Great Book! Food for daily thought and well worth your purchase
Vickie is amazing. Her story is amazing. She writes her book from the other side of accomplishment of fears, heartbreak, dissappointment, etc. There are great ideas to take with you on your journey of success and you should bring your highlighter so you can refer back to some great words of encouragement along your way. I have thouroughly enjoyed this book and I plan to share it with my women friends. We all can use a little push.

Easy to read and follow the thought process.
Milazzo explains how passion emerges and evolves and gives excellent real-life examples of women who became successful by using ideas in this book. This book is filled with excellent advice gained from experience. As Vickie says, she doesn't need a blow dryer to ride a camel and sleep in the Sahara desert. You have to love a woman who is beyond adventurous, has conquered fear and is willing to share her life and wisdom with the world. There is great advice about how to avoid distractions and a wise approach to developing daily rituals to nurture our spirits. Successful women respect the complexity of any chosen path and become students for life.The book is easy to read and follow the thought process.

I have known of Vickie for several years since I had worked as a legal nurse consultant myself.For a variety of reasons, my heart just wasn't into it.I was good at it, but just didn't want to deal with the egos and power plays of attorneys.I wasn't "passionate" about legal nurse consulting.

Excellent book!
This book is highly readable and the analysis is very good.The only reason people would be reacting so negatively is if they have an investment in perpetuating racism. If you do not, then you will appreciate this book and its contribution to helping us understand the dynamics of privilege and how we can unconsciously fuel racism.The first step to changing something is understanding it.Nothing is helped by sticking your head in the sand and denying a problem exists.I encourage everyone who cares about ending the racist (and sexist and classist) power structure in our society to read this book.

Read for Class
This book was a pretty good source of article information for a class I took.If you are looking for something that helps open the mind regarding what "white" means in race/status this is the book for you.

A white activist who's tired of white guilt
It wasn't long ago that I was a very active and outspoken advocate of social change, an activist if you will. I marched on the WTO convention in Seattle and have joined numerous activist groups in protesting the ills of American society, the economy and our awful "President" Bush and his senseless wars on Afghanistan and Iraq. I would like to see a reformed America where people are truly equal. One thing I was fond of taking a stance against was racism, or at least, what I thought was racism.

Excellent application of the MBTI to relationship dynamics
Despite its somewhat maudlin title and front cover, this book is very interesting. It based on Jungian MBTI theory which in my view is a very powerful tool for understanding people's personality. The book itself is not theoretical: it gives a brief description of the 16 types and then there is a couple of pages for each of the 136 possible combinations. Much has been printed about the MBTI, but this one has a very interesting practical approach. For each combination, you find a paragraph on the strengths, a paragraph on the weaknesses, and a short list of key recommendations for each partner. Even if you know everything about Jungian psychology you can still discover some new insights on personality relationships. For the anecdote, my INTJ recommendation list (with my ESFJ wife) is a pretty goood summary of everything I do wrong at home !

Solid Advice on All Types of Women Shoppers
This book provides a thorough analysis of women shoppers, including those of all ethnic, age, geographic, educational, and socio-economic groups and marital statuses. It gives solid, workable advice on how to attract today's saavy, busy, informed, educated, female customers. It also tells how to help others in the company to overcome outdated, stereotypical thinking about female consumers. I may use this book along with Why We Buy as a text in my visual merchandising course.

Delightful language
Don't Think Pink is indeed insightful as well as approachable in style.I myself gained a deeper appreciation for corporate lingo, a small selection of words which many people will say has been drained of real meaning.Leverage, actionable, synergies, proactive, relatable, networking, and resonate are all words deserving of more attention, especially from people like me who are not primarily interested in marketing.I did note that it took until page 199 for the authors to actually use "paradigm shift," and I was titillated thoroughly when I read it."Empower" and its variants were used almost once every page, and this book will indeed empower not only you as a marketer, but the women you will inveigle, in whatever roles they fill.
Insightful !
Women are the most powerful consumer force in the U.S., but they do not approach buying decisions the way men do. That's intriguing, but it doesn't mean that exhaustive demographic and sales statistics make interesting reading. Authors and marketing consultants Lisa Johnson and Andrea Learned explain how to direct your marketing efforts to women. Each chapter deals with a different subset of women - old, young, black, white, Hispanic, married, single - but the groups are compared along similar lines and the information is sliced the same way in most chapters. The authors liven up their exposition with short illustrative case studies, but the cases often feature products for which marketers have made no concerted, specific effort to attract female buyers. For instance, the decision to sell single servings of food occurred because of other demographics (more people living alone) and was not intended just to attract women buyers. Still, the thesis here is important enough to carry the authors' occasional tendency to twist product features to fit the theme, as well as their branding jargon. Major Disagreements
While I realize that many readers enjoy approaching a topic through the author's personal experiences, people like myself will find much of this book self indulgent.
Great informative book with heart and facts about adopting in China.
This book is very easy to read if you are thinking of adopting or are adopting from China.It is full of information on chinese culture, the adoption process, and what may happen after you get back home.Some parts brought tears to my eyes, but I am a bit sappy.I would recommend this book to people adopting, thinking of adopting from China, or those who have already adopted.It really gives a lot of information on Chinese history and why so many little baby girls are abandoned shortly after birth.My heart goes out to all the lost daughters and I hope they are all given the chance to find a forever family.

Five Stars
A wonderful book about extraordinary real women who deserve their own spot along side the Founding Fathers. The bravery and the guts of these women surprised me. Each one was heroic in her own way and has made me want to learn more about each one.

History Comes Alive ...
This is a very fascinating book and I am glad that I was able to buy it not too long ago. I remember reading the back of the book at the bookstore and thinking, "I have to have it." That first thought hasn't changed.
LOW-KEYED, INFORMATIVE AND PLEASING READ
I rather enjoyed this low-keyed take on history.The reading was easy and it was fun and I did indeed learn some facts I was unaware of.This by no means is "hard core history" and I doubt if it was ment to be.The book of course take a look a the wives of some of our founding fathers and the role they played at the time.The book appears to be reasonably researched, as any book of the nature can be, and the author uses an easy and informative style.On the otherhand, I doubt if this work will satisfy the hard core reader of history any more than it will satisfy the reader who is wanting a cozy sort of read...it sort of falls in the middle somewhere.I read it for pleasure and did receive that from it.Recommend this one. ... Story of Ruth
Jam packed with wisdom and insight for all people. A must read for all women and one that you will read many times. Sure wish I had this guide when I was a young woman. Plan to use as a discussion book for a spirituality group. A fabulous book to give as a gift.

Motivation for coping with the daily grind of life
I read "The Story of Ruth" about a year after I read "Scarred by Struggle," which is also by Dr.Chittister. Both books offer inspriation for dealing with difficulties based on a biblical story. The difference between the type of advice they offer, is that "The Story of Ruth," contends more with the daily struggles that confront us in our lives, whereas "Scarred by Struggle" offers advice more suitable to a particular setback, such as an end of a relationship, or loss of job.

Great Book with women as they should be seen. But you've got to be mature enogh to appreciate it and for the guys looking for cheap porn and not art recommend you just skip this! But if you want to see women without makeup or any fancy hair style this is a definite recommendation to add your collection.

beautiful!! and full of life
I normally don't like to write these reviews, I feel art and music are such subjective experiences, you really need to check it out for yourself. But I had to say that this was a very beautiful book. Its an intimate view into a world, most of us men rarely get to be a part of, especially living in such a fast paced world. Veronique Vial captures these passing moments, tip toeing her way through the homes of some well known and before-they-were-famous woman. All the more reason to appreciate this book. Being a photographer, I can also appreciate the clean straight forward layout, that really shows off her great work. Her previous Men Before Ten am, I found too dark and over designed. Its hard to compare the two, because of the subject, but the printing on Women is superior and it has brighter and livelier feel. Her photographs really capture the moment, which is what great photography is all about.Read more

Return of the Native
I am an educator at a school that separates the genders beginning at the 4th grade level.I have always know instinctively that girls and boys learn differently, and I strongly believe after working at this school for over 3 years that it is the way education should be.Many years ago these kinds of schools were common, but for whatever reason we have gotten away from that structure.The book points out many important biological difference that explains a lot to me about why both genders act the way they do in the classroom.

Karrine Steffans Sees The Light
in that the whole industry exploits vulnerable women of color such as Karrine Steffans.I know some would say that they participated voluntarily but I hear stories such as Ms. Steffans regarding music industry's exploitation and abuse of women who starred in rap videos.The whole hip hop video scene has come under fire recently by all sectors of society for its sexual and violent content.
Lacking something
Karrine's story was gripping, but there was emotion missing. I felt like she was just sitting back, giving a list of things that happened and not really grasping the effects of them. Regardless, I think she is a strong woman and I admire her willingness to say, "ENOUGH!" and get her stuff together.

An Entertaining Read
I really liked reading this book. I finished it in one day. At first I felt bad for. Then, as I read more, I thought she was stupid and by the end of the book I questioned whether she learned anything at all. I mean, yes she knows her mistakes, but I dont think she has learned from them. Overall, I think this book was a great read. dumping the baby with the bath water
Mahmood has a pleasant, easy-going style, which makes for good reading.She makes every effort in her ethnographic work to put herself into the place of the women of the mosque movement.She seems to look at the situation from the presupposition that people are purely products of their circumstances, which precludes much in the way of personal choice.I prefer to believe we do have choice.While I respect the choice these women have made, I think it would be a mistatke to assume that there's no coersion or oppression in their lives.That is, it's fine to accept the choices people make, but oppression is still oppression.Yes, let's see things as much as we are able from the subject's point of view, but lets not pretend oppression and subjugation aren't still oppression and sujugation.

I went about my life wondering why men had such power over my life and emotions, despite the fact that I have many accomplishments under my belt and am a smart career woman.
It's never to late
After reading this book my first thought was, Where was this book years ago when i really needed it? perhaps it's never too late to dissolve self destructive patterns. My father was killed when i was young setting the course for a lifetime of bad choices. My destructive behavior began in college whentook up cohabitation with an older man looking for that father figure.
