5-0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Book From The "Iconoclast"
For years, Ken Brownlee's down-to-earth and straight forward style has provided both humor and wisdom to the insurance industry in "The Iconoclast," his regular monthly column in Claims Magazine, published by The National Underwriter Company. In Winning by the Rules: Ethics and Success in the Insurance Profession he provides an comprehensive discourse on how to "play by the rules" in insurance. This book should be required reading for all insurance personnel in today's business world. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Insurance Companys are Thugs
They will use your ignorance to take advantage of you. You can't trust them. If your insurance company thinks they can get away with it (cutting corners to save money), they will try it. Avoid being a victim to the people you have paid to protect you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Obviously Misled
As an insurance agent with a very reputable company, I take offense to the writers' comments and attacks on the entire insurance industry.Believe it or not, there are still salesmen in the world today who are not just trying to make the next buck.I strive to provide the type of service that each and every policy holder desires and to look out for their best interests at every given opportunity.I have never sent an insured to a lower quality repair service to save the company a dollar.I tell everyone who takes the time to ask exactly what I would do in their given situation. The bottom line is this:Insurance salesmen are like every other type of salesmen in the world...Not all of them are trustworthy and reputable, but you can't stereotype all of them because of the actions of one.

5-0 out of 5 stars The knowledge I got saved me $2,300 when I had an accident.
I never thought I'd read any book about "insurance" - but this one is a page-turner. It gave me instant insight and confidence to manage an ugly situation and come out ok. Before this, I had no idea of whatreally goes on when your car is repaired and how awful it is to get aninsurance company to do the right thing (especially when it came to safetyissues!) The book is now my "bible" - and I give it to everyone Iknow who buys a new car! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars this is a message to the web master
the reviews listed for this book are not correct

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost made me
want to go out and get in a fender-bender myself. We've all seen the famous Driver's Ed movies about the deadly physical and emotional consequences of auto accidents, but rarely has there been such in-depth treatment of the risk management and allocation consequences.I've read many books on insurance (and even reinsurance), but with the exception of Ostrager and Vyskocil's work, none have kept me turning the pages like Phillips and Chippendale.Look for more brilliance from this duo; the Simon and Garfunkel of the no-fault insurance literary community.

5-0 out of 5 stars No-fault? It's your own dam fault if you don't buy this book
While I have long followed the work of Jerry J. Phillips, it is more than obvious to the intelligentsia that Stephen Chippendale is the powerhouse in this dynamic duo.Chippendale takes the reader on a tour de force fandango adventure in the no-fault world, it really is quite first rate.He might be a younger attorney, but that is not about to intimidate that bad boy ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A great idea that eliminates uninsured motorists
Tobias is a thoughtful and intellegent analyst who lays out an excellent program that would stop punishing responsible motorists. I have read his invetment guide books and many of his magazine articles as well, and I consider him a consumer advocate of the highest order.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!
This book taught me nothing... the reviews suggest it offers some useful insight into dealing with insurers, but it never delivers! If you are diligent enough to be concerned about your insurance in the first place, you are most likely already aware/capable of ALL the tips offered in this book. One particularly irritating aspect of the book is that it dangles a carrot of REAL information (ratings of some insurance companies), but then directs you to the author's website to get it (where you can only get the information for a fee)!!! What's the point of buying this book, then?! Here's a BIG TIP, folks - insurance companies make money on the insured, so BE CAREFUL in dealing with them (and don't waste time with this book{is it a book, or a ad for the author's website?}).

5-0 out of 5 stars The real Piece of Mind
This book explains the real deal on how to deal with a collision from the insurance company to the body shop, repaired or total loss.No smoking mirrors here.5-0 out of 5 stars Read it - before you learn the hard way
I heard the author, Ron Alford, on a radio interview - AFTER I had an accident. If I'd read this BEFORE it happened - I probably would have saved a lot of time, money and problems, because I would have known how tomanage the whole process. It's a great book. ... Read more
