Okay for general information. Covers too many years for details about any one model or year.

Standard Catalog of Chrysler, 1914-2000
A great resource with almost TOO much info to devote alot of print to each car. Lists production numbers, and brings back alot of memories. For having so many models, the book does quite well. Also, nice histories of each Chrysler brand, incl DeSoto, Eagle, and Imperial.Lots of pictures of just about every car listed.

Very nice book! If you own or planning to own, you may not miss it!!

Wow!This book is the X1/9 Bible!
If looks can be deceiving, this book certainly characterizes that concept.Beneath its humble glossy cover (reminds me of a high school textbook) is everything you've EVER wanted to know about one of the best little targa-tops every created.This book includes a complete history of the X1/9, good (though limited) information on maintenance and repair, and lists of clubs and parts suppliers.It is thoroughly well-written and as far as I'm concerned, sets the standard for all the Fiat books out there.If you own, plan to own or even like to look at the Fiat/Bertone X1/9, you owe it to yourself to get this book! ... An ideal guide to American Muscle cars.
This is a big book.Its mostly color photos throughout.Each car has 1 page devoted to it,1 color photo (sometimes 2 photos)and plenty of information.Its a great book.

This book really rocks! They've got A TON of cars in here, great photos, cool writing by John Gunnell. I really like his writing style. Lots of cool information and period reviews of the coolest cars Detroit ever produced.

A very nice guide
I purchased this book for my grandson to use. Had a chance to scan through it prior to giving it to him. It is fairly easy to use, although there are some models not put in the order you would think they should be listed in. Though not intended to be a full history publication, it is an item to quickly look up a model and find the differences specific to that year. Production numbers listed for most models. A very handy "guide" for those who have interest in old vehicles. A must have for the novice and expert alike. ... Read more

BEST NEW FERRARI BOOK!
This is a unique book.Excellent is the only word that comes to mind.I particularly like how the photos illustrate the people and the surroundings for each race venue.They are much more evocative than the usual grainy images of cars on the track.You can not go wrong with this one. ... Read more

A nice addition to a Packard book collection...
....The Kimes book is THE authoritative source on the Packard, the James Ward book covers the sad demise of the Company...and this book nicely illustrates some of the surviving examples, from #1, thru the end.Not offering any history of the Company, it is nonetheless beautifully illustrated and very effective at capturing the grace, elegance, and timelessness of the marque, while also adding some interesting (if largely irrelevant) historical anecdotes of each car and it's particular history.A nice companion piece!

Ask the Man who Owns a Lot of Packard Books
This is an interesting book, but not for one who's looking for a detailed background on the Packard Motor Company.What the author has done is highlight some extant Packards and that car's history. The pictures are excellent, the brief backgrounds concise and informative.

FINE CONTENT MARRED BY FAINT, SMALL PRINT
This is a nice "coffee table" book about their recent exhibit. As a rider since '59, I couldn't wait to get into the text, which is divided by time periods. Essential reading for enthusiasts
Museums, exhibits and the books devolving from them only hint at the mysteries they purport to show but rarely reveal. This is particularly true of exhibits of things that move, whether airplanes, cars and motorcycles on one hand, or people on the other. Once mummified via restoration and encapsulated in historical review, these lively subjects lose their kinesthetic value and become dessicated. A Can't Go Wrong Gift
This book contains a good overview of motorcycling history, but its claims to fame are the wonderful photography and the high production values with which it was printed.It is a wonder to think that the photos are of bikes that actually exist today.Read more

Comprehensive, BUT...........................
Better illustrated than the previous two editions, but there are a remarkable number of errors in the picture captions pertaining to year and model descriptions. Anyone using this as a "last word" reference had better look elsewhere.

Before the SUV...
Amazing document about a time in American history when there were only 150 miles of paved roads in the entire country. In 1903, an adenturous 31 year old Doctor from Vermont, now retired and living happily with his weathy young wife (on her funds), decided he'd attempt to be the first to man cross the continent via the latest technological gadget: the automobile.Being a non-mechanic, he hired an equally spirited 21 year old former bicycle racer who had been working as a mechanic in a gasoline-engine factory in California to accompany him.Most roads were little more than muddy wagon paths, and when those stopped the travellers could only follow along railroad tracks or trust in their sense of direction as they set out across the vast plains and desert.Nevertheless, they made the trek successfully.Equally amazing, his beloved wife condoned his folly and waited anxiously at home. They wrote letters to each other regularly, and these (preserved) letters were the author's primary source of information about his daily successes and frustrations along his cross-country 'expedition'.This book, a companion to the PBS documentary film (available on DVD) is filled with rare vintage photos.Few would attempt such a journey today, even with modern GPS equipped 4x4 vehicles, and the book and DVD are both splendid inspirations for anyone who loves to share in the triumphs of those few individuals who would fearlessly challenge what has never been done simply because they believe they can succeed.I only wish there had been more more detailed excerpts from the original correspondences included in this book.Still, a splendid addition to your library... and your education!

not the narrative from the PBS show
I had it in my head that this was going to be the audio from the wonderful PBS show but I was mistaken. It is a reading of the book. I should've looked more closely. The story, however, is wonderful. The voices from the narrative on the PBS show were more engaging and lively that those on this CD but the story remains just as good.

Brief but fun
This is a brief account of the first cross country automobile trip, sprinkled with photographs taken by the "automobilist" as he traversed the nation's dirt roads just after the turn of the last century. Horation Nelson Jackson bet someone $50 in a club in San Francisco that he could cross the country in an automobile he had just bought, and do it in less than 90 days. He spent over $8,000 winning his bet (though he never collected the money).

Buy the book, and you'll end up buying the car
I read the book since I had interest in a sports car.As soon as I put it down, I had the Viper Fever.I bought one the next day.Great book with some good background and pictures.

nice, but not for 2.8L VR6
This book is well written and covers things in detail. However, it does NOT cover the VR6 (2.8L) engine.

Handy VW manual!
I've owned several different types of car manuals over the years, and although this is not the most technical, it has very useful information.I would say it is a MUST for anybody doing simple mechanic work like brake pads, fluid changes, etc.It even helps with more complex tasks like clutch plates and suspension work.For the price, I would definitely recommend it.Easy to read with LOTS of pictures. ... A big help to Alfie fans
If you are a serious collector, like I am, this book adds to the mystique of the Alfie fire truck, series 700 and 800. Most of the pics are in black and white. It's a very definitive collection of pics with little text. I drove a series 800 alfie as a volunteer fireman and those times will always be treasured by me. In that respect, I think this author should have gone farther, added the all important series 900, and inserted text explaining about the alfie company and it's importance in American History.
