A Great Resource!
I found this book to be a great resource for Administrators who need to write Teacher Evaluations.This resource would also be extremely helpful for Graduate Students who are taking Administration courses.The comments are appropriate.The "pats on the back" are explicit with details.This book is most helpful when comments for improvement need to be written. The negative scenerios come with a bank of suggestions for improvement.The CD made my life easier.I am sure that you will keep this book within arm's reach as I have done.

An outstanding resource for teachers
There are a plethora of books out about inquiry, the hot new buzzword in science education.This one has real substance.As a scientist, I think Llewellyn captures the true nature of science inquiry.As a teacher and professional developer, I especially like the self-assessments and rubrics to help make the transition from traditional practice to inquiry-based practice in the classroom.I use it so often that I keep losing it because I am always lending it to someone.This book will be useful to anyone who teaches science and wants to reach more kids more effectively. ... Revolutionary teaching!
The concepts in this book, along with those found in Larry's other book, Unwrapping the Standards, can revolutionize the way state standards are met in the classroom.I recently had the honor of meeting Larry in person and taking a four day workshop from him.He is a wonderful human being who is passionate about teaching children in a manner that actually matters.I have implemented some of Larry's strategies in my own classroom, and my students found them engaging and exciting. These books are well written and packed with information.Although I would recommend taking a workshop from Larry in order to make the best use of the books, one could certainly read the books independently and use them effectively. ... A well written leaning tool that needs updating
Positives: It's written in an easy-to-read style that won't have you sleeping (too quickly!) It's got summary "Exam watch" blocks every few pages to summarize what you should know. It's got videos on a CD (I know, don't roll your eyes yet) that are actually helpful. Most videos that come with computer training books that I've seen are a joke. These are different: you hear the author talking while you see the actual router / switch screen while he types IOS commands and tells you what's going on.This is a GREAT intermediate step between reading about IOS commands and trying them yourself on a device or simulator. These alone are worth the price of the book.The labs provided go well with the Boson NetSim LE simulation software provided.
Finally!! The lights are on!!
I bought this book after a frustrating day spent trying to learn subnetting.I started with that subject, and the lights in my mind went on within 10 minutes of reading and working out the examples.I actually understood subnetting.Amazing!From my brief encounter with this book, I have to agree with other reviewers.This book is excellent.The explanations are thorough, yet easy to follow.The examples are crystal clear.The layout of the self-test at the end of the chapter helps you know exactly where to go back to review.The Two-Minute Drill at the end of the chapter is way better than the summaries provided in other books.I am happy I bought this book.

The ONLY one-stop CCNA text period
I wish I had known of this book when I was studying for my CCNA exam. Do not be fooled into thinking that the Cisco Press books adequately cover all exam topics; they DON'T. Excellent--just be sure the information is as current as two others..."
Very helpful, but I'm not too sure how up to date the information is. Although this book has some excellent sample activities, a much more succinct (and less expensive) work is "So, You Want to Become a National Board Certified Teacher?" (2006 edition).
Great resource!
If you are working toward National Boards you have to have this book! I wish I would have had it when I began. The author gives sample answers to prompts and allows you to see at least what kind of information you need to be including. When I started my entries I had no idea of how to start because they give you no specific directions. This book does! It is a must have!!

The Marxist speaks out ?
In his last book, Andrew (Andy) Hargreaves takes us through the dark alley of modern education. At the end of the alley, shines his promised land of Marxism. Hargreaves political views are cleverly disguised, but still obvious. He never speaks of a Marxist society, but instead uses jargons such as "beyond the knowledge society", "social mission" and "cosmopolitan identity".

"Not as current as some, but valuable in its own right..."
As previously noted, this book desperately needs a current revision. Having said that, know that there is some very helpful information contained within these pages.
Navigating the National Board Certification Process: A Step-by-Step Workbook for Teachers
This was a big waste of money.It is out dated.The book gives five entries and the new instructions only have four.I am afraid to trust the things it says because It hasn't been updated to match the 2006 standards.I guess I should have checked the publication date, but amazon recommened it as a companion and I trusted that recomendation. ...
