5-0 out of 5 stars Fractals Begin to Come of Age
I am sure that most of us have been intrigued and inspired by those remarkable geometric shapes called fractals. It is now 45 years since the Polish-born French mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot introduced the world to fractal geometry, the mathematical study of those beautiful and bizarre structures that have become the staple of much modern art and adorn millions of computer screens. Although the actual word "fractal" first made its appearance in 1975.
5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT DISCOVERIES
The book Discovery of Cosmic Fractals by Yurij Baryshev and Pekka Teerikorpi describes the yet unexplored fractal structure of the universe, which is hard to handle in the big bang theory. The idea of self-similarity is much deeper than it looks, suggesting a universe made of self-defined and hence fractal (self-similar) 3D spiral interactions as it is argued in the book THEORY OF INTERACTION The Simplest Explanation of Everything by Eugene Savov. The comic fractals can be viewed as just another convincing confirmation of the emerging theory of interaction. These two books and also James Gleick's CHAOS Making a New Science are harbingers of a qualitatively new, singularity free and complete understanding of the universe. That is why I highly recommend these essential books to everybody interested in the puzzles of nature. ... Read more

M. is a great man in (large) part because of what he has written, including these papers. And yes they are challenging. I find them nearly self-contained though.

4-0 out of 5 stars explains many key ideas
Here is a text of advanced nonlinear dynamics. Geared towards the intensive use of computers to perform the necessary grungework. Steeb hits on many important ideas that have emerged in recent decades. He shows the interrelation between chaotic phenomena and fractals, and how fractals can be used to describe the onset to chaos. 4-0 out of 5 stars Intuitively good book for Beginners in C/C++
Many authors have the idea, writing down every detail and everything they know, is best suitable for readers. The result is a thick and dry book you can read and understand only at a speed of 10 lines per day, that means you will never finish reading it. THIS BOOK instead, just INTRODUCES and MOTIVATES you in beginning learning C. Psychologicaly and intuitively very well written, it starts with chapters of only 4 or 5 pages length, increasing with your growing skills. It begins with just the necessary objects a beginner is interested in. Example: What do you see in a C program-code first? This book immediately explains you the "include" - directive and parameters of function "main(int argc, char *argv)". Some programs are implemented just for typing codes or showing you the possibilities of programming. You needn't understand them, just ENJOY.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is not what the reviews say it is.
Despite the publishers copy, this book is poorly written and is emphatically *not* for beginners to C, programming, or fractals.Mr. Stevens omits many details of both the C language and of fractal generation.None of his programs are commented. For some reason he has left out several important pieces of code that are not obvious to the beginner; they generate errors that required unnecessary time to repair. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Gross misrepresentation
This book is not by Robert L. Trippi. There may be no Robert L. Trippi, but there is a Robert R. Trippi, and he did not write this book. The book in fact is by one Dimitris N. Chorafas. The book is listed as being published by Macmillan. The actual publishing house is Irwin Professional Press. The book, when it arrives, does not have the advertised 400 pages, but rather 374.The index ends abruptly at that point with Dawkins. It is impossible to say what is going on here, but it is not good. The book itself, as I glanced through it, appears to be insultingly simple-minded and probably misguided.By all means save your time, your money, and your anger.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time.
A much better title for this book would have been "Interesting Financial Concepts That Hopefully Some Other Book Will Teach You"1-0 out of 5 stars worthless, overpriced
Although math is mentioned in the desciption, you won't find any in this book. This book is written for junior high school economics students who have never heard the terms chaos or fuzzy logic before. With a background in non-linear dynamics, I found this text insulting for its price. Application of the current trendy concepts to any market whatsoever wascompletely lacking. It is essentially a 300+ page version of Webster'sdictionary definition of chaos. For the amount of information present inthis book, it should be priced in the five to ten dollar range. ...
