5-0 out of 5 stars Radical Wisdom -
Radical Wisdom by Dr. Beverly Lanzetta is a rare and articulate revelation of the distinct spiritual journey traveled by a woman or man who feels drawn to the subtler, embodied trek toward the Divine. Intellectually and emotionally accountable, the work puts words toaspects of the mystical spritual journey seldom discussed. It particularlly addresses a woman's experience of the world, of herself, of her own body, and of the Divine Mystery that most works have only pointed toward. A functional blend of historical perspective and mystical apprehension, Lanzetta offers a humble and pristine glimpse that will serve to legitimize and elevate a woman's life as a distinct path to the holy Mystery. This work positions itself in the current-day struggles of all vulnerable beings, whether female, male, child, or nature, and finds voice and power in themovement of everyday lives. Radical Wisdom is a ground-breaking, much needed work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Radical Wisdom is a labor of love -
It is a "must read" for any woman who has been searching for the Heart of God as she will discover Her in the very depths of her own self, through the experience of reading this book. While reading Radical Wisdom an indelible impression was made within my heart that spiritual freedom can only come through the healing of the Sacred Feminine, Blessed Be She - and while particular to women, also includes the need for healing of the sacred feminine within men.Dr. Lanzetta pierces a level of wounding of the sacred feminine that has been primarily directed at the core of the feminine spirit/soul, inflicted primarily by the oppression ofPatriarchal religions as well as the still-patriarchal world/society we live in.Women around the globe have suffered throughout history and are still suffering today. My experience with Radical Wisdom has been one that is so personal and intimate - one that has allowed me to encounter these deeper stirrings that have taken me to a new depth of vulnerability in God. I am truly grateful to Dr. Lanzetta for this work.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gender, Religiosity, and Proscription in The Will to Arise
This paper will review Oduyoye and Kanyoro's The Will to Arise ( __), and more specifically, its tenth chapter, "Human Sexuality, Marriage, and Prostitution," by Bernadette Mbuy Beya. The overall text provides a general survey of specific issues relevant to African women. Before criticizing various qualities of Beya's work, I introduce the chapter as part of the larger work by Oduyoye and Kanyoro, which serves as an informative gateway text into more specific, scholarly study in women's status, traditions, and religiosity in Africa. Beya's chapter provides a site where specific dynamics of female sexuality might be explored and may incite further study. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, practical guide to liturgy from a feminist perspective
Teresa Berger's wide-ranging book on Christian liturgy is by far one of the best books I've read on the subject. It's structured as a series of meditations on the liturgical year, beginning with the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene and proceeding through Advent and Lent to end with thoughts on Trinity Sunday, baptism, and the ordinary rituals of ordinary time.
5-0 out of 5 stars a pleasant surprise
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book.Sometimes books on feminism are loaded with feminist theory and loose with history. This one is solid: rich in the facts, accessible, and well organized. It would be good for a classroom and as a resource for ministers throughout the liturgical calendar.Read and enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Stirring of the Soul by a Great Scholar
My friend Kay and I, having been privileged participants in one of Professor Berger's seminars at Duke Divinity School, read the Introduction to this volume together and found ourselves profoundly moved by the reflections of this great Catholic Christian scholar.Fragments of Real Presence is the ideal book for women's study groups -- the attractive physical size of the book as well its user-friendly text and font is an added pleasure -- and promises to provide many sleepless nights for those moved to explore more deeply the movement of women in and through the Christian faith community. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!
I love the Chicken Soup books, so I thought I would try this one out. It is very similar and I absolutely loved it. I cried and I laughed throughout the book. These stories really touch your heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars These Stories Will Make You Laugh, and Make You Cry
This was my first CUP OF COMFORT experience.I bought it because my friend Dera Williams has a story in it, and I wanted to read her story about quilting as a legacy.Well, I thoroughly enjoyed Dera's story, and then I started reading the book from the beginning and was quickly pulled in by the beautifully told stories by women who, although just like me, each had her own story to tell.Stories that uplifted me, and made me think of life's possibilities. I highly recommend this book to any woman who needs a little inspiration to kick-start her day, or week, or year! ... Read more

This is a truly great and potentially life changing book.I highly recommend it for anyone who has had their fill of "domination religion" and would like to look into a more compassionate understanding, hopeful and even realistic look at faith.

4-0 out of 5 stars Philosophical opposition to feminist theology
This is a set of essays all coming (broadly speaking) from a position that opposes the central claims of feminist theology. (As distinct from feminism itself, of course, or an understanding of feminist concerns; this is about philosophy, theology, and language, not an attempt to perpetuate the acknowledged sins of the church against women throughout time.)

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic for both content and commentary
This book is THE starting place for those seeking to understand the variety of women's religious writings and experiences in the medieval west. The chosen texts are very good themselves, and Petroff's commentary is very helpful to modern readers seeking to understand a sometimes alien discourse.I use this as a textbook in religious studies and women's history courses for university freshmen and sophomores and get consistently good comments from my students about the book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a rich source for understanding a complex issue
I am so grateful to Kaye Ashe for writing such a concise, readable text relating to the complex issues that face women in the Catholic Church today.I have been researching this subject for over ten years, and I am always looking for good reference material for adult education classes. This will be an excellent resource because it covers the subject in such away that it can be adaptable to many levels of learning experiences.Ihope the book finds its way into the hands of every spiritual director andalso the college classroom for it is timely and challenging. We owe such adebt to Kaye Ashe and the many women theologians whose prophetic voiceswill help bring about the spiritual transformation of our church. I lovedthis book; it gives me hope. ... Read more
