cousins/friends to see the movie Curious George.It's a very cute book and Curious George's curiousity doesn't get him in too much trouble.It shows all the things that the man in the yellow hat does to prepare for a surprise party for George.It's great to see my children (3 and 5) enjoying book characters that I enjoyed as a child.

Exactly what I wanted!!
I postponed buying this book because I felt I could download mini-book templates off the Internet and make my own.I usemini-books as inserts for file folder unit studies (also called lapbooks), and also to teach various concepts in a visual way.
Superb for Teachers and Home schoolers
This is a great book for teachers and homeschoolers. This book basically teaches you how to make simple small books using paper, pencils, and a stapler. That is it. There are a lot of examples and pictures that show you different ways to use each book. The ideas are great. The directions are easy. Gets your creative juices flowing! Easy to do!
Elementary school teacher Dinah Zike has written this great book to explain ways to make little books by using special folds and/or glue. Many different styles of mini-books can be made quite easily. Children themselves can make many of the little books, with a parent or teacher guiding them. The instructions are easy to follow and you will soon be coming up with many ways to incorporate these little books with learning. Making little books with tidbits of information or with vocabulary words is one way to bring a hands-on element to learning. Children will be happy to have little books that they authored.Read more

Guided Reading:Good First Teaching for All Children
Great book to help teachers organize their classroom for guided reading groups. Has wonderful ideas to impliment learning centers and management of those centers while teaching guided reading groups. Our school has a copy of this book for each teacher to model their classroom after.

I knew that my guided reading program needed to change, but didn't no exactly how to go about improving it. This book has all the answers!Although I'm on summer break, I can't wait to go back in the fall and get started on my new literacy program, putting into practice all the things I've learned from this book.

Practical ideas for facilitators
I have worked with adult learners for more than fifteen years and have always tried to incorporate whole-brained, participative learning.This book provided some excellent theoretical background as well as a lot of new instantly usable ideas.I wasn't even all the way through before I applied a couple of the techniques and got an excellent response from my client.

excellent training tool
I was getting ready to prepare a training program for 44 persons when I read this book.Immediately! after I used the guidelines to prepare my session.Preparation was fast and easy -and fun! I really couldn't believe that it was that easy to apply and it has been one of my best sessions to date. I refer to it when I need a refresher or a new perspective. I definately reccomend this book for trainers who need to keep their material fresh and interesting (esp. in-house trainers).

Accelerated Learning Handbook

Buyer Beware!
If you want a review of subjects you know pretty well, Beating the CSET may be a good choice.If, however, you're rusty or actually need to learn some material for the first time, don't buy this book.Why?Of all the books I have read the last 20 years (over 1,000...I read at least a book a week), this book has the most MISTAKES!
Very helpful!
I think this is the best CSEST book out there.I read this book from cover to cover in the 2 weeks before the test, then took the CSET and passed all 3 tests on my first try!I really didn't have to use any other resouces.At times this book got a bit wordy and could have used a few more visuals, but other than that it worked for me!!!
Good Test Prep, Hurriedly Put Together
I just took the CSET today, so I don't know how well I did.However, I can review this book for what it is.It's well organized, clear, and I found it helpful when I took the CSET.There were two questions on the CSET that I didn't read ANYTHING about in this book.However, there is too much information to cover in just one book anyway.

A professor recommended Van de Walle's books to me so I bought this one.This book explains how to teach math so that students build on existing knowledge, rather than learn sets of algorithms without understanding their meaning.It offers a range of specific lessons for all math topics for grades 5 - 8, it explains how to teach the same topics to diverse learners, how to teach to the standards.It comes with amazing templates that are downloadable.It shows you how to take advantage of your existing math textbook, supplementing it to make it more student-focused.

Excellent resource for middle school/junior high teachers
Van de Walle breaks down problem based classrooms in an understandable format. This book really helps teachers hone their skills in hands on/problem based teaching for mathematics. There are lots of activities to help you teach your students. This book is a must have for 5-8 Mathematics teachers.

Good text for new teachers
This book has great listings of activities to do with kids, whether in the academic setting or a camp/child care setting. Fun games, exercises and other activities are easy to look up and have good directions. A solid textbook for new teachers.

Dynamic Physical Education for Elementary School Children, 14th Edition
This is an excellent aide in learning how to teach physical eduation to elementary school students. Pangrazi is an excellent author and essential information and helpful tips to teach physical education. Overall, this book is the most useful and I am definately not selling it back.
