Natalie - A Father's Startling Truth
Put aside any conclusions you may have drawn and read Natalie's father's book about his hunt for her and a foreign country's infested underbelly that stands in his way. We see re-enactments, interviews, and media coverage about the disappearance of Natalie Holloway; but the mind boggling, startling truth is only revealed in her father's book. The blogger, Shango, speaks in code and appears to take Natalie's disapperance in a chilling and totally different direction. Dave Holloway's book is one everyone should read before you and/or your kids take that next trip outside the U.S.

The Ultimate Cliffhanger!
I saw the reenactment last night on Inside Edition of the night that Natalee Holloway disappeared and it was really slanted, in my opinion.Nobody who has seen Joran would identify him as being with the blonde, American girl "with the Dutch accent."
Best True Crime Book Out There!
"Aruba" is a fantastic timeline of one of the saddest stories that has hit the news in years. The book lets it all be known and the love that Dave Holloway has for his daughter rings through loud and clear.His words are concise and he is careful to let readers decide for themselves what happened by just laying out the facts as they happened.I learned so much even though I had followed the news stories.There were numerous surprises and anyone who reads Aruba will definitely want to join in the boycott against that corrupt little island!Read it.You won't be sorry! ... good, but not as brutal as it is made out to be
THis book is pretty mild...the scenes in which the boys are abused by the guards are mostly cut off and non descriptive. one of the spotlight reviews points out the last part of this book is probably fantasy, and I tend to agree. I would think that it would be next to impossible to pull off what they did to those guys, and even if they did try to switch it like they did, then i would think the way they did it would have nothing to do with their trial results. I think that this was a good attempt and a great story, but would have worked better as a fictional piece...read it and see for yourself.

Shades of Frey
I agree with M. Cormier's review and believe this is partly true. It was an interesting book, well written but does not seem to be entirely true. It could be, but after James Frey's "memoir" all the non-fiction books I read are suspect. Non-fiction will never be the same.

Meat, Potatoes, and Salad
Sleepers is one of those books that the reader can get through very quickly. It is difficult not to become involved with the characters and with the plot. The book is well-written, and incredibly powerful. I give it four stars, not to take anything away from the book, but because I don't consider it to be a perfect book. It was quite an enjoyable read, and I definitely recommend it.

Not One of Her Best
Randall Woodfield seemed to have it all. Growing up he had a stable home life, did well in school, and was an exceptional athlete, excelling in every sport he tried. He was such a good athlete, in fact, that the Green Bay Packers drafted him. But Woodfield didn't make the team and he never finished college, instead drifting from job to job, from city to city. He also went from woman to woman, pursuing all of them intensely. Still, he seemed like a nice enough guy and people who knew him were shocked to find out that he was the I-5 killer, committing a series of robberies, terrorizing and assaulting young women, killing some of them.
Every Young Woman's Nightmare
The title of my review is kind of taken from the back of the book which I think is understandable.Again, Ms Rule has written with knowledge & with an edge that keeps one hooked from page to page.This book was the most terrifying I've read so far just because the killer, Randall Woodfield, spent a great amount of time in the area where I grew up (SW Portland) and at the same time when I was 16 years old (the age of girls he was attracted to).The bar where he worked is less than a mile from where I lived at the time. I probably saw him at some point but did not know it.I think that's pretty scary!
Ann Rule has honed her writing style over the years
"The I-5 Killer" lacks the elements that make Ann Rule books so fascinating.Granted that Randy Woodfield is a complex criminal, and his story is interesting, but when Ann Rule wrote this book she had not yet started delving into the perpetrators' pasts and psychological makeup.Like her other early works, "Lust Killer" and "The Want-Ad Killer", Randy Woodfield's story is a better-than-average true crime offering when compared to books by lesser authors, but not nearly up to the level of Ann Rule's writing today. ... Better than Hollywoodland
The movie Hollywoodland is great and brings out interesting theories of George Reeves death and now that I've read this book I realize where they come from. However, the movie left a lot of the circumstances concerning his strange death out because they wasted too much time on the fictional private eye. Actually his mother and her lawyer did hire a private eye, but this story dwells on all the participants in George's life, and their histories and lives, not on the story of one person investigating his death. It's all here and more. Of course no one has the final answer, but this goes through all the background information and theories. It's a great behind the scenes mystery of Hollywood in the 50s. A very interesting read, indeed.

Hollywood Kryptonite: IntriguingProbe of the DeathofSuperman
This biography is an impressive and readable work of detection, delving into the untimely death of George Reeves, the t.v. Superman beloved by millions of baby boomers. It is a fascinating read to follow the unraveling of a mysterious death. It's packed with gossipy stories of the tinny glitter of B List Hollywood of the 1950's, written in the hard boiled style of Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammet. It's got to be a major source for the movie Hollywood Land. It offers up more intriguing details about George Reeves and 1950's Hollywood than any movie could show. But I'm certainly not going to miss the movie, which looks to be a great film noir apparently inspired by this book.

It has no facts or hard data to back up.Just finger pointing, name calling, and accusastions that do not hold water nor have anything to back up.

Disappointing. Body Brokers Doesn't Deliver
While the author's intent may have been to inform the public about "horrific" practices in the corpse trade, the book is long and drawn out, lacking the promised punch. A few abuses and some questionable practices are reported, and are certainly distasteful, but little is done to demonstrate that this is a widespread issue. There is no attempt to address valid medical needs for research. In fact, the medical profession is nearly vilified for needing anatomy lessons.
Poorly Written and Misleading
This book is nothing more than the extension of a magazine article and the author's process of going through the research in writing it.She provides little substance to allow outsiders to fully understand the myriad issues involved in the use of human remains and instead chooses to sensationalize poorly researched facts.By doing so she does a disservice to the thousands of hard working people who are trying to pass on the gift of life to help others - whether through cadaveric training or tissue donation.There are much better books out there for people who are truly interested in learning about this industry. See M. Goodwin's book for instance.

This book is obviously generating a lot of controversy and the reviews speak for themselves.As a woman of color, I am not surprised by what I've read as prejudice is my daily reality and is the source of controversy here thinly veiled by "lack of research" or other excuses. All I can say is read the book and judge for yourself.I for one found the research to be thorough and the prose compelling. And I am proud of the author's decision speak up rather than disappear into the shadows.

Great Story and Good Read she is on the Money!
We need more people like this woman fighting the war on terror. She understands that it is a war against "Fundamental and Radical Islamists". I feel we should be racially profiling, and if you were to ask her, I am sure she would concur! For those of us in Law Enforcement whose hands are bound by Liberal politicians and the likes of the ACLU, this woman did it all with FOIA and public records. She is responsible for one of the largest crackdowns of bogus Islamic and Muslim charities to date. She also reminds us how even after 9-11-2001 the FBI is still not sharing information with the rest of us. It is a must read for anyone currently working CT op's, and will be on my list of books to give out this Christmas and Holiday season! This is truly a person who is winning the war against Islamo Nazi's!

Ok book but File System Forensic is better
I liked this book, but it is scattered in its topics.A lot of the information can be found online, and the tools aren't what we use on a daily basis.I'm not sure if any of them are commercial tools in this book.
Best incidence reponse book out
This is no doubt the best incidence reponse book out. I highly recommend this for anyone either in the field, learning to get into the field, or running a small to medium sized company without a team of experts. My entire network admin team uses this as a reference at the side of their desk.

Excellent basic reference
I read the book in about three days and found it to be a good primer for one leaning towards computer forensics.While some of the technology and tools described in the book will undoubtedly change within the next few months, a lot of the basic principles will remain pertinent for a long time to come.I heartily recommend this book for anyone with more than just a casual interest in Computer Security. ... serial killers;the method and the madness of monsters
This is the best book i have read on the subject of serial killers and i have read hundreds in my studies.

Highly Recommend!
This was a great book, Peter Vronsky obviously did a ton of research. The only minor complaint I have is there are times where he states the same things over again as if they hadn't been written in the book already. Other than that, in my opinion, it was indeed a well written book. He goes into great detail about what "triggers" serial killers, MO's, the methods of profiling, stories of actual crimes, etc. I was so intrigued by this book I finished it in 3 days.
Required Reading Impossible To Put Down!
This book was on the list of required readings for a criminal justice course I took but it was actually fun to read compared to some of the dull and clinical readings we have to do.I began reading this book on the way home from the campus bookstore, and could hardly put it down until I finished it.This writer deals with some very technical and heavy-going forensic material on serial killers, their psychology, history and investigative techniques. But he explains things in a very understandable way without talking down to you and gives real case examples for his stuff with identifiable details (which forensic texts often do not.) The references in this book are worth its cover price alone.I am so tired of reading "true crime" accounts with no idea where the authors get their information.This writer tells you the source of almost every major fact or controversial claim in his book. You can go and look it up yourself if you don't believe him or want to know more. And there is material here that no other books on Serial Killers deal with.Great book.Smart and hip. A Fast Food Nation or Black Hawk Down of serial killer books. Well researched and brilliantly written.Going beyond books on serial killers, this is one of the better books outright that I have read this year.Just a pleasure to read. ... Read more

Confidentially speaking, it's a great read
Browsing the bookstore's true-crime section last month in search of a page-turner I hadn't already read, I spied an unfamiliar jacket: Paul LaRosa's TACOMA CONFIDENTIAL.The synopsis was riveting.I only hoped the reading would be half as good as the compelling details promised.

A complete, in depth analysis of extraordinary evil
Wow, this is a deep, powerful book. I gave it five stars because it was very complete. The author started with his proposal that ordinary people can commit evil, introduces a model of what influences/causes extraordinary evil, and follows up on what can and should be done to ease (impossible to halt entirely) the spread of evil. Interspersed in every chapter is a harrowing account of genocide told by the perspective of the victims or eyewitnesses.
Incredibly well-written.
I was always fascinated with the question of human cruelty and the history of genocides, and after researching review on Amazon.com, settled on this book by James Waller. I was 100% right. It's incredibly well-written. Very easy to read, written in clear language in short chapters. Thoroughly researched. James Waller references and examines all the works that have been written on this topic before. His conclusions are profound, and dare I say it, correct.
It Could Happen to You
After buying this book and reading it myself, I loaned it to my brother and then gave it to my local library where I hope it will be read by many others.

Fact or fancy, readers must decide for themselves
I first read this book about ten years ago.I found it to be quite interesting, particularly the part which deals with the rise of organized crime in Chicago in the 1920s-30s.I didn't like the way the book was written, however, and I heavily discounted much of the latter part of the book because I couldn't believe that America's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) would work hand-in-hand with organized crime, and because I, like most Americans, still held the Kennedys in high esteem.If I had read the "Authors' Note" in the front of the book, I probably wouldn't have been quite so critical as to how the book was written; and if I had known how corrupt Joseph P. Kennedy and his sons were I likely wouldn't have discounted much of what I did earlier.In any event, after reading two or three more recently published and thoroughly documented biographies of the Kennedys, I decided to go back and re-read and re-evaluate this book.
Wake Up America! This Book Is Worth Consideration
Whilst I agree that this book is sensational and written to cash in on the Giancanna name, I would advise all of the reviewers who dismiss the JFK/MOB link to read up on Jim Garisson's investigation into the assassination and, no less, the Warren Commission Report as well.

This book kept my interest through most of it and was a pretty easy read. While all the information in the book may not be true, it makes you wonder what parts are true.

All You Ever Wanted to Know About Serial Killers...Mostly...
This is a veritable compendium of serial killers (who they are, how they kill, why they do it) and each killer has an in depth case study, and I do mean IN DEPTH!What more can I say.It was an interesting read with loads of resources for whatever macabre murder or murder type strikes your fancy...my only complaint is that there was actually quite a bit of repeated information.I'm assuming though that the author probably doesn't intend for the book to be read cover to cover (as I did), so he repeats information in various sections one might reference, probably to ensure his ideas are conveyed thoroughly for those not reading the entire book, like say, looking up a specific killer or type of killer.I give it a solid B, this would make a handy reference for a library or for use in a personal library if one writes about serial killers! :-)

A lot of research has been done about murderers and their motives and much of the research was by Mr. Schechter. Much of the research overlooks the fact that the most prolific serial killers were socialists, both as representatives of the government, or as individual murderers.

Woof woof. Who is that howling?
Paul Williams has put out a book, with a big emphasis on sources and footnotes and a scholarly appearance. Professionally put together it seems. He warns that Osama has dozens of nukes within the United States already and that the "American Hiroshima" is coming soon.
A Copy Should be Placed by Every US Front Door!
When you finish this book you will be depressed as hell and then you will realize that you ought to spend every waking moment enjoying life.Paul Williams writes well about the end of the world as we now know it and he gives great footnotes and a wonderful index for those who are into checking and rechecking.

Just Blah
I bought this book for about a dollar second hand and paid three or four dollars for shipping.It wasn't worth it.It was dull and uninteresting from beginning to end.I've read owners manuals for appliances that had more kick!If someone gives this book to you for free, it still isn't worth a read.

Hidden Files, REVEALED !
Ms. Sue Kovach's "Hidden Files" was a breath of fresh air! I first became VERY interested in this weird, unknown stuff after reading Jerry D. Coleman's "Strange Highways". My concerns about finding another book with actual police testimony and actual research work ended when I read "Hidden Files". It's full of logic which I seek and true investigations that I demand. Great book, great read!

This guy is worse than the guy that wrote "million little pieces".

Joe wrote the story, the courts found him guilty, Joe agreed with the verdict and came to a conclusion about why Jeff did what he did.Let's look at reality. Dr. Jeff had superficial wounds compared to everyone else. He was a surgeon. He was fooling around on his wife.
Justice plods along, but in the end gets to wet its teeth
'Fatal Vision' has to be my favorite true-crime story, partly because of the compelling way McGinniss leads us through the long process of catching Dr. MacDonald, and the cold brutality of MacDonald himself.If there was a store for Psychopaths R' Us, Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald would be in the front window.
