Great Racing Book
It's a really great racing book, it covers the basics of race driving, and many of the techniques that are needed in racing, specially the Cornering Technique, which I need most, and it shows many examples of turns and their techniques.
Speed Secrets
This is an excellent introduction to the skills necessary for driving on a race track, whether as an aspiring race driver or for the recreational lapping day or driver school participant. Bentley's writing style is clear and easy to understand, without in any way dumbing down the content.
Buy this book, then go racing!

General information in a poor quality print.
Having bought the Pontiac Firebird guide a few months earlier, I had high expectations on this book. I got it hoping it wouls help me with my Pathfinder. From the beggining I knew this book was meant for the US and Canada versions of the car. My car version is the Japanese.
Good information poorly printed
The information in the book is difficult to read because of the poor printing and cheap paper.Data tables are almost unreadable and the B&W pictures are fuzzy.The Haynes publication has all the same information pinted clearly with good pictures.

Useless book for me
I bought this book and promptly returned it after it did nothing to help me troubleshoot 2 different electrical problems.It provides partial wiring diagrams but does not give the specs on the various sending units so you can hook up a multitester and see whether or not they work.Read more

The comprehensive guide to custom interiors.
A colour guide to customizing the interior of any vehicle.This book is a step by step guide(and in colour)from designing to completing your interior.Even though the book shows various hot rods the techniques apply to any vehicle.This is a comprehensive guide and is great value for the money.This should be your first book on customising interiors.There are plenty of books that cover other areas of car restoration to add to your collection.
Probably the best automotive book I have ever read!
Yes, the best, bar none.If you're a veteran like me, there were probably guys in your crowd who could do engines, trannys, paint/bodywork, even a little electrical.But nobody, NOBODY had a clue on how to do the interior.This book reveals the secrets and the inside tips step by step, easy to follow, and yet, not tedious.Quite the contrary, it is an enjoyable read full of discovery.Even if you only have basic skills like cutting plywood with a saber saw, you can probably put together a great interior for your car armed only with patience and this book.And that goes for new cars too- the techniques are totally up to date.The fact that they are illustrated on hot rods doesn't mean they won't work on the latest models.You just have to be thoughtful and creative, and anything is possible.Most Highly Recommended.

This book took a lot of the mystery out of building custom interiors for me (a beginner). It covers a broad range of things, from building seats and door panels to headliners. Check out the table of contents. The authors obviously work mostly on hot rods but you can apply this knowledge to building interiors for newer cars. It doesn't go into extreme detail, (it wouldn't really be feasible to do so!) but it delivers on it's promise. Automotive Upholstery
This book told me everything I need to know in regards to making
Excellent informative book
This book is great for getting started in the basics of Auto Upholstery.It explains the very basics, the tools needed, terms of the trade, and even gives you a project to try out your skills and tools.It is plainly written so is easy to understand.The only things I did not like were the black and white pictures and that the book only really dealt with working with vinyl, and it has many sections on replacing vinyl tops on cars and convertables when I was hoping for more basic projects like normal car seats that are out of fabric instead of vinyl.One plus is it does have a section on boats seats and motorcycle seats.Overall, it is a good book to have especially to get started with.

It's a Relic but It's Still Relevant
This book really needs an update - and I understand that this has been promised many times, but never quite happened. However, enjoy the various useful little tit-bits on performance, the shots and captions of Old School VW racing, and some sensible diagrams and shots of hardware. It doesn't take much to pick up your EMPI or BugPack catalogue and see what's really new, anyway. Is anyone out there willing to grab this text and bring it forward to the 21st Century? Verry Poor Manual
They tried to cover too much in too little space. Very limited electrical schematics and poor descriptions. Sorry I bought it and am looking for another one.

There are better options
Yes, this book does cover a models, and for that I give it two stars.However, many times I felt like I was doing something wrong. The book can too short sometimes, leaving the reader wondering what to do next.
Mixed bag
Frankly, I haven't been all that impressed with any of the repair manual's issued for Volvo. All third-party manuals tend to be vague and overly broad; Chilton's is particularly poorly focused, unnecessarily ambitious in model year breadth and maddening incomplete in coverage. I cannot reccomend this manual as a sole source for the enterprising shade tree mechanic. Yet, there are times when I find it as an essential compliment to the Haynes manual. Haynes is published out of England, and tends to ignore features specific to US model cars (FI troubleshooting is a weakness of the Haynes; Chilton's manual covers this area at an acceptible level. ... Another comprehensive guide!
This is a great book.A comprehensive guide on how to customize your auto interior.This book guides you through the planning,choosing materials,advice,a step by step guide(the green pages section)to reupholstering a bucket seat,door panels and much more.These "Motorbooks Workshop" series of books are the best books as they are detailed and in shown with colour photos throughout.Even though the book shows various hot rods the book is about customizing any vehicle interior.Its Great value.

I really like these Motorbook workshop series.These guys are taking automobile how-to books to a new level.This one is really good and ranks up there with those written by Don Taylor on upholstery/interior subject matter.I found this and his books make a strong basis for doing upholstery for the do-it yourselfer.I needed these books for my airplane, but the process is pretty much the same for an auto and these are really the only things out there.

This book is, in my opinion, invaluable for the owner of the Porsche 911 3,2 Carrera.
Good but could be better
I've been waiting for this manual for a long time.Bentley's excellent VW manuals have been very high on the quality list for quite some time so I was excited to get this manual.Overall it is a great and is a must for the DIY mechanic who needs to know more about their car and can't afford the factory workshop manuals and I think that for the majority of individuals who won't be dropping engines and trannies this will sufice.My gripes are small.No detail on a lot of misc body stuff.The transmission section mentions both the 915 and later G50 transmissions but only shows how to dismantle and repair the 915.Heater and ventilation information is sparse (as always) at best. Not enough detail
This sure beats the orange covered "other" service manual and the $900 factory service manual in price. There are a lot of missing details like where to charge the A/C, rebuilding your Targa top (intricate locking mechanism details missing). Yes it shows breakdown of parts diagrams but some diagrams lack supporting text. This book is BIG and it is well worth the...you spend. A nice thing I read in the beginning was a disclaimer stating that it may have errors or lack of info but the publisher is more than open to accept any ammendments from it's readers and that they were meticulous about providing the MOST ACCURATE data they could find. This is why you SHOULD HAVE this book because WE the people can make it better! It IS a "must-have" book if you are serious about maintaining your own 84-89 911 Carrera. ... Read more

The best pick amongst similar books
As I strive to gather as much practical information on Hondas and Acuras, I've purchased several books on the subject. Engine and Driveline Handbook (editors of SCC), Honda/Acura Performance (editors of SCC), Honda/Acura Performance Handbook 2nd edition (Mike Ancas), and of course Honda/Acura Engine Performance by Mike Kojima (whom happens to be an editor of SCC). Rating Mike Kojimas book was a tough choice between three and four stars but I'll get one thing out of the way first. It is the best value out of all of the books I've mentioned. Engine and Driveline Handbook is a compilation of SCC articles with color photos and has great general information and is thoroughly enjoyable to read. Honda/Acura Performance is another compilation but with black/white photos, is poorly written, and lacks useful technical information. The book by Mike Ancas (2nd edition) is wellwritten, fun to read, has great color photos, and contains plenty of useful information. However it doesn't have any detailed info on tuning but rather it is more of a tip book telling you things like most intakes don't actually increase power so be careful with what you spend your money on. Finally there is Mike Kojimas book. Despite a lot of typos it is enjoyable to read but most importantly it has a wealth of detailed information ranging between a great explanation of how headers are tuned to use reflected sound waves to scavenge the exhaust and telling you what combinations of Honda factory parts will get you more performance while saving money on aftermarket parts. The downside to this book is that it is not a completely original book. Half of the chapters are SCC articles found in the Engine and Driveline book that have simply been added to with some more information. As for the other half of the chapters, it was my first time reading them but I wonder if they too have already been written somewhere else. But in the end if you have yet to pick up any of these books then I strongly recommend Honda/Acura Engine Performance by Mike Kojima for a wealth of info crammed into an enjoyable and short read at a good price.

As soon as I started reading this book i could not stop.The detail of how my motor actually works amazes me. I am excited to learn about the many possibilities of making my car a "rocket".

Good collection of articles
This is a pretty good collection of articles from a magazine I absolutely love (JP) and hold a subscription to.It is much more convenient than trying to keep all the back issues in some sort of order.The only complaint I have is that my '79 CJ-7 is not represented more in the book, but they seem to have gone for the "widely applicable" idea of representing all of the different Jeep models about evenly.I could have gone for a collection of only the CJ articles! ... the v12 engine
Finally, a book that lives up to it's advertising. Every page is interesting in this voluminous 600 page masterwork. No long boring company histories and endless pictures of people here. Ludvigsen stays on subject with clear modern pictures and expert analysis from makers and users of such engines. There is not one weak point in the whole thing, I feel I got much more than I paid for with this great book.

The perfect book for those of us who should get out more.
A truly excellent work for those enchanted by the fine detail of technology. A myriad of fine drawings and half tones backed up by colour plates of the V12's birth and development through the century. Karl's fluid and emminently readable style maintains interest with pithy anecdotes like Henry Ford's reason for sticking with 4 cylinders rather than 6: "A car should have no more cylinders than a cow has teats". From 1.5 litres to 27 litres the V12 story is always absorbing.

The author is British plain and simple, and it show with whimsical sayings like 'monkey motion' and the like. Outstanding historical documentation, but the author overwhelms with minutiae like bore and stroke for every engine, and which cylinder bank is staggered forward.

Outstanding, A Must-Have for Any New Driver
Driving physics and psychology are a passion of mine because many motorists out there simply don't know what they are doing. Finally, someone has both the writing ability AND the driving skill to tell new drivers so much of what I wish I could.My problem is that, as a driver of 28+ years, I don't like speed limits.Mr. Smith has given me, a veteran driver and one who thought he knew everything about driving, dozens of reasons outlined in 'Crashproof Your Kids' to slow down more often.I ameven working on a driving book of my own.Tim's expertise is clearly evident in the almost 300 pages of this excellent non-fiction work--way better than the mushy and drippy psycho-babble road rage books of the late 1990's.Tim, I want to party with you, brother.You really know your stuff.

The information in this book was very helpful to me and my son as he approached his driver liscencing exam. Tim's book is an excellent book written with the express view of keeping your child alive for longer. Remember, driving is the most common reason for under 25 year old deaths.

Cool, but a little bit extreme...
If you like custom painting, you'll find several -other- nice books about the theme. This is not the only I've got about car painting and custom painting, but in fact, is not the one I like the most...

A very good book!
I've never airbrushed before I got this book, but I feel like I have a head-start after reading it. It explains things very well, like the may types of automotive paint, and demonstrates the use of stencils and freehand sheilds. He even has a computer that he can make designs with! I always thought everything was done freehand. He also explains and demonstrates how to highlight and very effective use of shading and shadows. He even shows how to do a carbon fiber effect. Great Book on a GREAT car
The book has a lot of info.I may be 12 and a girl but I LOVE Mustangs.I can refer to my book to get info on a 69 429 Boss.But I wish it had the original list price!The pictures are great! This was a gift for my boyfriend--a Mustang owner and lover! He loves it! It's very informative, has great pictures, and information on the history of the Mustang. The book tries to cover too much with little detail.The information on my 40 HP Outboard did not match the electrical or fuel system. Pay the extra money and get the service manual for your Outboard.
