A fascinating look at the man who saved Nissan
Shift is the memoirs of Carlos Ghosn (rhymes with "phone"), who masterminded the turnaround of the failing Japanese automotive giant, Nissan Motor Company, back to profitability.
Good Read
Mr. Ghosn is no doubt a different type of manager, and the book does a good job of differentiating his strong skill areas.

Must-read for auto-enthusiasts
This autobiography by stellar auto executive Carlos Ghosn is part family history, part memoir and, it must be acknowledged, part corporate public relations exercise. Ghosn covers his international childhood, student days and working experience at Michelin and Renault, but the meat of the content concerns his remarkable achievements at Nissan. Ghosn's account of his work is clear and interesting, if somewhat superficial. He rarely offers original or striking insights. He tells readers what he did and sometimes why, but neither the "what" nor the "why" seem to break new ground. Ghosn may be a man of action unaccustomed to reflection, or he may be a private man who keeps his deeper conclusions to himself. We recommend his book to automotive industry readers, because it is a memoir of an industry leader. Others might enjoy the occasional memorable flash of insight - such as Ghosn's observations on Japan's traditional and somewhat illusory "consensus" approach to management, or his comment that Japanese business leaders do not know how to take the actions that circumstances demand. Ferrari Testarossa.
Fantastic book! Excellent reference for any FERRARI owner or enthusiast!

The book has a lot of good color pictures. It is short on text. It is a very good value. Just don't expect to learn too much about the technical aspects of the car.

Excellent quality photos of the last V-12 powered Ferraris.
This book offers 128 color pages of excellent up close pictures of the Ferrari Testarossa, and follows it from the design concepts to the chasis conception.It covers extensive specs and has many under/over/above shots of this classic Italian roadster.One page in particular shows a Testarossa up on a hoist illustrating the rear suspension, and one can clearly see that this particular Stallion has an oil leak!This just goes as testiment to the undoctored realism that this book offers.Don't let the price fool you, this one is great for the coffee table of a true "Ferrarimi" ... Fully Detailed ?
My nephew always wanted a coffeetable book on his favorite car the NSX, but couldn't find one. I got him this one and he's totally satisfied with it thinking at first it was just photos until he opened it and noticed how detailed it was. He's big on info and specs and says this book has it all from concept to production of every genation to the future of the NSX. He's a 'debater' type person and now has an informative official book to back-up his bragging debates about the NSX even though it'll be years before he can afford to own one. THAT'S WHY I GAVE IT 4 STARS BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY BOOK OR MY INTREST.

Super Car - Poor documentation
Being an NSX owner I was looking forward to a exteneded work about the development, design, factory construction process, testing, track related history and so on.What I really got was a rehash of factory brochures, press handouts, sales enhanced books with a history of Honda's rise from the ashes of WWII tossed in.This history can probably be easily found in other boods on the Honda product line.Few if any of the photograhs in the book have not been available via the many different handouts given by the dealer and American Honda.Little to nothing was shown of the manufacture of the car at it's unique facility and how certain problems were solved by their engineers and design staff.And even less is given about how the car is suported in the different racing venues throughout the world.It's strange and even sad that Japan's first major super exotic, the NSX, is given so little credit in the press, magazines, and publishers of books like this.It's even stranger that a well known author of automotive books, took the easy way out in trying to create a detailed work about the NSX with mainly press junket fluff.Not recommended for the serious car enthusiast among us. ... Learn in your car
This seems like a good set of CDs.The instructors speak very clearly and a book is provided with the same material in it so that one can see how the words are spelled.

Pretty useful vocabulary builder
I have been using this set of 3 discs for about 5 weeks and have now ordered levels 2 & 3. The first disc is real basic stuff that gets you started, the second disc has lists of various types of vocabulary, like common nouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, and prepostions, and it is really worth going over these time and time again so as to master both the vocabulary and the pronunciation of these basic word lists. At least once you have go the basic vocabulary down, you have something to build on, so it gets easier. Kind of boring...
I don't know what I expected from this CD... it's cool and it is a good learning tool. It's just so bland. All phrases are said in English, then twice in Spanish. And that's it. Very monotonous. I mean, it serves its purpose, though. I just wish it were more entertaining. Listening to the guy's voice can annoy you after a while (ever heard Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller's Day Off?)... then you'll turn it off... and how can you learn THAT way? ... Read more

Should be called "Learn German While Jogging"
I found the first set, "level one", of the Learn in Your Car German series to be an excellent refresher to basic German travel and shopping words.Years ago I had two years of German in my US high school, but I struggled with the language.I bought this first CD in order to relearn enough German to get around Germany and Switzerland, and ended up listening to the CD both on my 1-hour weekend commutes and while jogging (after ripping the CDs into mp3 format and adding them to my work out setlist).
Outdated
Don't buy this CD.I just bought it used for cheap but it still wasn't worth it because it is outdated with lessons on German Franks, etc.It also spends way too much time on individual words instead of basic conversations.I was looking for a CD that would prepare me enough for a two-week trip and these lessons are over the place. I felt there were too much train and train station phrases, they even had the phrase "I'd like a room with a bathroom," which I feel is highly unnecessary these days.I've tried Pimsleur's CDs and they were more practical.

Stop listening to radio commercials, start learning German!
I just bought and started this set yesterday, and it is *exactly* what I wanted. After reading numerous reviews of this set and the same series in other languages, I was convinced this was the way to go. My only regret is that I didn't buy the complete 3-level set. I can tell I am going to want to continue once I've mastered level 1.

A Gem of a Book
The title sums it up.Vivid color photos and good information
The Rolls-Royce Motor Car and the Bentley since 1931
It's good to see a new version of an old favorite. I have two of the earlier editions.My only real complaint about the coverage in the new volume is that it's too bad that more details on the new Rolls-Royce Phantom could not have been included.This is a very handy book for the Rolls-Royce enthusiast. The Police Rider's Handbook to Better Motorcycling
I wish car drivers to read books like this so to make the road use safer. Because 9 out of 10 road accidents involving a motorbike and a car, is the car which inisiate the accident, due to ignorance of road safety and the diferent beetwen two and four wheels.

Dry squared
Take the writing style of an unimaginative textbook, and combine it with the dry, stoic nature of quite a large percentage of the British.That's how exciting this book is.Just a little humor, no offense intended, this book is so bland it is difficult to read.More importantly, while it does have a number of good ideas and points to make, it really is very thin on useful, practical information.Unless you are a complete boob or know nothing about operating any vehicle on public roads, you probably will not gain any insight that will improve your riding.

Fair but not great
I prefer the lessons I learned in Nick Ienatsch's Sport Riding Techniques.The book is a basic road usage guide but provides no insight on difficult maneuvers that I was looking for.Be advised that the examples used assume left side driving that "colours" the advice but also hightens your awareness of what you are reading. ... Great Implementation Book
Kanban Made Simple is a great book to help in teaching people how to implement Kanbans.While many people conceptually understand Kanban, they do not understand all the elements that go into sizing the kanban and into the design of the kanban.This book addresses all these elements (sizing, type, visual management, rollout, and batch size reduction)in a step by step method.I recommend it to all my clients.

Book is well organized.Chapters 3 (Data Collection) and 4 (Sizing the Kanban)need more detail.Overall, the book does take you through the process.CD is a waste of time.All the files are in PDF format.If these were in Word or Excel, it would be much easier to use.

Highly Recommended!

Essential
This book is and essential companion to any parts manuals, service manuals, or "How to" manuals for a first class XKE restoration. It has been around for many years and has yet to be tagged with an error. A must-have for any XKE owner.

An excellent book for the restorer .
This book describes in detail the Series 2 and Series 3 E-type changes during production and lists serial number changes for the restorer who must know exactly the equipment on his/her vehicle.The black/white photographs are very detailed, and a handy reference.As always though, the exact serial number model of a specific change can be in doubt, so a good cross-reference guide on Series 3 is"Jaguar V-12 E-Type: A Guide to Authenticity" by Richard T. Russ with color photographs and details on the plating and color of various nuts, bolts, and equipment.The Restoration Guide, in my opinion, is an excellent companion to your sevice manual and parts catalogue. ... Dated material, marginal index
I can't bring myself to be as harsh as the one star reviewers, but they more or less have it.If your engine is 10 years old or newer, you might be disappointed.
Lack of Information - WHAT A RIP OFF!
The book, "Small Engine Repairs" was from 1992 and earlier.When I ordered the book, there was no information on the book to tell me what years the book covered.I paid $19.95 for the book and shipping.When I returned the book I was re-imbursed under $8.00, half of what I paid for the book.I needed a repair manual from 1995 to current.I will tell everyone I know what a rip off amazon.com is!I could understand paying for return shippment, but half for a book I could'nt use?I am very dissatisfied with your services.Brenda

Don't buy this book unless you're absolutely sure it will help you.The other reviewer had it right, go to the library, match your engine with those covered.If you have an older small engine this book may be of use, if your engine is newer than 1994, good luck.Many of the diagrams are small and compact, a magnifying glass helped. If looks can be deceiving, this book certainly characterizes that concept.Beneath its humble glossy cover (reminds me of a high school textbook) is everything you've EVER wanted to know about one of the best little targa-tops every created.This book includes a complete history of the X1/9, good (though limited) information on maintenance and repair, and lists of clubs and parts suppliers.It is thoroughly well-written and as far as I'm concerned, sets the standard for all the Fiat books out there.If you own, plan to own or even like to look at the Fiat/Bertone X1/9, you owe it to yourself to get this book! ... This book is well written and covers things in detail. However, it does NOT cover the VR6 (2.8L) engine.

Handy VW manual!
I've owned several different types of car manuals over the years, and although this is not the most technical, it has very useful information.I would say it is a MUST for anybody doing simple mechanic work like brake pads, fluid changes, etc.It even helps with more complex tasks like clutch plates and suspension work.For the price, I would definitely recommend it.Easy to read with LOTS of pictures. ... Does not cover 1995 production numbers
Big disappointment when I discovered the book didn't cover the production numbers for the 1995 models.More accurate title should be production models 1946-1994.Generic pictures in b/w; this book is not even worthy for the coffee table.How anyone would give this book 5 stars is beyond me.I'll be returning mine. This book IS NOT AS ADVERTISED.

For a book that is entirely based on giving you the specifications, thereare too many errors. Too many near identical pictures of cars of the sameseries.
