A decent memoir revolving around the restoration of a Porsche
What you've got here is a very readable account of the adventures (and misadventures) in the life of a mechanically-inclined, aging hippie who rebuilds a Porsche 911 in his barn in New York.The book splits its time pretty evenly between stories about rebuilding the car and stories about other parts of Wilkinson's life.
Wilkinson - A wild & crazy genius
The book is extraordinary, and probably will have Oprah and Larry King out in their garages trying to rebuild something, but much of the fun is discovering Stephan himself. I met him when he gave me a lift from Orlando to NYC in Flying Magazine's twin Cessna. A giant storm was moving in as we were cleared for takeoff; I assumed we would wait. Steve gunned it right into the worst of the turmoil. I think I passed out. Polite, erudite, marvelously funny, he has written a gem. Buy, read and enjoy it.

One of those books which youhope never ends

Excellent book for anyone restoring a Jaguar XK
Phillip Porter is a recognized expert on the Jaguar XK series. His book, suplemented by excellent photos, details each version of the car with text and photos. Good chronik.
It is offcial chronik of AUDI AG. If You a Audi fan buy it. It's precious book.

Interesting Book on the history of the company.
Really goes in depth on the history of the company from day one on a year-by-year basis. Very interesting read... great coffee book for any Audi Owner.

Master of The Four Rings
As the title indicates, this book focuses on the history of Audi. And what a history it is. I have read much poorer tries to explain the difficult amalgamation of The Four Rings than this one, actually the authors do avery good job in explaining the complex story. With an elegant twist theyhave separated the actual progress from the different car-models that havebeen released over the years, thus making history clearer.Read more

All around good book
This book cleared up a lot of things for me.The method of tuning of Hondas and Acuras was explained in great detail.It helped me get a good idea of what to do first.Also, it includes short features on some specific Honda and Acura tuners.Maybe the most helpful of all, however, was the features on the technical aspects of many not as well known modification parts. Now I know what the difference between driving, fog, and spot lights is. It also includes sections on performance wheels and tires, and how to build the perfect Civic.The book was a great overall look at Hondas and Acuras, without using too much over-tecnical lingo.You don't even have to own an Acura or Honda to enjoy it.I am fourteen years old and I loved it!I would reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in car modification.

Not good enough
I have an 1995 Integra GSR and it is probably the most modified car besides the Honda Civic. However, this book has more information for civics. It wouldn't bother me as much, except it tells how to make a civic into essentially, what a GSR is. For example, it shows how to install a short throw into a Honda. However the Integra already has a short throw. There are other mods too, but those are just common sense (Intake, headers, and exhaust, etc.) Another thing that I really don't like, is that it tells you how to make your car only good for drag racing. I would appreciate information telling how to make a good fast car that is also street legal. THis is an OK book for beginners and may be a better one for people who intend to race their car on the track only, but for me, its not worth it.

Great Starter Book for Tuners
I have a basic model Honda Civic hatchback and I wanted to start making modifications to it for racing applications, but I didn't know how to start.This book provides a great base for those without Honda tuning or modification knowledge and points them in the right direction.Although limited in technical aspect, the author makes up for it by providing good examples on how to get modification accomplished (go to a pro).I would have liked to see more road racing applications covered in the book rather than drag racing....A great compliment to other Honda tuning books! ... Very good audio set
For the price, this is much better than other ones out there, like Living Language and the CDs that went with some textbooks I've had, because it speaks the English AND the Japanese for each word/phrase being taught.You really can learn in your car.It has a good variety of lessons, lots of material (although there are a few strange items thrown in).I don't recommend the audio download since you don't get a booklet with the written phrases, and that would have been really helpful since sometimes it's hard to catch all the sounds.Also, I wouldn't want to lose even an ounce of clarity in the download quality.
Missing some required grammer.
In general I found these discs (Level 1 to 3) good for covering basic vocabulary whilst out of Japan. However, they never really get you further than a basic understanding because at no time are you taught sentence conjunctions or how to express running thoughts. These very important points are covered by courses such as Living Language Japanese (basic-intermediate and advanced) but probably put off the beginner who wants or needs instant results. Further, there are mistakes in the application of some grammar points which may become a burden if you decide to continue your studies to a higher level. Treat this course as a good way to get started, but then progress to something like the Living Language courses which provide a better understanding of the language - but don't be suprised when you find some point of grammer you spent so much time mastering in the 'In-your-car' series turns out to be over-simplified or just plain awkward in real speech and needs to be unlearned.

I'm a US citizen currently residing in Japan (US military). I've purchased several books and audio instructions to help me learn enough Japanese to get by while I'm here, and nothing has really helped until these CDs. Awesome and wonderful for the beginner! ... Read more

Great 1st Genation Z history
A must have for any Datsun 240z, 260Z, 280Z enthusiast. Great photos (many in color), and the in depth history is excellent. It includes a wide range of historic info including early history from predecessor cars, racing history, special modifications such as the Samari, differences of the various model years, and much more. If you are interested in the 1st generation Z cars, you will love this book. It is very well written, very readable, well organized, and very professionally done. I highly recommend it.

Great stories about a Great Car!
This little book was devoured in a couple of hours - couldn't put it down! It was chock full of interesting facts about the Z - some we'd all seen before but a bunch of new stuff as well. Great stories about the Z'scompetitive history (with very good photos). Tracing the car's designevolution from concept to 240Z thru the 280ZX was well documented andillustrated. Highly Recommended
This is quite a useful early-intermediate collection with some advances in vocabulary and verb tenses beyond the ordinary beginner's course. Buy something else!
I have been buying many different cd packages to learn Spanish.. and I have to say that most of them are ok.. this one is terrible.It is boring.It offers no memorization techniques.All it is is listen and repeat!The person that does the repeating doesn't even do it slowly. I'm a third of the way through Level 2 and am just starting to be able to construct/speak with useful sentences and understand very basic Spanish if they talk slow. My reading is much better. I do not enjoy a natural talent for languages - especially in listening comprehension. I have tried all sorts of media aids, including interactive CD ROMS and several tapes and books. First off I think it is neccesary to learn a language by engaging as many of the faculties of your mind as possible so I do not subsribe to this or any CD as the sole means of learning the language. Most people will need to do a lot of reading, memorization, listen to Spanish TV shows/movies, writing excercises and if they are lucky some interaction with Spanish speaking people. Find a good text book as the backbone of your studies. Also you will not learn the language in 30 days with this or any other aid - think in terms of months and years depending on how well you want to know the language. Probab!ly 6-12 months and 6 hours a week for a very basic but functional level of conversational skill. So I recommend a good book, something fun and not too academic - for example: Asi Es by Nancy Levy-Konesky, Karren Daggett (this also includes an audio CD - but it is completely inadequate.They have additonal audio available but it is difficult to find and is expensive - it was meant for school language labs).Read more

Good Information
This book has some very useful information and is very easy to understand. I thought that the extra equipment/gear lists were a bit long and for myself some is not realistic to carry. If the information in this book is combined with other publications a good list of gear to carry on a 4 wheel adventure could be developed. The additional resources listed in this book werealso very helpful. For new and experienced off-roaders this book is a useful tool.

Good introduction
This book is a basic introduction to driving off-road. If you don't know what a locker is, how it works or why you might want one for off-road use, you'll find the answers in this book. On the other hand, if you've decided to save money on a locker by welding the spider gears together in your garage, this is not the book for you. An excellent addition to any personal library
recently purchased a Jeep with the intention of doing more 4x4 off-road exploration in the upcoming months. In my search for information I stumbled upon Brad DeLong's 4-Wheel Freedom: The Art of Off-Road Driving. This book clearly and confidently spelled out all that I needed to know to begin my adventures in a safe (individually as well as environmentally), respectful and confident manner. I was so pleased to find the author's compassion and sound respect for the environment and how he simply challenges his readers to have the integrity to do the same. Read more

I have been looking for "The Cobra Ferrari Wars" for many years. I am thankful for libraries and interlibrary loans. Only about 4 libraries in the country have this book. The story of Carroll Shelby's quest for the World Championship is one of the best in U.S. racing history. The information about the GT cars of that era, such as the Ferrari 250, Aston Martin, and Cobra is outstanding. The stories of the development of the Cobra and Daytona Cobra, gave me a new insight into the creation of these great racing machines. These stories are told from the point of view of the people who where there. This is one of the many strengths of this book. Another great feature is the race-by-race summary of every race the cobras competed in from 1963 until the final race of the championship season of 1965. Each race is told in the words of the mechanics, drivers and team members who were there and played a vital role in the winning of the championship.
