2-0 out of 5 stars Weak and disappointing..
I never miss an Evanovich book. She is the only author I actually buy in harcover.I want my money back !!!This is a pale shadow of her usual writing.Maybe her publisher was pressuring her for a book so she tossed this one off.I don't know but I do know I was very disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Read!
This book is really funny and a quick read. This would be a good book to take on vacation or lounge by the pool because it is light and funny.I like all of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books and also Metro Girl, so I felt this book was comparable to those. If you want a laugh, this book is for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Evanovich!
I LOVED Motor Mouth! It was such a fun read and I greatly enjoyed the characters.Being a NASCAR fan, I love the theme of these books even more.I greatly enjoyed Metro Girl, but have to say that I loved this one even more!I can't wait for the next Evanovich to come out!!I look forward to each of her releases and have yet to be disappointed!I highly recommend this one for a fun read full of laughs! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A lot better than the first
This is the second book in the circle trilogy.Like the first book, Morrigan's Cross, it starts off slow and if I could deduct 1/2 a point for that I would. But it makes up for it as it goes on.This is Larkin (a shape shifter) and Blair's (a vampire slayer)story. They are two of the six selected by Morrigan to form a circle and destroy a Vampire Queen Lilith, before she destroys the world.Besides the budding romance between Larkin and Blair this book has the 6 going back to the land of Geall to prepare for the fight that has to take place on Samhain. There are some minor battles fought and more character development in this one.It really makes you anxious to read the final installment, Cian and Moiras story. Nora blends fantasy and reality nicely.A fun story.

2-0 out of 5 stars A little closer attention to detail please...
After reading fantasy and sci-fi for the last 30 years, I consider myself rather well-read in the genre.Lately, as my taste has expanded to include urban fantasy, I have found quite a few authors who can make an alternate reality real.Alas, Book 2 of Nora Roberts doesn't make the cut.As a romance writer, NR probably creates reasonable story lines that actually make some sense.Dance of the Gods asks for total suspense of disbelief and then a willingness to exploit a genre for the sake of making some money.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a fun book!
I'm having such fun with this trilogy!I like it much better than her previous ones that have involved aspects of fantasy such as the In the Garden or Key trilogies. These characters have me hooked and I can't wait to see what happens next!Larkin is so darned cute and him and Blair together just made me laugh out loud several times throughout this book. She almost reminded me of Eve Dallas with her kick-butt attitude and long leather coat.Nora has done such a great job balancing out the darkness in this trilogy with love, hope and light and it makes this book truly a joy to read.I am counting the days until Valley of Silence comes out and I can read Cian and Moira's story. He's become my favorite character and a book focused on him should make for some intense reading indeed. This whole trilogy is definitely worth reading! Have I gushed enough yet? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rick Evans Latest Novel A Winner
Finding Noel grabbed my attention from the very first chapter. As a devoted Evans reader, I found this book one of his best, matching it closely with his first, A Christmas Box.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Warm Holiday Tale
Finding Noel is a sweet story which harkens back to the roots of the author's past Christmas themes of longing for loved ones and fighting for what's most important in this life... and then holding on tight! His fans are in for a wonderful holiday treat... something to savour and to share.

4-0 out of 5 stars A sentimental tale for the holidays
Richard Evans has a history of writing touching stories. His first book The Christmas Box left many of our library patrons touched for weeks, most freely admitting to shedding many tears.

2-0 out of 5 stars Definitely not Alcott's "Little Women"
I started reading this book expecting to like it - it's historical, related to Little Women, won the Pulitzer, doesn't feel like fluff, etc. However I had a really difficult time getting into the book.
5-0 out of 5 stars delicious writing
A lovely novel, albeit somewhat depressing. But war is hell.Meshes wonderfully with Little Women and is hard to put down once into it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful, Moving Story
This is the story of Mr. March, the absent father of Louisa May Alcott's LITTLE WOMEN, and his experiences when he leaves Massachusetts to become a chaplain and teacher in the Civil War. It's such a rich story, starting with background when he was a young man in roughly the 1840's working as a peddler in the South through his wartime work ministering to the Union troops, teaching former slaves, and then recovering from his own illness. All the while, he explores his own philosophy on life, and freedom, and love. Brooks writes everything with such detail, but the characters are completely relatable and, while we know the framework of the story from LITTLE WOMEN, there is so much that is new about the real lives and conditions of people during the Civil War. It's just fantastic. And the coolest part is in the Afterword, when Brooks explains that she based the character on Louisa May Alcott's real father, who was a leading abolitionist and teacher. Now I find myself wishing for a long weekend to reread LITTLE WOMEN! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites
"Angels Fall" is one of my all-time favorite books by Nora Roberts. The characters are believable, the plot is full of suspense, and the setting is breathtaking. Once again, Nora Roberts does not disappoint when it comes to describing the lush mountain scenery.
4-0 out of 5 stars She's the Master
Even though this is the first Nora Roberts' book I've reviewed, I'm a huge fan and have read almost all of her books. The only reason I didn't give this book five stars is because it's not as in depth as her other books - such as Northern Lights - one of my all time favorites.Don't get me wrong, Angels Fall wasn't lacking in any regard. I thoroughly enjoyed the characterization - impeccable as usual - Reece and Brody read like real people. The plot was intriguing and even though I wasn't too surprised when the "bad guy" was revealed, it didn't at all detract from a very enjoyable read.Nora Roberts seems to write effortlessly while sucking you into the story, making you feel as if you're watching it all unravel on the big screen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Read
The book was riveting in such that I couldn't put the book down even while working. The finding out what Reece was hiding and becoming a strong person because she wanted to live her life was excellent. The trust she had for Brody made the romance that was coming so believable.Excellent story. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not Typical Nora
I love Nora Roberts and have read most of her books...usually when a new one is released I rush right out to buy it.I have to say I was very disapointed in Morrigan's Cross.I had a difficult time getting into this book and it took me forever to read it...usually I get so hooked by her books, I can't put them down.I hope the second one in this series is not as disappointing!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not her best...
I did not like this book.I couldn't even finish it and it was so disappointing because I always love Nora Roberts books.I hope after this trilogy she doesn't write anymore books like this, needless to say I won't be buying the other two books in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Captivating!!
Similar to other readers, I had contemplated not reading this trilogy thinking it would have a silly story-line, but I was wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now that's what I'm talking about!
The only bad part about this book is it had to end! Red was conniving and dirty as they come in this scandalous tale of deceit and consequences. The narration really exemplified the story. It was almost like a good friend was giving you the scoop on what was going down. This wasn't your typical ghetto street saga either because the author has substance. She knows how to grab your attention and keep it. Based on the wild ending, I know a sequel will be hitting shelves in due time. Hopefully the wait won't be too long!^5.

3-0 out of 5 stars Can't put it down...
I sometimes read urban books since I can relate a lot, and this was a fast read! Red was pathetic...if she'd been a go getter with some scruples I'd have liked her better....

4-0 out of 5 stars So Dirty...So So Dirty
The title of this book definitly described who Red really is.I read this book in one day and was nowhere near being disappointed.Red did so many people "dirty" that there has to be a sequel to this, just to see what happens next.I don't want to sit here and give away any details, but I am sure that you will all agree with me that this book is (1) off the hook and (2) there needs to be a sequel.I mean it is only right!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars MASTER OF STORIES
Lark McClure, is Tristan's great granddaughter and has not been a Maja herselffor very long, and with all the recent attacks and many being new recruits that are killed It has been ordered that each new recruit be put with one of more experienced of the warriors. And Lark is team with Gawain one of the original Knights of the round table, and who also has the love em and leave them reputation. But After a recent attack from a very powerful sorcerer vampire from the dark grail where Lark almost died because she wasn't strong enough or experienced enough she knew that in principle this made sense but she wasn't to sure about being up close and personal with a vampire right now, especially one with the body a god would envy and did he have to look at her as if she was his next meal...oh wait she could be the vampires from authors court feed from the Maja blood totally OK except she's never let anyone do that yet. Oh this was not going to be easy....
5-0 out of 5 stars Angela Knight scores again
Angela Knight has become one of my favorite new authors. So many of my favorite authors have not come through lately, but she hasn't failed me yet. I really like this series. I can hardly wait for MASTER OF DRAGONS.
5-0 out of 5 stars AK's done it again!
Buy this book. Now. Subtle enough? Okay...I love this book. I've been hooked on AK's series since the beginning, but I honestly think Master of Swords is the best one yet. No one writes action or adventure or paranormal OR romance with the same skill and flair as Angela Knight. She can literally keep me on the edge of my seat with a fight scene, or sighing over her beautifully written love scenes. This was a fantastic story, and one I'm reading again already - and also one I'll definitely add to my keeper shelf, alongside every other book Angela's written. I definitely recommend Master of Swords. ... Read more

If you read all the rest of the dark books this is a great book. It has a the books in one adding to them. Very hard to put down.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Carpathians are BACK!!
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book.Ms. Feehan is incredible. She bought back every beloved character from the past and made their contribution to the story breathtaking.I even enjoyed Adrienne and Aidan's story. And, their book DArk Gold was the only miss Ms. Feehan ever had.Skylar and Dimitri's story is almost to delicious to wait for but, that Manolito.I cannot wait for Manolito and his heroinnes book.IT will be awesome. This book extended the series and bought me even closer into the Carpathian world.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Christine!!
I own all the books in the carpathian series.I have waited months for this book & I was not disappointed!!I have always wondered what went on with the characters after their book was finished. Now I know... I love that this book was a reunion of all the characters.Christine Feehan brought back all of my favorite characters, brought in some humor, but this was still a Carpathian book, still a romance novel, but a little more family oriented.I loved that she explained more about the past of some of the characters, and opens it up for more books to come.I can't wait for the next book!!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars simply the best
This book is simply one of the best books I have ever read!!Echoing the reviews of so many others for this book, I could not put it down and read it through the night.Francine Rivers has been blessed with the ability to create characters we can connect to immediately and cry with throughout the book. She includes topics that so many are embarrased by or ashamed of; she not only makes them interesting but she teaches compassion through them.I would not recommend this book to the young due to the sexual implications but those same implications are part of the hook that connects you with the characters so I would recommend it to everyone else.

1-0 out of 5 stars I want my money back
I didn't like one story in this book other than Kenyon's, and even that wasn't her best. The book was actually so bad that I resent the money I paid for it.And to add insult to injury, the other book I bought that was a compilation including Kenyon was only slightly better -- which is not saying much.Just a total waste of money.

2-0 out of 5 stars If Books were DVDs, these would be the extras...
I came to this book as a big fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series, but I hadn't read any of the other authors.I usually love collections like this, because I can read a shorter story by authors I'm not familiar with and can decide if I want to try a full-length novel. But too often lately, authors are starting to use anthologies as nothing more than "backstory" for their own series (L.A. Banks even says as much in the author's note to her story here), and don't strive to entertain those who aren't already familiar with their work, which leaves a large portion of the readership feeling left out of the joke.
3-0 out of 5 stars Love at First Bite Tickles
Although all of the stories definitely delivered on the theme, I found I enjoyed "Ride the Night Wind" by L.A. Banks and "The Forgotten One" by Rhonda Thompson the most.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great read but leans to the dark side--be warned!
This author is one of my very favorite brand-name picks and her books are immediate purchases. This is one of her strongest--yet darkest--stories to date. The male and female leads are strong, passionate characters with great chemistry that starts from the get-go and just keeps sizzling.
5-0 out of 5 stars A hot suspense that's sure to please!
I am hopelessly addicted to Shannon McKenna's novels.I've read every one of her books, multiple times in fact, and Hot Night was no exception in quality.McKenna is a novelist that knows how to successfully intertwine both romance and suspense together to create a story that is hard to put down.

5-0 out of 5 stars How on earth does DG continue to write such a great saga?!
ABOSAA is a very richly woven saga that was an enjoyable read from page 1 all the way through page 979. I continue to be in awe of DG's ability to write so much detail and to portray characters that are so believable. The Outlander series isone that I can immerse myself in and actually feel as if I am walking in Claire's shoes. Description is so authentic that you can almost "smell" what she is describing. Just when you believe a scene is too intense or disturbing, DG breaks up that emotion shortly after with something so witty that you laugh out loud! There are very few authors that can do that.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
Oh my God!!!I had trouble putting it down!!!When does the next book come out??I want to know if Brianna and Roger come back??Or do Jamie and Claire go back to the future???

4-0 out of 5 stars yet another guilty pleasure from Gabaldon
Although its quite an undertaking at nearly 1000 pages, "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" is a must-read for Jamie & Claire fans. They're back and in perfect form...with all the requisite tender love, devotion and sacrifice of previous Gabaldon tomes. In Jamie and Claire Fraser, the author has created two of the most clearly defined and memorable characters in current fiction. Gabaldon really shines in her ability to convey emotion so vividly that the reader can't help but become deeply invested in the series, despite its faults. Like all the Outlander books, the dialogue here fairly crackles off the page with wit, humor and visceral feeling. The author's trademark overstuffed cast of characters and extensively detailed descriptions of the minuteia of life (great for history buffs) is also present, but seems much more compelling in this novel in comparison to recent books. I must agree with other reviewers that the characters of Brianna and Roger have become decidedly lifelike and interesting in this novel, which was a pleasant surprise. One major problem is the author's rush to resolve storylines in the final chapters of the book. The ending seems to indicate that Gabaldon intends on continuing the series, so why give short shrift to such major plot points? Additionally, one question I'd have for the author is: Did women really get abducted so often back in the 1700's? Nary an Outlander book passes without Claire and/or Brianna getting abducted several times, just so that Jamie and/or Roger can ride heroically to their rescue. I believe these issues, along with the clear lack of editorial guidance during the making of this book, are simply symptoms of the author's ego, popularity and the hungry devotion of her fans to hearing anything at all about these characters. (And I am among those fans.) If you are picking this book up as a new reader, do yourself a favor and at least read "Outlander" first. Otherwise, your suspension of disbelief may not make it too far in this story. That being said, I consider "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" to be another enjoyable, yet guilty pleasure from Gabaldon because I simply cannot stop myself: I MUST know what happens next. ... Read more

    3-0 out of 5 stars Sub-par
I agree with another reviewer, who says that this book just isn't Through a Glass Darkly. There were many great things about this book, but there were some major things that really frustrated me.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Sequel..Almost as Good As The First.....
I read Now Face to Face years ago when it was first releashed and I have two say that I have yet too read such a great 2nd book in a series!! I loved the first book Through A Glass Darkly and still have a copy of it in my favorites book shelf!!! I wish there were a third book to this series!!This book is a great historical fiction novel. It is not just fluff, it is a true historical fiction novel!! Read it, you will love it too, but make sure you read the first book Through A Glass Darkly first.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful historical saga continues...
To me, Through a Glass Darkly is one of the most remarkable historical sagas ever written. I loved the novel so much and I kind of agreed with the comparisons to Gone with the Wind, except that Through a Glass Darkly has its own unique voice in historical fiction. I had looked forward to reading Now Face to Face and I couldn't believe that I had finally got my hands on a copy. This novel was not easy to obtain, but I'm glad I went the extra mile to get it. Barbara Devane has a legacy of debts left by her late husband, Roger Montgeoffry, which she decides to leave behind for the time being as she oversees her grandmother's tobacco plantation in Virginia. There she meets various people, namely one Col. Perry, who becomes her protector. Stronger and more determined, she returns to London to tighten the loose ends she's left behind. However, she will have to deal with various issues, such as her mother's pregnancy, her best friend Jane's involvement with the Jacobite uprising, and the biggest loose end of all, having to meet again with her cousin, the Duke of Tamworth, and his undying love for her. There are various twists throughout the novel.

4-0 out of 5 stars Compelling story for a non-historical fiction reader
I do not typically enjoy historical fiction especially if the book focuses too much on the historical facts than on creating a story. However, this book changed my thinking. The story was extremely compelling in its description of life in the Royal Court as well as family ambitions and gender roles during that period.I forgot that I was actually learning about history because I became so involved in the story. Also, the book included many surprises which I did not imagine.Just an incredible read overall.

4-0 out of 5 stars good fictional read but not history
This was the first novel by Ms Gregory that I've read and I did enjoy it.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best of Philippa Gregory!
By far the best book of all 20 of her books!Riveting in every way...The characters are very well developed and played out.I felt like it was fairly historically accurate, however I don't believe both of her children were Henry's and I don't think there was even much dispute about that. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAV. BOOKS!!
I am engaged, and like to browse through any books that relate to the subject (a little strange, I know... but my friends do the same!) Anyway, I came across Something Borrowed, and although not a typically flowing love story, it was SO much better than I expected-- which was a lot based on previous reviews! I literally couldn't put it down! I finished it in 3 days, and one night stayed up so late reading this page-turner I slept through my alarm in the morning... and was late to work! (It was worth it!) I just purchased Emily Giffin's other 2 novels and cannot wait to read them! I would recommend this book to any woman-- engaged or not. Although I can't wait to marry my fiance, I felt myself living vicariously through the character of Rachel and her steamy love affair! Giffin is able to so acurately put into words things women feel and think, and make points we never would have thought of ourselves! I was never bored as her descriptions led me to form a clear picture of the characters and situations in my mind. AMAZING!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Prequel for Something Blue
This book is suppose to be a prequel for Something Borrowed but I don't think it matters if you read it out of order. This is the same story as Something Borrowed but from the perspective of Rachel, the smart, hard working, good girl that was best friends with Darcy the pretty popular girl.Rachel is a devoted friend and also a little naive to Darcy.Rachel sets up Darcy with one of her male classmates at law school and watches them get engaged and on the verge of marriage. Then, on Rachel's 30th birthday party, she has a fling with Darcy's fiance. It is shocking to her but she doesn't want to stop. She struggles with her loyalty to Darcy or following her heart for a guy she liked but never had the confidence to go for him herself, but rather set him up with her pretty friend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Book!!
I agree with everyone else. This book was amazing, I could hardly put it down.
