AWESOME
I aced my test by over 40 points, what can I say????This book worked wonders!I read through it once and then made flashcards in the week before the test on things I did not know the first time I read through it.The author does a great job of covering everything!This is all you need to ace your test!!!

This Study Guide is Awesome...
I just the test on October 6th for the first time since graduating this year.I studied this book a week before I took the NCE and passed.Before studying this book I used audio CDs which were offered by NCE but was not all that helpful like this book.This book really helped me out and the way the information is presented in this book is really helpful when taking the actual test.

Critical book for research design
This was a required text for one of my graduate Professional Communication classes. If I lost it, I would have to buy another one because it's that good. And these text books are expensive. My professors have entire libraries at their disposal, and they chose this particular book for one of their courses.'nuff said.

Good book if you have the solutions manual
I bought this book for self study. It has ton's of examples that really help out. But like some of the other reviewers have pointed out... the book can be extremely confusing at times. That's when i reach for the solutions manual that goes with it. It has a step by step break down of the odd numbered problems. The break down's aren't 100% complete and they skip a lot of the algebra parts, but it shows all the calculus stuff.
Just because the subject is hard doesn't make the book bad
The majority of complaints about this text tend to be biased towards people who 1) have problems with the material w/o this book 2) HAD to take the class and didnt do well 3)have never seen what else is out there for calculus text
One of the best!
I underdstand that calculus is a very complicated subject and most people who have had to study it don't even want to remember about it. I guess that is the reason why this excellent book is not admired very much. However, it IS and probably will continue to be one of the very best introductory courses. The Mysterious ways of DoG
A Good Dog -- A story about Orson, who changed my life" by John Katz, is an incredible read, a true love story between human and animal -- bridging the gaps between belief and unbelief.

very upset about jons latest book.it really is just a rehash of his past books and not to his usal standard.there are dog people who specialize in dogs that bite why not consult one of them instead of a witch doctor?to do what he did must have been very very hard,and hurt very much .i was a huge fan ,read all his other dog books,this ones a big let down.

Becoming One With the Points
This is an excellent read for any acupuncture student, practitioner or enthusiast!Deadman's language is poetry.The points come alive when reading this text!
Peter Deadman's A Manual of Acupuncture
Not possible to find a better English language reference source than this book. I have used the book in hard copy but prefer it on CD. Quick to find items using CD and a notebook and CD weigh less that the actual manual. The pronunciations that come with the book on CD seem accurate, depending on the area from whence your Chinese comes. Good background data for all point locations and rationale for their use.

I'm on day 9...
And I'm not impressed.Never again!This has been torture.I'm more energetic when I wake up in the morning, but that's about the only positive.I admit I made some modifications: used reconstituted, bottled lemon juice, for two days I had just water, and one day apple cider.I'm going to keep going until day 10 just for the sense of accomplishment.Anyway, I've been trying to clear up my allergies and skin problems, and so far this has not seemed much help.I don't know, maybe it has helped but I don't realize it.Next I'm going to try using oxy-powder to cleanse the gunk from the colon in a simple, non-torturous way (just have to take some pills) and also do a series of gallbladder/liver flushes.My point is, the Master Cleanser is just one part of detox-ing: it is a kidney flush, but one would be well-advised to do a liver-gallbladder flush right afterwards.This book has helped many people, I'm sure, but so far my experience has told me that it's not for me.I'd only do this again as a last resort.Here are some helpful sites: curezone and [...].That's just my opinion.To all the people out there struggling with health problems, good luck, and don't give up, and don't let the conventional medical industry fool you into assuming there is no cure for whatever you have, and don't let irrational skeptics sway you!

Good program
I did alot of research on this clense before i started and made a commitment to try it.I sort of eased into the diet by having 1 small meal a day consisting of organic spinach salad.On say 2 of the wean i experienced a terrible headache but i honestly believe that after 20 years of drinking pepsi with everything- this was simply caffeine withdrawl.Those who make it sound easy will fool you into failing.The lemonade will give you what you need, but after a lifetime of eating you will definately crave food.It will get easier but never easy.You have to commit yourself.I compare this to quitting smoking which is my next task.
How often do you take food for granted?
I once heard on a health program that most of us have 'stuff' in us (in our intestines) that's at least two months old!Wouldn't that be great to remove all of that gunk residing in your intestines and toxins in other parts of your body?The Master Cleanse was a great way to do it for me.It was a bit challenging because I *love* food, and just not eating was such a foreign concept.But the drink is pretty tasty and I felt all of its cleansing effects.It's easy to tell that this book was written half a century ago, though the content is easy to digest and intriguing.The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it tries to convince the reader to stay away from animal and animal-derived foods once the cleanse is done, as if that's the only way to diet for life.He threw in a bunch of recipies for the blandest-sounding food, so only two-thirds of the book was useful to me.The main part of it, The Lemonade Diet, is the heart of the book and it's worth a whole lot more than $6.50. ... I read this as a student in my 3rd and 4th year. This book will help you be a better physician, no matter what specialty. If you buy one book your entire career, this is it.

Most accurate and cool. Go on editors...
I'm the physician who've alredy suggested HPIM to use color boxes, to summerize many longer chapters like infections, to enlarge many chapters like cardiology, to make pocket version thinner and larger, etc. You editors, reall proffesionals. Because you follow the readers. Do you read the other feedbacks? You see most of other professionals thank for the same topics. Now, I'd like to suggest three more thing, which have not been performed yet: HPIM must be reduced (it must be only one volume) and editors need to follow updates more. Medicine is not AIDS, only. Do you follow the latest datas related to diabetes, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, etc. Because their prevalence is higher than 10%. If you think about these suggestions, I think HPIM may go on to be no 1 in this field. I'd like to write more to editors and publishers if they reply.

Also great for specialties outside of internal medicine
So, everyone knows that Harrison's is the Bible for internists and residents of internal medicine.As a 3rd year medical student, I used the book to research whenever I had to give a presentation or wanted to know more about my patients.

Excellent book on all aspects of Freshman Physics
This series of textbooks on college freshman physics is simply the best I have found in print, even if it is not the most widely used. It has clear explanations of all concepts, plenty of instructive diagrams, and most of all many interesting solved problems and examples. I am by no means saying that this is an easy book, you will need to read it carefully and work through the examples. However, unlike with other physics textbooks, all of the information is there if you are willing to put forth the required time and effort. Make sure you've had the first two semesters of calculus first though, or there are parts of this book that will not make sense to you. If you are interested in having a good textbook and reference for both college physics and modern physics, it is the best choice you could make. If you are only interested in the classical physics part, I suggest you buy the 10th edition and save yourself a lot of money. The 10th edition has just a very abbreviated section on modern physics. This book is of great use for engineers, because not only will it get you through your freshman physics sequence smoothly, it is a great reference with lots of examples that you will need when you take statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and your sophomore level courses on electric circuits and EM. I notice that Amazon does not show the table of contents, so I do that here:
One of the best
This book is one of the best general physics texts there is. Period. The author(s) took the time to clearly explain topics and answer all those little "Wait, why did you do this?" questions that other texts leave to you to figure out. I still go back to this book instead of Hibbeler's engineering series as the concepts are explained much more clearly and the excersizes are tough to make sure you really learn the concepts. Another great feature of this book is it's easy to understand writting style. Reading the book is just like having a professer explain something to you in person, not a mathenatician reading a theorem out loud, unlike say, Hibbeler. Very good choice overall.

Superb book for the beginning Physics student
This book is the best book out there that I have seen for the beginning Physics student.It is a bit wordy as some of the reviews have said, but I think the authors have done their best to bend over backwards to explain each Physics topic in a simple, clear, and unassuming way for the neophyte.Even as reference, this textbook is invaluable, because it explains concepts down to the nitty gritty detail; unlike a book like Physics by Halliday, Resnick, and Krane which just drops you onto your head expecting you to have some understanding of the subject already.This book is unpresumptious, unpretentious, and yes for some; unsophisticated, but when you're just starting out in Physics, no one expects you to be an Einstein or Feynman right from the start. ... I'm in Biology heaven
Ah, the holy grail of textbooks: To find a textbook that is completely clear, explains all aspects of the subject, lets you understand rather than just memorize so you can think independently on the subject and actually enjoyable to read.Textbooks like those are incredibly rare and they are worth their weight in gold once you find them.Looks like we found one for biology.

Poor Organization
I decided to buy this book instead of borrowing from the library because of the pretty colorful pictures it has. However, I regret spending $100 on this book because the text is poorly orgnanized. Although some chapters are written well, you will see content are scrambled within some chapters making it hard to take notes. There are also errors like they mentioned that Th cell help cellular response, but they ever tell you how. The activation gate and inactivation gate mentioned in the neuron chapters are confusing. The mentioned it on the text, but they don't show it on the pictures.

Terrible.
This book is extremely confusing and has too much distracting information.It's sad that many schools use this as their text on physics.There is little to no math in this book to assist you, yet the review sections expect you to know the math to do the work.How is that possible?Terrible book.

This book is complete nonsense. It reflects an ever growing ideology among the so called 'pedagogs' who themselves never understood physics. It can not even be considered a physics textbook. The book pressums utter stupidity on the part of the reader, and it is painful to think anyone besides 5-year-olds can be forced to read this.
Better conceptual physics texts are available-
I've taught "conceptual" (fundamental) physics from this text at two universities and one community college.I have never liked the text - and this later edition has not changed my mind.(Don't let the catchy cover photo fool you.)Fortunately I no longer have to use the text.It is just too long and filled with too many topics for a one semester college level "conceptual physics" course.I don't think most college instructors who use this text ever make it through half the topics.

Handy Medical Guide
If a doctor gives me or someone else I know a diagnosis, I can look it up in the Manual and get a straightforward, detailed writeup about it.I always use it in conjunction with a doctor.

Excellent Text
I used this book in my General Chem I class a couple of years back and have since used it as a resource for my organic, biochem classes and MCAT review.The book was very easy to read compared to others and the examples were straight forward and easy to follow.The authors also attempted to include scientific/medical relevance to some of the issues covered.The most difficult chapter in the book to read is quantum theory; however, this topic is typically difficult for anyone to understand at first.

This book has been a big help to me as a reference source to fall back on. especially the CD that came with it. This book covers everything from thermo chemistry to organic chemistry. The website is somewhat insightful as well.

Not at all for beginners
I am currently taking an AP chemistry class, and we use this book.The class is meant to be extremely difficult, accelarated, and in-depth.We cover 22 out of the 25 chapters; we do not do modern materials, chemistry of the environment, or coordination compounds.

Great Resource
Great resource to have as a clinician not only for BPD but useful in all areas of practice.Includes Mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.Very comprehensive and effective skills for many human beings that arev suffering from "Life" Recommended.

dbt manual
this offers some good ideas and approaches but the writing is not clear and it is hard to understand some of the concepts, techniques, and some of the handouts.still, there is some useful stuff.
Great help
This book is an amazing alternative to some of the lengthly classes offered by hospitals, though I do not advise against any kind of medical treatment! Great at explaining concepts!
This book is really a masterpiece when it comes to explaining the concepts!The author makes sure that students don't just memorize formulas, but rather that they understand why the formulas work.I used this book to pass the DANTES statistic exam.

not for beginners.......
This book is not very user friendly. If you have troubles with math like me then this book is not for you. I would probably recommend a book like "for dummies, or a schuam's at the beginnnig level then reread this book, and it will be a little clearer.

Stats Book
I was really suprise that it arrived on time so that i can do my homework assignments. The stats book came in good condition like what the seller described. Even though it didnt come with a cd, buti'm still happy knowing that it's an instructor's edition. I was so surprised when my sister pointed that out to me.

The ONLY Book You Need
This is the only book you need for the morning session.I took the Civil PE exam 4 years ago, and I have since lent the same book to two colleagues who passed without much studying.I am not trying to discourage studying here, but just want to stress how useful this book is.It is very well organized and if you don't know something in the exam, just look it up in the index and voila, that's exactly what the question was asking.

Most frustrating book ever!
I teach at addiction studies at a local university, and found this book to be redundant and frustrating. It repeats itself, as would a student who has a single thought and lots of space to fill. I find this to be the most poorly organized book I have ever taught from, and will not use it again.

An excellent resource guide into motivational interviewing. A must for any therapist of addiction. It should be the number 1 tool for any educators in handling difficult situations with students.

Kudos for Miller and Rollnick

Nice and Well Organized Book.
I had this book for about two semesters, in college by the way. The first semester I dropped it and finally the second semester I got a B. Interesting hm? Anyhow, the book contains a large amount of information including very nice diagrams and photographs and has vastly improved in my opinion from the early first few editions. What makes this book extremely informative is the fact that it is pretty well organized and set up including indexing and clear contents listing. 16 chapters starting slowly from the basics of the human body, its relations to chemistry, cells and tissues, and finally going more in depth by digging deep into the organ systems and the human anatomy.
Tolerable
This book has some useful diagrams and illustrations.It's easy to read, but seems a bit too simplified at times.Also, I think the editors were a bit lax on the writing, personally.The CD quizes are helpful for review.

Perhaps, the book is not horrible and it is just my class
This book tries so hard to make social and cultural variances seem like scientific fact. Of course, a nursing text should discuss patient care but not as always black and white; it edges on stereotyping at times. Conversely, if physiology is mentioned, the science behind the concept is often ignored. I think this book is based on pseudo-science at times.
Good soruce of information
This book provides good explanations for the various processes and procedures of nursing. I really like the additional material such as the CD and the website.

Passed NCLEX!!
This book is thick but it has all the necessary info you need to pass the NCLEX. I covered the whole book in about three weeks and did the CD in between. I even noticed some of the questions on the NCLEX itself had similar questions to the book.

Great and just what I needed
This is a very comprehensive review.I know it's supposed to be but the format is broken down into very easy to understand sections.The test and rationales for each chapter are extremely helpful.Highly recommend.
