5-0 out of 5 stars Ooops! She did it again
J.K Rowling has pulled off another stellar Harry Potter. Because the amount of time it takes to complete a 7-part series, I thought she'd run out of steam, but clearly she has not. After seeing what happened with King towards the end of the Dark Towers series, I was afraid another renowned writer might do the same. I was pleasantly disappointed. There is nothing else to say. Great book. She keeps the series rolling perfectly. Some of the goings on (people who've read the story should know what I'm talking about) I believe are front for other plans, and I was not heart broken at the end.
5-0 out of 5 stars Harry's Daring Quest
Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore try to research Lord Voldemort's childhood. They search through the pensieve discovering the truth about Lord Voldemort. They realize the rutheless, evil wizard splits his soul into seven pieces by murdering seven innocent people. Then he magicallyhid them into valuable objects, which Harry and Dumbledore set after for. I loved the book because the story line was thrilling and intriguing. The characters were daring, intelligent, humorous, and wise. My favorite character is Harry Potter who is a sixteen year old wizard who's parents died because Voldemort murdered them both. Harry is my favorite character because he is brave and humorous. Some related books to this one are all five of the other Harry Potter books. I think this book ranks number one in comparison to them all.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book series stinks! And that's flattering.
One star is giving this terrible and uninteresting series a huge compliment. Especially this book, where the plot consists of little but pointless stories of the character's love lives until the end, when there is a quick bit that is actually about Good vs evil. If Harry can be called good. beyond this words cannot describe my disgust for this book and for the whole series. Hope Harry dies. Painfully. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

As his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry approaches, 15-year-old Harry Potter is in full-blown adolescence, complete with regular outbursts of rage, a nearly debilitating crush, and the blooming of a powerful sense of rebellion. It's been yet another infuriating and boring summer with the despicable Dursleys, this time with minimal contact from our hero's non-Muggle friends from school. Harry is feeling especially edgy at the lack of news from the magic world, wondering when the freshly revived evil Lord Voldemort will strike. Returning to Hogwarts will be a relief... or will it?Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars By far, the worst in the series.
This installment is easily the weakest in the series. The writing is all over the place, and there is no central plot to drive the story. That being said, the book is still good. I've just come to expect more from this series.

5-0 out of 5 stars It was great!
Harry Potter and The Order of the Pheonex was one of the best books i have ever read even though I am a huge Harry Potter fan. The book starts out by describing how the muggle prime minister and the minister of magic have to be connected. Harry is at home in the next chapter and Dumbledore comes to see him at the Durlseys and tells Harry how they would be having lessons the whole year, teaching Harry more about Voldemort's past and Harry learning how to kill Voldemort. The rest of the book plays up on the adventure that Dumbledore and Harry take together trying to kill part of Voldemorts soul, a Horcrux. When Harry and Dumbledore come home Dumbledore learns of how Draco Malfoy has been following Voldemort all year and Snape is also on the dark lord's side, seeing how he kills Dumbledore.

    5-0 out of 5 stars Dustin's Review
I loved this book because it kept you guessing and it was exciting. It was even better than all the others in my opinion.Harry was furious because he coudn't find out what Lord Voldemort was doing. This book is about stopping Voldemort and his horrible plans. The head of the ministry of magic has hired Professor Umbridge as the new defense against the Dark Arts teacher and the High Inquisitor of the school.Harry tries to help out other people by teaching defensive spells.I definitely recommend this book to people of all ages! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Advice of sibling true - they get better and better
My little brother passed away at just 17 years old on July 25th, and I remember when I first started reading year 4, he said that each book only get's better and I have a long way to go. Yes, it took me nearly three months to read this novel, but not because I'm that slow of a reader. More likely, the story and characters were so interesting that I preferred dragging out each chapter to save myself from moving forward to year 5.
5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Book- one you could read again and again
I LOVED THIS BOOK! It really IS a book you could read again and again. If I was stranded on an island for weeks and could only bring ONE book, I would DEFINETLY bring this book, without a doubt. It was thrilling, sad, funny, and beautifully written all at the same time. I admit, I cried. I did. Some people would think why cry but it was so touching, so beautiful, I loved it. It really is the BEST book I've ever read. I can't say anything bad about it.

For most children, summer vacation is something to look forward to.Butnot for our 13-year-old hero, who's forced to spend his summers with an aunt, uncle, and cousin who detest him. The third book in J.K. Rowling's HarryPotter series catapults into action when the young wizard "accidentally" causes the Dursleys' dreadful visitor Aunt Marge to inflate like a monstrous balloon and drift up to the ceiling. Fearing punishment from Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon (and from officials at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who strictly forbid students to cast spells in the nonmagic world of Muggles), Harry lunges out into the darkness with his heavy trunk and his owl Hedwig. 4-0 out of 5 stars I like the book
I choose to read Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban this summer,as a summer reading book because I thought the movie was good. So , I decided to read the book and see what is different and the same. J.k. Rowling has a great nack for writing children's because i love the books she writes. What I don't like is that the book ends and doesn't say where Harry stays. Does he stay with his godparent or dr does he go back to his uncle & aunts house.Maybe he stays with his godparent or go's to his uncles or he stays in hogwarts. I would like to read the fourth book to find out.

4-0 out of 5 stars It was a great book
This summer i read the book Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. I thought the book was greta and so was the movie. In the book there is some parts that are the same in the movie and somethings that are in the book not in the movie. That is what i did not like about the book the parts should of been explain so you could understand it more. Overall i like reading Harry Potter books because they are very interesting and exciting to me.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is very funny !!! great book!!!
This is a plot for everyone because it is very entertaining. It is also very easy to understand. Once you start reading, you can hardly put the book down. There are also links to other episodes of the book that makes the reader want to read more. There are usages of magic, fantasy creatures, and competitive sports in the plot to create colorful variety to the audience. J.K. Rowling uses the purity of adolescence and interprets it in the form of courage, cooperation, and youthful innocence that showed the power to overcome many things.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Review from a Perfect Score
The book starts off at Harry's aunt and uncle's house. Harry goes back to Hogwarts for his second year at school. There is a new character and his name is "Dobby." He is a slave. He does not want Harry Potter to go to Hogwarts. Dobby made it so that Harry could not get on the train so Harry took a flying car. And Dobby made the Blunger in Quitage chase him and break his arm.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Entertaining and a great value
I love this set.The performers are superb, and are clearly having fun with the reading, the text is unabridged, and there is a complete lack of chessy effects or background sound track, with the exception of segway music at the beginning and end of each CD, which I personally find very a very nice prompt to switch CDs. Even the questionable nod to femminism by including Lynn Redgrave as a reader for "Prince Caspian" does not diminish the production or entertainment value one iota. They presented in a different order from the original book series publication, but that was no matter to me: I simply listen to them in the coreect sequence.I am perfectly content to hear how it all began later rather than sooner.

4-0 out of 5 stars What A Wonderful World It Is
The Chronicles of Narnia - the audios were really quite good. They are each done by different actors.Kenneth Branagh, who I know from Harry Potter's Chamber of Secrets, did well with the story telling of the first book "The Magician's Nephew".All the other actors were wonderful as well. But the best, to me, was Patrick Stewart, in "The Last Battle". What a performance. He caught my attention. So very dramatic, very passionate and funny!Overall, I enjoyed it.And to me, it's almost up there with Harry Potter's audio, and Lord of the Rings audio with Ian Holmes, playing the role of Frodo. If you want to buy it go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars More Complete Dramatization For Fans of the Book
I own both radio dramatizations (Minds Eye and BBC).On the whole I prefer the Minds Eye one. Both have their pros and cons, but as a fan of the book this one was more accurate to the story and conveyed a better sense of emotion than that of the BBC story. The BBC has a way better sound affects, overall better production value, and a more evened out (and higher priced) cast.Still, though, overall the Minds Eye produced better voices for Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Eomer, and Faramir than the BBC production did, and Frodo was well done also (just not as good as Ian Holm). However, the top factor for me was that the Minds Eye is just far more accurate to the book itself, for my money, than the BBC version.Others opinions obviously very.Know what you're looking for in whichever set you buy.

3-0 out of 5 stars okay
I'm a HUGE Tolkein fan. This CD way OKAY, here's why.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful memories - nice to have on CD
Back in the late 1970's, in an era when radio drama was disappearing from public radio, the American prodcution of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" were created with a full cast of voice actors along with music and sound effects.Reminiscent of the radio dramas of the 1940's and 50's, these productions were usually aired on Sunday afternoons, when a family could listen and enjoy the week's story.Released on Jabberwocky Audio on cassette tapes, I remember the Christmas when I received the entire collection of Jabberwocky's stories on tape. From "The Hobbit" to "Alice in Wonderland" to "The Red Badge of Courage," all were classic tales. They even re-released on cassette some of the original radio productions, such as "War of the Worlds" and "The Gift of the Magi."These stories were designed to get the listener interested and promote reading the books the productions were based on.They were not designed for an adult audience, but rather for children and families to share.Wonderfully edited and masterfully performed, many modern audiences find these old productions a little silly or even perhaps dated, but play it for a child, and they will listen in rapture, just as I did 25 years ago when they were new.Of all my collection of the Jabberwocky tapes, "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" are the only ones that I have trouble playing today, because they have been played so many times over the years that they are worn out.We would play them in the car on road trips, I would play them in my room while putting together a puzzle, and I played them for my friends, who enjoyed them as much as I did.I am delighted to have it on CD to listen to over and over again. At seven years of age, I had not yet read the books when I first listened to the tapes. But the tapes were perfect for a small girl just getting interested in reading. If only all the rest of the old radio dramas were also on CD!I would buy them all.It was unfortunate to come to this website and see the poor reviews written by people who have no understanding of the history of the production or what demographic it was originally intended for.I look forward to the day when I can play these CD's for my own children and see the wonder and delight in their faces when they hear the same stories that I grew up with. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great decent family time fun
After getting hooked to a radio book I heard almost 3 years ago I decided to look for other Christian based audio book stories that I could enjoy with my son.I bought this for him and we have heard several so far.The stories are played out in a very real and tangible way.We have sat in bed with our eyes closed and it feels like you're in a theater.Of course it helps if you have surround sound but sounds just as good if not.Great for long trips in the car or to just play on a rainy day at home snuggled under the covers. This type of story telling awakens the imagination of children in a way that TV will never!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining
Listening to the book in full theater format was very interesting and enjoyable.
4-0 out of 5 stars Narnia Radio Theatre - almost perfect
I do NOT enjoy audio books - I generally find them long and boring and would much rather use my own imagination than some actor's choice of cadence and emphasis. On the other hand, I loved (mostly) the BBC radio productions of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" which have become long road trip standards for our family.I have never found a comparable production until I discovered the The Chronicles of Narnia. The voices of the actors were VERY well done(with one exception) and the background sound effects and music were excellent and I found the connective narrative enough without being too much.On the other hand, I have read of the Narnia books so I may be unconsciously bridging gaps. Still, my husband, my son and my grandchildren have only read/seen "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" before hearing this set and had no problem with the other books, so the narrative is probably sufficient.I have two issues with the series which is why I awarded only 4 stars:

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent read, and a great deal of insight
This is the first book of Lewis' Space Trilogy and it has all the wonderful qualities of a SciFi/fantasy book mixed with a certain amount of theological and philosophical intellectualism that one would expect from such a distinguished author.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
This is the first book in C.S. Lewis's amazing Space Trilogy. These books are far less known than Lewis's Narnia series or even his Mere Christianity or The Screwtape Letters, yet it is just as good as any of those writings and goes to show the versatility of Lewis as an author.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Science Fiction Tale; Whether or Not You Are Religious
Very few science-fiction books treat religious themes and even fewer take religion seriously. This short book by C.S. Lewis does both of things wonderfully. It examines the idea of what other inhabited worlds could be like, given the assumptions of a Christian worldview. What would an alien Fallen world look like? What would an un-Fallen world look like? What would the sacrifice of Christ mean to these worlds?

5-0 out of 5 stars Am I Sappy
Maybe so. I loved this book. Is it is funny, sexy, and ultimately shocking.A punch to the gut just when you thought is was safe. The author displays an enormous knowledge of pop culture both recent and a tad older. At one level a love story and at another a mystery.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
The Time Traveler's Wife is a marvelous story about the entangled lives of two extraordinarily interesting people. The tale about these two characters' lives is gripping and commands a surprisingly emotional response from the reader.Though this book is fiction, the writer is able to convey a sense of realism that makes this story neither trite nor allows for cynicism. Ms. Niffenegger has created a work of art that cannot be overlooked.

4-0 out of 5 stars All said and done, I'm glad I read it
I read the prequel trilogy as the books came out.Dune: House Atreides was a worthwhile effort, but things got progressively worse with House Harkonnen and House Corrino. To get to the meat of the story, you have to suffer trite cliches and a penchant for extreme violence.Honestly, it was almost as pathetic as Left Behind.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Workmanlike Followup to Frank Herbert's Dune Novels
I read Frank Herbert's Dune books many many years ago an while I remember the broad strokes of the expansive stories, many of the minute details have slipped away over the years. As such, I was able to approach Hunters of Dune without any conceits about comparing it to the original novels. All I wanted was an entertaining story that picked up the major threads from the previous books and brought some closure to the cliffhanger like ending of Chapterhouse Dune. On that level, I was satisfied with what Hunters of Dune gave me.
2-0 out of 5 stars They shouldn't have bothered!!
I have been excited about this book for quite some time, despite my reservations.I read the prequels and wished I hadn't bothered.I didn't even bother with the Butlerian Jihad prequels. But this I had to read because it was based on his outlines. This book was written for twelve yearolds who have never even read a Dune book.I'm tired of people saying that Brian should be given a break. He is not a good writer period.I read thisthing so fast because I didn't want to waste any more time than I had to. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A lot better than the first
This is the second book in the circle trilogy.Like the first book, Morrigan's Cross, it starts off slow and if I could deduct 1/2 a point for that I would. But it makes up for it as it goes on.This is Larkin (a shape shifter) and Blair's (a vampire slayer)story. They are two of the six selected by Morrigan to form a circle and destroy a Vampire Queen Lilith, before she destroys the world.Besides the budding romance between Larkin and Blair this book has the 6 going back to the land of Geall to prepare for the fight that has to take place on Samhain. There are some minor battles fought and more character development in this one.It really makes you anxious to read the final installment, Cian and Moiras story. Nora blends fantasy and reality nicely.A fun story.

2-0 out of 5 stars A little closer attention to detail please...
After reading fantasy and sci-fi for the last 30 years, I consider myself rather well-read in the genre.Lately, as my taste has expanded to include urban fantasy, I have found quite a few authors who can make an alternate reality real.Alas, Book 2 of Nora Roberts doesn't make the cut.As a romance writer, NR probably creates reasonable story lines that actually make some sense.Dance of the Gods asks for total suspense of disbelief and then a willingness to exploit a genre for the sake of making some money.
5-0 out of 5 stars What a fun book!
I'm having such fun with this trilogy!I like it much better than her previous ones that have involved aspects of fantasy such as the In the Garden or Key trilogies. These characters have me hooked and I can't wait to see what happens next!Larkin is so darned cute and him and Blair together just made me laugh out loud several times throughout this book. She almost reminded me of Eve Dallas with her kick-butt attitude and long leather coat.Nora has done such a great job balancing out the darkness in this trilogy with love, hope and light and it makes this book truly a joy to read.I am counting the days until Valley of Silence comes out and I can read Cian and Moira's story. He's become my favorite character and a book focused on him should make for some intense reading indeed. This whole trilogy is definitely worth reading! Have I gushed enough yet? ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The Wheel of Time keeps turning...and turning...and turning...
This series has become a complete disaster.
4-0 out of 5 stars Wheel of Time, Book 8
The Seanchan invasion force is in possession of Ebou Dar. Nynaeve, Elayne, and Aviendha head for Caemlyn and Elayne's rightful throne, but on the way they discover an enemy much worse than the Seanchan. In Illian, Rand vows to throw the Seanchan back as he did once before. But signs of madness are appearing among the Asha'man. In Ghealdan, Perrin faces the intrigues of Whitecloaks, Seanchan invaders, the scattered Shaido Aiel, and the Prophet himself. Perrin's beloved wife, Faile, may pay with her life, and Perrin himself may have to destroy his soul to save her. Meanwhile the rebel Aes Sedai under their young Amyrlin, Egwene al'Vere, face an army that intends to keep them away from the White Tower. But Egwene is determined to unseat the usurper Elaida and reunite the Aes Sedai. She does not yet understand the price that others, and she herself, will pay.
4-0 out of 5 stars I agree with the guy who listed all the A words...
I bought this book a while back thinking I'd get to it eventually.I knew (because I faced this with number six and I'll probably have to deal with it in number 9) that I'd have to dig up the series and at least skim a few of the tomes to figure out what's going on.I also agree that this series just has to end.I started reading this series in college when it was already on book three in hardback.I've been out of school for a while now and while I'm still a big fantasy fan, I have to admit that there are places I won't dig in my bag to pull out my 700 page novel with the picture of the guy holding up a sword on the cover.I say all this fully aware in the knowledge that at the end of book three, when Faile comes over the hill with her army, I got chills and nerd tears welled up in my eyes.It was a moment fit for the society of creative anachronism, to be sure. But this isn't a review of the series or Jordan's life's work. It's a review of Book 8.So, where was I... I think I have to go back to the end of book seven and find out... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb audio, excellent translation
There has been some dispute about the quality of the translation of this edition, as well as about the quality of the reading aloud. Having listened to most of it countless times and played portions of it for several spanish speakers, including two teachers who are native speakers from Venezuela, I can attest with, I think, some authority that both the translation and the spoken quality are excellent.
3-0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter y la piedra audio CD
The quality of the CD production is fine. My only complaint is the narrator tries to imitate the voice of the many different characters in ways that would (probably) be entertaining to elementary school age children. Since I am an adult listening to these CDs to improve my spoken Spanish comprehension, the exaggerated voice styles are not so amusing. On the other hand, the audio exactly duplicates the Spanish version of the book, so it's quite handy for reading a chapter and then listening to it. All in all, I'll buy the same versions of the sequels when they become available. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars hilarious!
this book is written in the form of varies letters written from a evil demon who is advising his nephew on how to be a better and more effectively evil demon,as the nephew is lacking in that department.its very entertaning i think.its done in a playful and interesting way or maybe its just me.read it and see.its not satanic or anything just philosophical satire from my point of view.a good read!

    5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read classic of the 20th century.
C.S. Lewis is clearly one of the masters of 20th century prose. His theological ideas are very succulent in their purpose and while I may not agree with every doctrinal belief of his, the essence of his message is a very pure one - fulfilment comes only from submitting your will to the Father, through loyal service, dedication, and love (which He very happily returns to you in limitless abounds).
5-0 out of 5 stars Fiendishly funny or frightfully real?
Oh my, what a book this is. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this book. And yet, at the very least, I now have a better feel for what probably is some evil "goings-ons" in my own life. Evil that is so invisible and subtle that I hardly know it's there. Until it's too late. It seems like no matter what we humans may try to do, satan (what I used to call "the force of evil") always seems to have a trick up his sleeve to throw us off kilter and keep us from cutivating our hearts and souls to become better people. This book is truly C.S. Lewis "unplugged" and full throttle. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This book annoyed me.
Ok so when I first started reading the book I thought all right this is ok.And the book went along and I still thought it was ok good at times but just a decent book. Then I finished the book and I realized something.Nothing had happened really. There was nothing to tell you what the overall plot would be for the triolgy it was just them going from once place to the other. Its like oh there is a ghost we should follow it, yeah because that is such a smart thing to do.This book just annoyed me so much because nothing happend in it.I don't really understand why so many people love this book. This book is average at best and not much else.

5-0 out of 5 stars For the fifth time...
I was first introduced to Dragonlance my senior year in high school.I had spent the previous summer reading many Forgotten Realms novels, while at the same time listening to my friends rave about the world of Dragonlance.Dragons of Autumn Twilight was actually my second Dragonlance novel I read (the first one being Kindred Spirits) and from beginning to end, I enjoyed it.Dragons of Autumn Twilight is a great start to a wonderful trilogy. It was unforgettable characters, unique landscapes, and powerful villains.
1-0 out of 5 stars Might be good if written by a high school student
I would really like to know the average age of the reviewers who rated this book favorably.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weak
After a friend highly recommended the Dark Tower series to me, I trudged through The Gunslinger promising myself to keep my expectations low in accordance with the author's plea to look beyond the first book.Unfortunately, I found The Drawing of the Three to be one of the weakest stories I've ever read.I think the best description has already been stated elsewhere in these reviews...dull.
5-0 out of 5 stars The company grows, and you also understand more now...
"Drawing of the three" has a direct connecion to "The Gunslinger", the book right before this one in the "Dark Tower" - series. One thing I must definitely say what's a progres opposite to the one before: I had much less problems to follow the story!!! The story is simple, though: On his way along the Western Beach Roland enters our world through three different doors into hree different time zones, and so he's able to make two people join him on his trip, the 3rd door has some kind of task for him...
5-0 out of 5 stars Classic King
This second part of the Dark Tower series is essentially a set-up book. This is where Roland gathers an unsuspecting group of people that will help him on his quest for the Dark Tower. The events of this novel are so well written and unpredictable that it will keep you turning pages. One gets the feeling at the end of book that the stage is now set, and the real fun is ready to begin in part III.

This series has quickly become one of my favorites. Her writting is intense and makes for great story-telling.Highly recomended.

4-0 out of 5 stars The ending really makes up for the middle
Master of Dragons is the final book in the Dragonvarld trilogy by Margaret Weis, and like so many other trilogies that are up and down from the beginning to the end, Weis completes the series in a positive manner after a true stinker of a second book.I really disliked Dragon's Son, but the third book definitely made up for it.It still suffered from some of the same problems, but ultimately it overcomes those deficiencies to make a somewhat thrilling conclusion.
