Really good for those interested in assisted living needs
I needed information on how to finance, build and market senior housing.The information in this book on elderly and handicapped housing needs is really helpful to me.This is well done, and those of us not part of the industry can understand it.

An essential part of your long-term care management library.
Pearce has done an excellent job of writing a sentinel primer for managing long-term care communities.The details are all there.Of even greater importance, the details are presented within the context of critical principles that distinguish the excellent community from the average or mediocre.As a faculty member responsible for a number of long-term care management courses at two schools of public health, this is one of a very limited number of texts that I assign as "must reads" for my students.

A Detailed and Complete Guide on Senior Living Communities
I truly enjoyed "Senior Living Communities: Operations Management and Marketing for Assisted Living, Congregate, and Continuing Care Retirement Communities".It answered most of the questions that I had on developing a community for senior living. I feel a social calling to provide for the housing and care needs of the elderly. The Senior Care track was adopted as a part of the Masters of Real Estate degree that I am enrolled in. This book was used in one of my classes. What a blessing!As I began to read this book, I realized that most of the "concise details" in developing a community are all in there.I am so amazed to see such valuable information each time I turn the page. The author has addressed the obvious and the important things that often are forgotten. This book is like the bible of developing successful senior living communities. Aging Well is helpful
The most useful information I found was the four areas listed for seniors to follow in later life.The recommendations were based on several comprehensive studies which followed people throughout their lifetimes.I did find it odd that in the beginning the author completely overlooked work done by Abraham Maslow many years ago, and instead insisted that he (the author) had been the first to study healthy people.This, however, was a small thing overall and didn't take away from the relevance of the information.

A helpful reference for teachers and families
This book provides helpful insight into the mental disorders that afflict many elderly people. This can be useful to both educators and family members who are concerned about mental illness affecting the elderly. Teachers and professors can use this to help prepare family studies and human development students for problems that they may encounter in their work. Furthmore, families that are dealing with aging parents or loved ones can use this book to help understand what is going on and how to deal with them in a caring way. This book provides excellent case examples and analysis and I would reccomend it to anyone with an interest or connection in the field.

Great Insights, Great Research, Great Read
I read this book over the course of several flights while traveling and I thoroughly enjoyed it. As a cartoonist who likes cupcakes and wearing superhero t-shirts, there should be no surprise why the book peaked my interest. But I was delighted to find that the book was neither an unstructured permission slip for irresponsible behavior, nor a "Harrumphing Codger" treatise on abolishing all forms of fun from life. Rather, it was a well-organized, even-handed, thoughtful and interesting approach on the phenomenon itself. I enjoyed the historical research, and although sometimes overly thourough, offered a lot of interesting background for the rest of the book. I also enjoyed the profiles of the people throughout the book. At times I found myself mentally cheering them on, while with others, I tended to react to with frustration (and sometimes even disgust). So ultimately, the book connected with me on an emotional level, and it made me think. Something all good books do.

A very illuminating read that made me go searching for my old Matter Electronic Football II
I LOVED this book. It's been highly useful to me as a marketer who's always seeking to learn more about the human condition (If you're a marketer, or anyone who's in any way involved in the sale of stuff to other human beings, you've got to read this book!). Even if you're just someone who is fascinated by the human condition for the purpose of self-growth and understanding, there's lots here to learn.
Intriguing But Flawed
I found the subject of this book to be intriging and I looked forward to learning more about rejuveniles.The book was thought provoking until I read the chapter on Walt Disney.In my opinion, the author chose to present Walt Disney in an unflattering light and to perpetuate myths, gossip, and inaccuracies.That chapter tainted the book for me. ... Fifty Fabulous Fiftyish Females Feel Fifty
I love this book! I found a great gift for Mother's day!!
I was looking for something for my beautiful wife's 50th BDay. She was very nervous about this particular passage for reasons that I thought were silly. Group Work with Elders
I would highly rocommend this book for those who work with people in nursing or retirement homes.I found this book very helpful in getting older adults to express their feelings and share stories from their pasts.
